《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 695. Are You Quan Zhen Sect Or A Gang?

In the fight between Void Blade and Quan Zhen Sect, it was inevitable that Sanguine Alliance would be brought up in any discussion about the fight. If Quan Zhen Sect lost, it would seem that Sanguine Alliance was extremely weak. Conversely, if Void Blade lost, it would instead not reflect that badly on Sanguine Alliance.
Sanguine Warflag understood the temperament of the members from Quan Zhen Sect. They were all very pragmatic players and were not too concerned with the issues of integrity. If there was money to be made, these members did not have qualms killing themselves a few times for it.
Void Blade definitely was not short of money while Quan Zhen Sect was absolutely shameless.
If Quan Zhen Sect decided to keep this matter hushed, Sanguine Alliance would lose all respect in Twilight City. Therefore, Sanguine Warflag had decided that they should take the initiative to expose Void Blade’s embarrassing defeat. This would prevent Void Blade and Quan Zhen Sect from cooperating in the future.
Sanguine Alliance had no shortage of members. After tens of thousands of members received the order, they immediately went to the forum to post.
The immense number of posts that went up on the forum exposing Void Blade left a huge impression on the minds of players.
Sure enough, after seeing the posts of Sanguine Alliance, Big Bear Deng Deng An’s face darkened. He hurriedly logged in into the game.
Big Bear Deng Deng An immediately contacted Captain Don’t Open Fire, “Hey Captain, what is going on?”
Sanguine Rain’s squad was destroyed in less than twenty minutes. Captain Don’t Open Fire displayed a face of desperation and let out a big sigh. “That bunch of people has been using guerrilla tactics. We simply do not have any way to take them down.”
“Guerrilla tactics?” Big Bear was slightly confused. “Aren’t they stuck at the resurrection point?”
“Stuck? Those guys are extremely cunning, they are very slippery and hard to catch. They only start a fight when they have the numbers advantage… Even Sanguine Rain could not match them… why don’t we just drop this matter at this point.” Captain Don’t Open Fire now dreaded facing Quan Zhen Sect. He finally understood how Quan Zhen Sect had triumphed over Sanguine Alliance which had overwhelmingly greater numbers.

There was no favourable outcome from fighting against the bunch from Quan Zhen Sect. Even if one had the upper hand, there was nothing to be gained from it.
After all, the people from Quan Zhen Sect were vicious. They even managed to exterminate a professional squad.
“Forget it?” Big Bear Deng Deng An heard Captain Don’t Open Fire’s plea to compromise and quickly retorted, “We have already posted some things on the world forums. If we were to stop now, wouldn’t it be harming ourselves?”
Captain Don’t Open Fire replied, “That is better than being tormented.”
“…” Big Bear Deng Deng An saw that Captain Don’t Open Fire had lost his fighting spirit and was also dejected.
The resurrection point was the point in the city where traffic was the highest. If Void Blade did not continue fighting, it would have proven the point of the posts decrying Void Blade’s defeat to Quan Zhen Sect. In front of the many bystanders from Twilight City, there was no way for Void Blade to escape this predicament.
“Huh! Quan Zhen Sect’s Spring Halo just added me as a friend!” Captain Don’t Open Fire said in a state of confusion.
Captain Don’t Open Fire opened the friend request and it was indeed Spring Halo.
“Why did he add you as a friend?” Big Bear Deng Deng An questioned.
“I am not too sure…” Captain Don’t Open Fire replied.
At this moment, Spring Halo sent over a message which stated, “Hi, Void Blade’s guild leader, we have not seen each other in a while. To think we had to meet under such circumstances.”
“…” Captain Don’t Open Fire was speechless and replied, “We are also helpless. Can I ask what business you might have with me? We have known each other for quite a while. I am sure everything can be discussed amicably.”
Captain Don’t Open Fire initially thought that Spring Halo had an ulterior motive for contacting him and his words carried a negative tone.
When Spring Halo heard Captain Don’t Open Fire’s words, he lightly smiled and said, “There is definitely room for discussion. Actually we have no grievance against you.”

