《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 442. Phoenix From The Ashes

"Us? Can we do it?" Lone Vagrant Guest looked surprised when he asked. Even One Page Book, who was much stronger than him, found Wang Yu's instructions hard to believe.
After all, this was a level 50 Ancient BOSS. One Pugilist and two Assassins were also unable to form an effective offense and defense formation. Blind interference would not do any good and it would be devastating if the BOSS managed to hit them.
Wang Yu replied, "Yes! I am still able to annoy him but I cannot keep up with his attacks! Just do your best to attack him!"
Regardless of how impressive Wang Yu's martial arts were and how quick his movements were, he was faced against a well-rounded BOSS in terms of attributes. All Wang Yu could do was to torture him to death slowly.
This was especially so for a thick-skinned BOSS like Assassin Lyon. As compared to warrior-type BOSS, Assassin Lyon was so much more frustrating to deal with and Wang Yu ran out of ideas too. Ultimately, three people could deal more damage than one person.
Lone Vagrant Guest replied in a distressed tone, "You really have to pull him close to you ah…"
"No problem!"
While they were speaking, Assassin Lyon caught up with Wang Yu again. With a raise of his dagger, he charged straight at Wang Yu's throat.
Back of the waist, neck, heart and brain were all the number one choice of the body part to attack for an Assassin-Type monster. Assassins would always look to land the killing blow on the first strike. They had always been so simple and cruel.
At this point, the cooldown period of Wang Yu's [Afterimage Fist] was finally over. Wang Yu executed his [Afterimage Fist] to block the Assassin's attack. Following that, Wang Yu circled to the back of Assassin Lyon, changed his weapon to a dagger and aimed right at the back of his waist.
There is a saying that goes one inch by one inch strong. However, the longer the choice of weapon, the more its speed would be restricted.

Against such a nimble BOSS, Wang Yu dared not to use large weapons. For example, he wouldn't dare to use fist weapons against the BOSS's naked sword. Wang Yu had yet to achieve that level of strength so the best possible way to deal with Assassin Lyon was dagger against dagger.

Assassin Lyon was first hit by the afterimage explosion and then by the strike of the dagger. His health decreased by about 200 HP. The infuriated BOSS didn't even turn his head as his dagger moved to strike back.
Wang Yu blocked it and concurrently, made use of the strength of the BOSS's dagger strike to shift his body to the side. After shifting there, Wang Yu swept his foot as he moved in front of Assassin Lyon. With a swift movement, he inserted his dagger right into Assassin Lyon's chest.

Yet another weak damage and Wang Yu's heart turned cold… Even after striking his heart, the decrease of health was still so insignificant. Assassin Lyon was really on a whole new level.
Without waiting for Wang Yu to keep his dagger and retreat, Assassin Lyon made his move again. However, Wang Yu moved forward instead of retreating. This time, Assassin Lyon struck Wang Yu in his wrist.
-115. Assassin Lyon's attack on Wang Yu wasn't very clean. Wang Yu made use of this opportunity to use his own dagger to jam Assassin Lyon's dagger.
Assassin Lyon was slightly taken aback. His empty left hand drew yet another dagger to strike Wang Yu. Wang Yu lowered his head, used both hands to hug and push the Assassin's arm downwards. Assassin Lyon's waist was bent and his left arm missed Wang Yu.
Wang Yu's right arm jammed Assassin Lyon's right arm and as the left hand missed its attack, Wang Yu took out another dagger to jam his left arm too.
Presently, Assassin Lyon's arms intersected each other. Wang Yu jammed the dagger in an extremely peculiar angle as all four daggers were jammed together. It would be impossible to break free using just brute force. Therefore, Assassin Lyon couldn't use his wrist to execute any attacks and could only move his entire arm.

If Assassin Lyon threw away his daggers now, he would be able to break free. In <>, if a BOSS initiate to throw away the weapons, it will be equivalent to dropping equipment… Even an intelligent NPC couldn't do anything about this system.
Just like that, a pitiful level 50 Ancient BOSS was restrained by a level 35 player.
"Attack him!" This was the moment when Wang Yu instructed Lone Vagrant Guest and One Page Book to attack.
The two Thieves wielded their daggers and ran towards the BOSS. Backstab, Throatcut and many other different skills were used against Assassin Lyon.

