《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 565. Berserk Heavenlaw's Shield Formation

Berserk Thunder City’s training areas were distributed based on main cities. This route which would pass by the Ironcliff Fortress was the only training area outside a city.
As a monster area at the foot of the mountain, this practice area was occupied by monsters around level 20. Every day, there are new players joining >. Hence, there should be many players in this practice area. However, there were only a few players who were heading to the main city.
As Quan Zhen Sect walked further in, they became more puzzled. As one of the seven heroes, Grand Wizard Reynolds, was cultivating in Berserk Thunder City, it was one of the most prosperous city. Even if this was not a mainstream practice area, it should not have no players at all.
Just as everyone was confused, a large troop of players appeared on the road in front of them.
Once those players saw Quan Zhen Sect, they quickly surrounded them, yelling as they moved, “Stand still, don’t move. Or else we will use force!”
“Oh? Are Berserk Thunder City’s people so fierce?”
Hearing what those players said, Quan Zhen Sect was shocked. They have been to many main cities but they have never seen a main city with players so imposing.
Once those players moved within the range of their [Probing] skill, everyone finally understood those players’ motives.
There were forty to fifty people in the troop. Their occupations even matched Berserk Thunder City’s special feature. Most of them were Magicians and were equipped with very luxurious equipments. They were even dressed in a silver outfit with some gold accessories. Their leader was even more eye-catching as he had a dull gold staff which emitted striking gold rays. Ming Du stared in envy…
No wonder they spoke so arrogantly. Only top-tier guilds had such well-dressed players.
However, Wang Yu was happy to see that Magician as he was none other than Wild Thunderheart, who he had defeated…

“Which guild are you from? Don’t you know that this is Berserk Heavenlaw’s territory?” Wild Thunderheart asked as he walked towards them and pointed at them.
“So this is Berserk Thunderlaw’s territory. We just arrived today so we don’t know the rules.” Fearless said with a smile.
As Berserk Thunder City’s largest guild, Fearless naturally have heard of Berserk Heavenlaw. It was not rare that large guilds protected their territory. However, as Fearless wanted to avoid other matters, he did not want to deal with them.
Wild Thunderheart heard what he said and paused, then stared at Fearless and asked, “Foreigners?”
Hidden Lurker had said that the targets of the quest were not Berserk Thunder City’s players. Hearing what Fearless said, Wild Thunderheart immediately raised his wariness.
“Yes… Foreigners.” Fearless smilingly replied.
“What are you here for?”
“We are just passing by, nothing else.” Fearless explained. It was a taboo to cause trouble in a large guild’s territory so Fearless thought Wild Thunderheart suspected that they were there to cause trouble.
“Passing by?” Wild Thunderheart became nervous after hearing those words. Berserk Thunder City was the key access point between the two factions. There was nowhere else they could be heading to other than the Dead Spirit Swamp. Hence, it seemed like these people were the spies which Hidden Lurker were referring to.
At this thought, Wild Thunderheart immediately sent an order in the guild chat, “They are the spies, kill them!”
When Berserk Heavenlaw’s people heard that Quan Zhen Sect were foreigners, they had already prepared to attack. Now that they received the order, they immediately lifted their weapons and started to recite the [Chain Lightning] spell.
“Move out of the way!”
The opponent was out to kill, leaving Wang Yu in shock. At almost the same time, before they finished reciting the [Chain Lightning], Wang Yu roared and charged forward. He grabbed Wild Thunderheart and threw him forward.

The direction Wang Yu threw him to was where the Berserk Heavenlaw troops were. Although Wild Thunderheart was a Magician, he was quite burly. His body flew towards the troop of Magicians, causing them to tumble and fall.
As Magicians could not freely move while reciting their spells, more than half of their spell was interrupted by Wild Thunderheart. The rest also gave up on the recitation as they feared they would accidentally hurt Wild Thunderheart.
“Spread out!”
By then, Fearless reacted and gave the order as he looked at the unpredictable Wild Thunderheart.
To tackle range-nature spells, surrounding them was the most obvious and idiot-proof way to stand. Especially when the opponent was using spells like [Chain Lightning], they had to stand apart.
The damage [Chain Lightning] could do laid in the keyword, “Chain”. When lightnings were connected, their damage multiplied. The more people there were, the greater the damage. With a dozen of Berserk Heavenlaw Magicians reciting the spell, it would only take one round to wipe out Quan Zhen Sect.
However, if they stood apart, the [Chain Lightning] area damage would become individual damage. Its damage would not even match up to a regular [Lightning] skill.
Receiving Fearless’ order, Vainglory dashed to a spot near Wang Yu and blocked Berserk Heavenlaw’s people.
Crotch Lord protected Ling Longmeng while Boson protected Yang Nuo. They quickly retreated out of the Magicians’ attack range while Frost Blade and Darknorth Fisher quickly disappeared into the air.
Spring Halo, Ming Du and Fearless stood in a triangle behind Wang Yu and Vainglory to form a “22122 shield and defense” formation with the last row of archers.
At the same time, the first row of Berserk Heavenlaw saw how Wild Thunderheart was beaten. They quickly huddled together to block the back row of Magicians in direct confrontation with Quan Zhen Sect’s formation.
As Berserk Thunder City had no main city culture, their mixture of occupations was very simple and aggressive. Typical troops rarely had Priests, and only had Guardians and Magicians.
The Guardians would stop the monsters while the Magicians would seize them through a series of [Chain Lighting]. Such a shameless way of combat was indeed effective to level up rapidly. It was also aggressive for PK. After a while, Berserk Thunder City’s players’ style of battle was to compete based on whose Guardians were the most resistant and whose Magicians were able to inflict the most damage…
Although there were only two occupations, it became a lot simpler when it came to battle tactics as there were fewer variations of occupations. At the same time, the Berserk Thunder City also mastered this tactic to another level. As Berserk Thunder City’s largest guild, Berserk Heavenlaw was naturally a master at this too.
Berserk Heavenlaw’s front row of Guardians lifted their shields to activate the shield formation.
What was different from other shield formations was that Berserk Heavenlaw’s shield formation had its shields alternate to help them stand by relying on one another for support which makes the shield formation a lot more stable.
Such alternating style of shield formation not only made their defense strength multiply. It also protected the troops without any loopholes. Even PK experts like Wang Yu also could not do much after seeing this formation.
Although regular players did not have impressive martial arts as their foundation to operate their characters, their understanding of the game and their knowledge was so deep that they knew how to maximise the potential of each occupation… Players’ wisdom were indeed remarkable.