“What do you mean?”
Spring Halo replied, “Let me move away from the small talk. I am sure you have a clear idea of the strength of our Quan Zhen Sect.”
“Quan Zhen Sect really is worthy of their reputation!” Captain Don’t Open Fire words of praise were sincere.
To be honest, Captain Don’t Open Fire only thought that Quan Zhen Sect was a bunch of gangsters. Who would have thought that these fellas were more of a bunch of bandits.
“That being said, who do you think will be at a loss if this fight were to continue?” Spring Halo enquired.
“Haha!” Captain Don’t Open Fire smiled and replied, “In a frontal battle, Quan Zhen Sect might not be a match for Void Blade..”
It seemed like Captain Don’t Open Fire was indeed frightful. There was no certainty in his choice of words.
“I have to admit, in a frontal battle, a small guild like Quan Zhen Sect definitely cannot hope to match Void Blade. But truthfully, why would we ever choose to engage you in a frontal battle? I actually feel that attacking from the shadows is a more interesting mode of attack …” Spring Halo said without a shred of hesitation.
“You…” Captain Don’t Open Fire was feeling very unjustified. He felt that this bunch of idiots from Quan Zhen Sect were shameless to the core. They were willing to use such crass ways to attack others.
“Hey, Captain, don’t be too angry, there is definitely room for discussion.” Spring Halo proposed towards Captain Don’t Open Fire.
“Oh? How do we resolve this?” Captain Don’t Open Fire asked.
“This is actually very simple, return all the items you stole to us!” Spring Halo remarked.
“That’s all?’ Captain Don’t Open Fire was actually pleasantly surprised.
This condition was actually a simple effort on the part of Void Blade.
“Of course, our Quan Zhen Sect is one that is most reasonable,” Spring Halo answered shamelessly. “But if you guys just retreat like this, it might not be the best idea. I have heard things on the forums.”
“…”
Captain Don’t Open Fire retorted, “So what do you think we should do?” Spring Halo’s words were actually sound advice. If both parties suddenly stopped the fight, it would continue to inflame the gossip on the forums.
Spring Halo said, “It is even easier for you!”
“Oh? Tell me about it!” Captain Don’t Open Fire answered.
“Problems that can be solved by money is generally not a big problem. As long as you give us some compensation, Quan Zhen Sect will allow ourselves to be killed by you guys.” Spring Halo grinned as he flashed his blade around.
“…” Captain Don’t Open Fire was stunned. This group of shameless individuals was willing to even betray their own morals.
Captain Don’t Open Fire was a nouveau riche and did not lack money. He opened his mouth and asked, “How much money do you want?”
Spring Halo replied, “We have a total of 11 people, the cost of appearance and the cost of emotional damage to one person would cost 10,000 gold. Taking account for the fact that we are old friends, how about 100,000 gold then?”
“Pu~!!!” Captain Don’t Open Fire heard his demands and let out a mouthful of blood.
Now, gold coins were depreciating and the exchange rate with RMB was about 1:60. One hundred thousand gold was about 6 million RMB. On top of this, there were tax handling fees leading up to a final amount of almost 7 million dollars…
Seven million dollars for compensation for injuries? These bunch from Quan Zhen Sect were really operating similar to that of a gang. They had the gall to ask for such an insane amount of money.

A Castle in a Teacup
One might say that to anger forces beyond the ken of fragile breakable mortals is a bad idea, others might say that meddling in dark forces with little chance of gain is also a bad idea, they would both be right by on all counts but they forget to mention also how incredibly stupid combining both of those things are. Stupid people don’t last so long on the mystic side of things, normal folks who wander over to the other side have a tendency to do one of two things, either A. figure out that the best thing to do is keep their head down and not draw attention from any entity that refers to humanity as “you mortals” , or B. something horrifying happens to them. As you may have guessed I fell into the second category, mostly because I thought there was a third option. See I though there must be an option C, an option where I got to end up not as some shitty back ally wizard cowering at the chance of discovery, praying that one of my wards or spells wouldn’t be noticed by something that goes bump in the night. No I would be the one who rose above all that. I would never have to be afraid. Well I made a good attempt at it that’s for damn sure, but unfortunately for me it turns out there is not an option C. At least not for me…

Kai Jameson is an average everyday young man. He still lives at home with his parents after having just graduated from college. He loves playing video games and his job at the local Buy More is tolerable. Of course that all changes the moment the system arrives and the Earth is connected to the Nexus. Turns out Kai was trapped in time for about eighteen months while the people already here got a headstart on him. He lucks into being rescued by some people from a town called Donnyton and learns that if he wants to survive in this New Earth he'll have to work harder than ever before. The rewards are worth it. This is Kai's story, the moments of his triumphs, and the moments when he feels that things couldn't possibly be worse. Thanks to puddles4263 and his story The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound for the inspiration on the world this is set in. If you have never read that I highly recommend it, and if you have read it and enjoyed that story then I hope you'll enjoy mine as well. This is the first story I'm ever putting out for public consumption so reader beware on that. Any constructive criticism is always appreciated, simply leaving a half star review tells me that you're a moron who doesn't know how to use words. I'm constantly trying to improve my writing and feedback and criticism on what works and what doesn't is the only way to do that at the point I feel I am at. Last, I just marked all the content warnings because you never know where a story will take you and I don't want to exclude anything (though there will never be a harem). I am going to release 1-2 chapters per week on Fridays. Thanks and enjoy.
