《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 586. Frontier Invasion War

“Ah! All these weaklings!”
After obliterating the players from Dead Spirit City who were blocking the way, Berserk Heavenlaw were on high spirits after their demoralising fight with the Quan Zhen Sect.
“F*ck! What are you guys doing!!”
At this moment, Hidden Lurker and Berserk Thundergod caught up with the people in front. When they saw what happened, they instantly cried out in an anxious tone.
“There are black dogs (players from the Dark Faction) obstructing our path. Don’t worry! We got rid of them!” a proud Berserk Heavenly Thunder said.
“You’ve gone crazy!” Hidden Lurker was so angry that his entire body was trembling. How stupid and useless can these people get? How can they act so brazenly in the Dark Faction’s territory as though they were in Thunderstorm City? Did they really think that the Berserk Heavenlaw is invincible?
“What are you saying? You… Him…” Berserk Heavenly Thunder was confused by Hidden Lurker’s words and just as he was about to curse at him, he saw Nian Liuyun staring at him.
“Stop arguing.” Berserk Thundergod quickly stepped in to smooth things over. He proceeded to find fault with Berserk Heavenly Thunder, “Heavenly Thunder, why are you acting without using your brain? We came to look for people, not to create trouble. Do you know what you have done?”
Berserk Heavenly Thunder replied with disdain, “They are just a bunch of useless fellas. We have nothing to be afraid of. Moreover, they are the ones who provoked us.”
“What do you know?! The number of players in Dead Spirit City isn’t any lesser than Thunderstorm City. Did you really think we can wipe out the entire city with just the few of us here?” Because Hidden Lurker already had secret motives from the start, now that Berserk Heavenly Thunder did something so foolish, he couldn’t control his anger anymore. Otherwise, he would never dare to scold Berserk Heavenly Thunder the way he did in front of Berserk Thundergod.
“Tsk!” Everyone knew what kind of person Berserk Heavenly Thunder was. Why would he be afraid of Hidden Lurker if he was daring enough to chase Wang Yu? If it wasn’t for the presence of Nian Liuyun, he would have already started a fight with Hidden Lurker.
Naturally, Berserk Thundergod did not feel good when he saw how Hidden Lurker ridiculed his own subordinate. After all, the owner was the only one with the rights to scold his own dog. Moreover, this was his brother.
“So, what does Boss Hidden Lurker say we do?” An unpleasant Berserk Thundergod stared at Hidden Lurker.
Hidden Lurker shook his head and said, “Alright, I think we should head back first.”
Hidden Lurker was almost as despicable as Fearless. If Fearless could think of something like that, Hidden Lurker wouldn’t be far off. While Berserk Heavenlaw hadn’t suffered any serious losses, it could still be salvaged if they went back now. If they were to go back only after Berserk Heavenlaw’s men were all dead, things might get complicated.
“Head back? Are you messing with me?” Berserk Heavenly Thunder went into a rage, “We brought thousands of people all the way here and you’re telling me we should head back?”

Berserk Thundergod furrowed his brows, “Indeed. We came with great number and now you’re suggesting we head back just like that? Are you trying to make a fool out of us?”
“There is no other choice. With that many of us, we are too conspicuous. We have to divide and conquer by splitting up to look for them.” Hidden Lurker replied helplessly.
In the two factions in >, the allocation of jobs was not very different with the exception of the two Holy jobs. Therefore, there was no extremely effective way to deal with the Dark Faction. By splitting up, they will be reducing the target size significantly in which they could avoid being attacked by the players from Dead Spirit City.
Berserk Thundergod scratched his chin as he pondered upon Hidden Lurker’s suggestion. He came to the conclusion that there was a better way to do this. Hence, he nodded, “Alright, we will do as you say. Ten people in a team but most importantly, do not do anything if anyone spots the Quan Zhen Sect. We will only act when everyone has gathered.”
“En, en, en.” Berserk Heavenly Thunder acknowledged as he turned to glare at Hidden Lurker.
Hidden Lurker turned his head and pretended like he didn’t see him.
At the same time, the news had already broken out and everyone started talking about how the white pigs (players from the Light Faction) invaded their territory. Specifically, the players killed by Berserk Heavenlaw’s players were out to seek revenge after coming out from the resurrection point.
Within the Golden Axe Metal Horse’s office, Vagrant Horse had heard of this news since a long time ago. Initially, Vagrant Horse thought that it was just like any other day where a small group of rogue players came to cause some trouble. He thought he could settle this by sending out a team of experts to scare them away. He never thought that it was so serious.
However, he knew he was wrong when he heard about the news. He had over thousands of men in the training area and they were killed within a few rounds. Evidently, the enemy must have brought a large group of people too.
“One Light, didn’t you say there was only one group of people? How did they cause such a huge commotion?” Vagrant Horse looked at Light and Arrows in confusion.
Light and Arrows replied, “I have no idea too. Initially, we only saw slightly more than ten people. After that, we were exterminated by a wave of spells.”
“Do you know who they are?”
“I don’t know but they told us that they are from Berserk Heavenlaw.” Light and Arrows answered honestly.
“Then it has to be them!” Vagrant Horse continued, “The group of them killing our men in the training area must be from Berserk Heavenlaw.”
“F*ck! Are they really here to cause troubles?” Light and Arrows was still in disbelief as he asked.
At this stage of the game, many guilds have failed to develop further. Not to mention cross factions attack to take over the land, there were even some guilds who crossed a main city to fight others.

