《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 688. Fight Fire With Fire

Spring Halo was sly and the job class that he plays complements it. However, he actually managed to force a Shaman job class to fit the role of an Assassin.
When Spring Halo saw the Void Blade players passing by, he brought along his demons and followed behind them. He first activated [Dark Barrier] and followed up by throwing a [Poison Nova] at the archers situated at the backlines. After doing so, he immediately turned tail and ran. Under the protection of the demons, he ran back into the shop.
Whenever the players from Void Blade were sneaked attacked, they were used to chasing down the perpetrator. In their attempt to chase Spring Halo, they got caught up in his [Dark Barrier] and received a beating from the six demons that were previously deployed.
Spring Halo’s poison was exceptionally toxic and effective. With the use of a single [Poison Nova], the archers from Void Blade practically lost half of their entire health bars. After getting caught up in Spring Halo’s [Dark Barrier], the archers were beaten up by the demons as well. From the start till the end, all these unfortunate victims ever saw were Spring Halo’s skills…
The moment he thought of Spring Halo’s ability to use [Call of the Abyss], Captain Don’t Open Fire heaved a sigh of relief and said, “I have seen that Shaman before. He is shrewd and sly… Be extra careful, but it’s fine, the rest are not much of a threat…”
“Boss, we were ambushed.”
Just when Captain Don’t Open Fire was finishing his sentence, he received yet another news.
“F*ck! Who were you ambushed by as well?!” Captain Don’t Open Fire was starting to get annoyed.
“It was still the Priest.”
This guy truly had rotten luck, to actually be able to meet Fearless twice and get successfully ambushed by him both times.
“How did the Priest manage to ambush you…” Captain Don’t Open Fire angrily said.
Priest was not a class made for battle. Being able to kill a single player in combat could still be attributed to a player’s individual skill. However, Void Blade had over 200 players teamed up together. How could they possibly be ambushed by a single Priest?
“It’s the same old trick. He released a cloud of mist, trapping us in,” the person replied.
“If it’s just getting trapped, surely you guys were not hurt?” Captain Don’t Open Fire asked once more. He still refused to believe that Fearless was capable of torturing so many players to death in such a situation.

“The entire team was annihilated…” The other party said in a defeated tone.
“Cough…” Captain Don’t Open Fire spat blood out.
“Useless trash! You actually got team-wiped by a single Priest?! What do you even do for a living!” Captain Don’t Open Fire mercilessly shouted.
“We weren’t killed by the Priest, we were killed by the players that were passing by.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“After the Priest trapped us, he started yelling on the streets, saying, “Need help to kill the Snake Goblin Boss. Whoever manages to loot any equipment will be able to keep it…”
“F*ck!”
Upon hearing this, Captain Don’t Open Fire collapsed. With both his hands wrapped around his head, he squatted on the floor…
Shortly after, the already distressed Captain Don’t Open Fire continuously received news of his teams getting ambushed. Neither of the teams was spared… the method of operation was always the same and could be summed up as such: “When the enemy advances, I retreat. When the enemy retreats, I chase. When the enemy stops, I harass. When the enemy gets tired, I attack.”
What’s even scarier was the fact that the players from Quan Zhen Sect came without warning and left without a trace. They were shrewd and only aimed for the players in the backline. Apart from the Pugilist, Wang Yu, the rest never even revealed their faces.
Within a short period of time, the players from Void Blade were panicky. Even though they were a group of over a hundred players grouped together, they were all paranoid, afraid of someone suddenly appearing and stabbing them in the back.
The elite players from Void Blade were not much different in terms of skills compared to the players from an old timer guild such as the Sanguine Alliance. However, harassing a mob such as the teams sent by Void Blade was considered an easy feat for Quan Zhen Sect.
Of course, if they were to engage in actual combat, the few players from Quan Zhen Sect would definitely not be able to fight it out. However, the number of lives in a game was unlimited. What’s more, the players from Quan Zhen Sect were all extremely scheming. So what if Void Blade managed to take down the headquarters of Quan Zhen Sect? To this bunch of people, would there be a difference between them having and not having a headquarters? On the contrary, it would only serve to fuel their anger.