...
A series of numbers appeared on top of Assassin Lyon's head.
Assassin Lyon struggled agitatedly as he attempted and looked as though he was determined to kill everyone in front of him. He waved his arms around in a desperate attempt.
However, the system preset that as long as the weapon didn't hit the target, the target wouldn't suffer any damage.
This was just like how Wang Yu used skills to throw people on the ground, they would only suffer the damage from when they hit the ground.
Currently, Assassin Lyon was exerting an extreme amount of strength to swing his arms. Wang Yu looked as though he was stuck to the arms as he casually moved together with his arms. Wang Yu was constantly dissolving his power.
"Argh! I will never let you off!"
Assassin Lyon was like an elephant which fell into a quagmire. No matter how much force he exerted, he was unable to do anything about his current situation. All he could do was to cry out loud.
Lone Vagrant Guest and One Page Book really knew how to have fun in such a situation too. Seeing how Wang Yu had fought the BOSS, they knew that attacks on him wouldn't result in high damages. Therefore, they gave up on using skills to attack him, Instead, they simply used their dagger and started attacking non-stop.
Assassins were all nimble so the speed of their attacks was even more outstanding as compared to an Archer.

…
The duo's swung their daggers around swiftly and five minutes later, there was finally a small visible gap in Assassin Lyon's health bar.
"Brother Bull, how long more can you last?"
Looking at this scene, Lone Vagrant Guest was pleasantly surprised as he asked Wang Yu.
If Wang Yu could continue putting Assassin Lyon off like that, defeating Assassin Lyon wouldn't be a huge problem.
Even though Wang Yu was constantly on the move, he looked very relaxed. Hearing Lone Vagrant Guest's question, he shouted, "As long as you want…"
If this was in real life, killing someone like that would require a large amount of stamina. However, the game didn't have any stamina status so a player's stamina could be assumed to be infinite. Despite moving around the whole time, Wang Yu didn't feel tired at all.
Moreover, the BOSS would have been dead due to exhaustion if stamina was taken into consideration.
"Then you have to hang on!" Lone Vagrant Guest answered before continuing to work hard to stab the BOSS.
The reason why Ancient BOSSes were hard to deal with was because they had a lot of secret techniques. If he was killed so easily by these three minions, he would have been ridiculed by his fellow Ancient BOSS.
"Grrrr!"
Just when Lone Vagrant Guest was enjoying his work, Assassin Lyon let out a huge cry and his body flashed in red. He activated his Super Armour as One Page Book and Lone Vagrant Guest flew outwards.
Wang Yu was directly facing Assassin Lyon and hence, able to see this move coming. Before he could get hit, he abandoned the daggers promptly before retreating to the side.
After the red radiance, a black radiance emerged around his body and he regained maximum health again. After that, he laughed wildly, "Hahaha, I am a phoenix from the ashes! You irritating b*stards can forget about killing me if you cannot pierce through my heart!"

Author here, just wanted to say that if the synopsis did not sound as exciting as I had hoped it would be, try reading the first 10 chapters? I promise it won't be terrible! :) Whoops, forgot to mention, prologues don't count as chapters! If you've read this far, I might as well tell you what I was inspired by! However, this does NOT mean my story will be similiar in any way to the novels/stories/books listed below. By 'inspiration,' I refer to mainly how the characterizations plot devices, dialogue, conflict introduction/resolution, and thought processes are used and introduced in those works of literature. But in a way, you can interpret this list as, "if the author read and was inspired by these novels, then it's possible that we share similiar tastes, so I'll give this story a try." :) -Those Who Aspired to Become Gods: A darker fairy tale novel (My all-time fantasy favorite despite it being unfinished) -Forgotten Conqueror (Second all-time fantasy favorite) -Brandon Sanderson's The Reckoning trilogy (Third all-time fantasy favorite) -Kel Kade's 'King's Dark Tidings' -Brent Week's Night Angel saga -Red Rising trilogy -Infinite Realm: Monsters & Legends -Reborn: Apocalypse -Reborn: Evolving From Nothing -48 Hours a Day -The New World -Creep -Arrogant Young Master Template A Variation 4 -Can't Cure Deceit -Super Minion -Unparalleled -Unbound -Wake of the Ravager -Overgeared -Solo Leveling -The Tutorial Is Too Hard [email protected] -God of Money -A Snake's Life -The Snake Report -The Tower of God -UnOrdinary -Release that Witch!

Despondent Divinity
There exists a Great Seal which split the world in two, one half ravaged by the Darkness, the other a safe haven of Light. Since the collapse of the old world, 20,000 years have passed, and the world watches on as their only protection from the Plague of Plagues slowly dissipates. Only the strong may survive the oncoming Demon horde, and the forgotten prince, Jack Calmira, fears he may not have what it takes. In a world where weakness is punished by death, what are weak men to do? Author's Note: Expect a chapter or two every month, but I'll get faster eventually. This story isn't a Wuxia, but it has a lot of eastern influence. The MC isn't OP and is flawed. Less action, more character driven. Constructive criticism would be appreciated as it's my first story. Chinese culture has inspired a lot of the novel, but much of it is an amalgamation of different cultures, some made up and some not. Think Xianxia + Shounen with a mix of western and eastern fantasy elements.