“Is that even a question? There is no doubt that this bunch of white pigs really think that we, from the dark faction, is inferior to them. Everyone listen up! Everyone shall head back to our city. I want to teach these white pigs a lesson.”
…
Golden Axe Metal Horse Guild was not the only guild to have heard of this news. Most of the guilds in Dead Spirit City received the orders to returned to the city. Immediately after receiving the orders, almost all the players from Dead Spirit City returned from the training area. Even players in dungeon quest left their quest and returned to the city.
Fights between factions were not all about the main city’s merit points. If a main city was defeated by another main city, the players would at most be ridiculed. But if this was upgraded to faction level, pride would not be the only issue.
Fights between faction often involved rewards and punishments.
If they won, there would be a lot of honour, rewards and even the distribution of usage rights of the main city. If they lost, there would be an insane decrease in merit points. If things were more serious, they might have to surrender territory under humiliating terms. Dead Spirit City might even belong to the Light Faction in the future. When the time comes, the players from Dead Spirit City would become the epitome of true ‘losers’.
Being a ‘loser’ is nothing scary, but being the first ‘loser’ would be recorded in history and laughed at forever…
Even though this was merely a game, it was never pleasant to be treated as a classic failure. Because of this, even players from Dead Spirit City without any guilds would return on their own accord to fight the enemy.
Even Fearless and Quan Zhen Sect didn’t expect that their initial plan to attack using the strength of another would unintentionally cause such a huge commotion.
At this point in time, Quan Zhen Sect had already met up at the Port of Cowell.
Port of Cowell is an abandoned port and had been occupied by a large number of low-level Dead Spirit City players. It was a level 15 training area outside of Dead Spirit City which was not very far from the city. Moreover, it was a place where players returning to Dead Spirit City had to pass by.
“What an immense level of murderous energy! What is going on?” The moment Wang Yu set foot into the Port of Cowell, he could feel the energy from the players from Dead Spirit City.
“I saw a lot of Dead Spirit City’s players rushing back to the city on the way here. Is something big going to happen?” Spring Halo guessed.
“Big? Could the few players that we killed out to kill us now?” Because Ming Du killed too many people in the past, he couldn’t help but feel slightly guilty when Spring Halo said something like this.
“Kill us? I don’t think they’re after us, right?” Fearless scratched his chin and said, “I believe they will be going after Berserk Heavenlaw’s men. They should have killed some people in the training area.”
Ming Du’s eyes lit up and said, “That’s right! They have killed over a few thousand people.”
“F*ck! A few thousand? Is Berserk Thundergod crazy?” After hearing Ming Du’s words, everyone’s jaws dropped.
Quan Zhen Sect’s initial intention was to create some conflict between Berserk Heavenlaw and Dead Spirit City’s players. However, Berserk Thundergod was not an idiot, so he would at most slightly offend the guild here. Ultimately, he would only be required to compensate a sum of money. Who knew that they would actually go on to slaughter a few thousand men?
“Speaking of which, Old Li, how did you know?”
“I was lurking by the side hoping to pick up a few things, but I immediately ran away when I saw how serious things got.” Running away immediately when he sensed that things were not going good was definitely Ming Du’s style.
“Hehehe. Berserk Heavenlaw could still make it if they leave now. Otherwise, things will not be this simple if people start treating them as invaders. They will certainly be slaughtered.” Fearless, the instigator, was chuckling away. He was clearly rejoicing in their misfortune.
“You… You are truly on a different level of sinning…” Everyone started dissing Fearless but they all knew that he was right. If a guild dared to invade another city, Berserk Heavenlaw would be doomed if they chose not to run now.
Of course, seeing how Berserk Heavenlaw got punished was exactly what the Quan Zhen Sect wanted. If they were to leave now and escape without consequences, Quan Zhen Sect would certainly not be the happiest.
Wang Yu, on the other hand, was slightly worried, “They caused such a big commotion. Do you think anything will happen to us?”
“This…” After Wang Yu sounded out his worries, the rest of the Quan Zhen Sect no longer had smiles on their faces.
After the troubles invoked by Berserk Heavenlaw, the Dead Spirit City’s players were naturally not going to leave the matter at that. If they were to investigate on this matter, they would find out that the players from Quan Zhen Sect were also from the Light Faction. At that point in time, bystanders like them might also suffer.
“Don’t worry.” Fearless smiled, “We are only a small group of people. As long as we don’t enter the city or provoke any NPC, nobody will be able to tell what faction we are from.”
“Fearless is right…” Everyone heaved a huge sigh of relief after hearing Fearless’ words. However, before everyone was able to calm themselves down completely, a system’s notification flashed across the sky.
The announcement was repeated for three times. Wang Yu and co. were not the only ones who were dumbfounded. Even the players from Berserk Heavenlaw were shocked too.
They were not shocked at this system announcement. Instead, at the same time they saw this announcement, every non-dark faction players within the area of the Dead Spirit Swamp received another system notification.

Will Nirvania stand strong against its foes, or crumble and be washed away by the sands of time? 2 years had passed since the conclusion of the 3rd Holy War, which was achieved by the combined efforts of the Nirvanian Army, the 10 Saints and Kai's team, which have been affectionately known thereafter as the Rising 8; a group of rapidly rising youths revered as national heroes for their contributions in putting an end to the 3rd Holy War. Moreover, relations between all 4 Kingdoms on the Central Continent, namely Nirvania, Miran, Cameron and the Sylph Kingdom, have reached unprecedented heights, ushering an age of peace. However, danger lies ever closer, with the Chaos Legion staying low over the past 2 years, awaiting the perfect opportunity to rear its ugly head. The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