If this were to keep on dragging on, however, neither party would benefit from it. The reason why Sanguine Alliance decided to come to terms with Quan Zhen Sect was due to their method of fighting, and clearly, Sanguine Warflag was a smart man to do so.
“D*mn it, d*mn it…”
Upon seeing his own men getting beaten by Quan Zhen Sect, Captain Don’t Open Fire was speechless. The only words he could muster were vulgarities.
Normally, a battle between a large guild and a small one would not turn out as such.
Normal small guilds do not have such abilities as they were normally comprised of players that were playing the game as a form of entertainment. Even if they wanted to engage in such guerilla tactics, they may not have the ability to do so.
However, Quan Zhen Sect was different. Every player in the guild was an expert in his/her own rights and were all comparable to professional gaming experts in the industry.
With too many people, it would be easy for them to hide amongst the crowd and stab them in the back. With too few people, they had no chance of facing off against the Quan Zhen Sect’s players, what’s worse was the fact that there were still a few players from Quan Zhen Sect stuck in the resurrection point and did not partake in this ambush… If players like Ming Du, with job classes that were capable of executing large scale AOE damage, were to join in the fray, when faced with ordinary players from Void Blade, the damage done would be way worse than what Wang Yu did.
As the saying goes, “You shouldn’t be afraid of the moment a thief decides to rob you, but rather be afraid of the moment a thief marks you for life.” Getting targeted by this bunch of players was a troublesome issue and was causing Captain Don’t Open Fire a headache.
“God Sanguine Rain, what do you say we do about this?” Captain Don’t Open Fire begged for Sanguine Rain’s advice.
Sanguine Rain calmly analysed, “Clearly, this bunch of players are experts in such guerilla warfare. It would be difficult to deal with them. If you had listened to me at the very start and stayed low to hide, things would have turned out fine.”
“Would I still be able to salvage the situation if I get my men to come back now?” Captain Don’t Open Fire asked.
“En! Get them to guard this place instead,” Sanguine Rain nodded and replied.
“Guard the resurrection point? Wouldn’t we be very passive then?” Captain Don’t Open Fire said reluctantly.
“Guarding the resurrection point is the safest. Leave Quan Zhen Sect to us,” Sanguine Rain said.
The players from Quan Zhen Sect were all acting independently and were hard to locate. On the contrary, their targets were big teams with over a hundred players. Trying to deal with such a small group of experts in such a way would be impossible. Thus, the right way to do so would be to fight fire with fire.
Players like Sanguine Rain were professional experts with exceptionally high abilities and good battle sense. Individually, he was a cut above most of the players within Quan Zhen Sect. If they continued to use such tactics, they would no longer be able to get any advantage.
“I’ll have to trouble you then.” Captain Don’t Open Fire gratefully thanked Sanguine Rain, feeling more emotionally stable after hearing Sanguine Rain’s offer to help.
“Captain, no need for such words, we are all doing it for the guild.”
Sanguine Rain politely replied, following which he started to gather his men.
The professional experts from Void Blade were all scouted by Captain Don’t Open Fire at great costs. Some of them were retired experts while others were prominent at some point in time in the past. Most of them were solo players, except for the four players pulled over from Sanguine Alliance.
Amongst them, the most renowned expert would be Sanguine Rain. Thus, with the addition of the four players from Sanguine Alliance, most of them were willing to take orders from Sanguine Rain.
Initially, Fist of Heaven was Sanguine Rain’s rival. However, at this point in time, even he was beaten senseless by Wang Yu. Seeing everyone treating Sanguine Rain as the team leader, he had no choice but to follow under him.
After gathering the necessary players, Sanguine Rain created a party and invited everyone into it. He then gave the order, “Everyone will act separately. They should be hiding near the locations of ambush. These are the coordinates.”
As he was speaking, Sanguine Rain sent a chain of coordinates, which were all the places where the players from Void Blade were ambushed at.

Mobius
Far in the future, humans have thoroughly colonized space through the use of floating colonies and artificially replicating the Earth whenever possible. Most of these endeavors have gone well, with humanity spreading across the universe like the seeds of plants floating in the wind. Yet still there lurks the great mistake, the endless station of Mobius, a megastructure which hasn't ceased its building in over a century. Dante, a man living in this megastructure, is tasked with the recording of stories told by criminals, particularly those who travel between strata. One day, a prisoner is captured claiming to be Captain Pluto, an infamous criminal thought to be fictitious by most scholars. Even more curious, he claims to hail all the way from Stratum 56, a location so far away from Dante's Stratum 999 that it would take lifetimes to traverse such a distance. Dante must discern whether or not the story is false or true, and the longer he lets Captain Pluto speak, the more difficult his task becomes. *****Average chapter length will be 10k words give or take. This isn't a very serious story for me. I'm writing this to blow off steam. Updates will happen infrequently because of this, and it will most likely be unpolished unless I begin to take it more seriously.
