《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 269. Unafraid of Adversities.

After the four bosses brainwashed the monsters, over 30 000 of them were buffed with a flash of green light. It was a magnificent sight to behold.
As the monsters approached, everyone buffed themselves and raised their shield in anticipation of the attack.
After the monsters inched into the archers' range, Fearless sent an order in the guild chat, "Alright, let's go!"
At the same time, he did the same in the group channel, "Archers, cover us!"
Then, as Fearless waved his staff, the four groups of Quan Zhen Sect members went straight for the bosses.
"Huh? Cover? What does he mean?" The Sanguine Alliance crowd was dumbfounded. It would be impressive to even stall these many monsters, why the hell did Fearless ask for cover?
Meanwhile, the Quan Zhen Sect members were already amongst the monsters, fighting them head on.
"What the f*ck! Do they want to die?"
Everyone from Sanguine Alliance was stupefied, including Sanguine Warflag.
For f*ck's sake, there were over 30 000 monsters. Even if they were spread out, their number should not be underestimated. The monsters were at level 35, and with the buff they had, even Quan Zhen Sect would not be able to survive.
However, reality shattered the Sanguine Alliance members' expectation. The Quan Zhen Sect members were advancing like a knife through butter, instead of getting overran.
"Such, such strength! What the hell are they thinking?"
Sanguine Warflag was already speechless.
"What...Fearless is indeed a terrifying man to be able to come up with such a strategy…"
Sanguine Stormbringer was a quick learner. He was starting to realise what was happening.
"What?" Sanguine Warflag asked, "What do you mean?"
"Warflag, did you not notice that there aren't that many monsters fighting them head on?" Sanguine Stormbringer replied.

"Is it?" Sanguine Warflag quickly looked in the direction Sanguine Stormbringer was pointing at.
The two of them were stationed at the left gate, the only Quan Zhen Sect members here were Ming Du and Yang Nuo. Just as Sanguine Stormbringer said, the two of them were only fighting against a dozen monsters.
"What the hell?" Sanguine Warflag was creeped out, "Is this witchcraft?"
"F*ck off!" Sanguine Stormbringer explained, "The monsters had to form an excessively big encirclement, making their formation weak."
As a communal space for players, the size of a guild headquarter was determined by the number of players in the guild.
When Quan Zhen Sect did their headquarters defence quest, their headquarters occupied almost 10% of Dawn Canyon with just eight people in the guild.
Sanguine Alliance had 500 people in their main guild. Their headquarter must be as big as a village, in order to fit 500 people, together with facilities and room for activities.
Even in a huge map like Viper Valley, Sanguine Alliance's headquarters took up 20% of the map.
Although the headquarters was square in shape, but the monsters surrounded them in a circle. This meant that the length of the line of monsters was the diagonal length of the headquarters multiplied by π.
Despite the number of monsters, such a huge circle meant that there were only several meters worth of monsters at each part of the circle. This made their formation weak.
Furthermore, the monsters could only attack through the gates. As long as the Quan Zhen Sect members avoided attacking the monsters at the side, they would only have to fight a dozen monsters at once.
Sanguine Warflag was impressed by their tactics when he understood what was going on. "Only the bunch of maniacs from Quan Zhen Sect could pull this off. If it was anyone else, they would have pissed their pants already." He complimented.

"That's right, Fearless is really a genius to be able to come up with such a plan." Sanguine Stormbringer was amazed too.
First, they build the headquarters without making use of the landscape. That had weakened the monsters' circle surrounding the headquarters.
Then, they exploited the monsters' aggro system, to face the monsters head on without losing.
The interconnectedness of the plan was ingenious. Despite the risks, their strength was able to compensate for it. To be able to take control of the battlefield and utilise the strength of his men like this, meant that Fearless was extremely experienced in fighting an outnumbered battle.
"This is too unnerving…"
Sanguine Stormbringer was confident in his intelligence. However, after witnessing Fearless' ingenuity, he had lost all sense of superiority.
"The next step is probably to separate the bosses from the minions."
The purpose of Quan Zhen Sect's actions was obvious now. Sanguine Stormbringer immediately sent an order in the group chat, "Archers, target the monsters to attract their aggro, but don't attack the boss!"
The archers at the left gate quickly carried out the order. They successfully attracted the monsters' aggro towards the headquarters, away from Ming Du and Yang Nuo.
The commanders at the other gates quickly followed suit, and that pulled a huge load off the Quan Zhen members' shoulders.
"Nicely done, Stormbringer!" Fearless replied in the chat. Sanguine Stormbringer suddenly felt a sense of superiority from Fearless' compliment. "What the hell, I'm starting to idolise that bastard.." Sanguine Stormbringer felt uneasy and thought to himself.
Sanguine Stormbringer was not the only one, even the players cursing at Fearless started to feel respect for the Quan Zhen Sect members.
It's a game after all. The strongest players got the most respect. It was normal to respect someone for doing something that you could not have done.
The 10 Quan Zhen Sect members attacking the thousands of monsters also brought out the hot bloodedness in the Sanguine Alliance players. They went from feeling scared to feeling excited, as if they were on steroids.
Despite Fearless' taunting, the crowd still felt unconfident against so many monsters previously.
However, the bravery of the Quan Zhen Sect members brought out the confidence in Sanguine Alliance players.
"For f*ck's sake, if the dozen of them dared to clash against tens of thousands of enemies, how can we fear when we have so many more people!"

Valor and Violence
Valor and Violence is a series of short stories following different, yet all equally colourful, characters set in the same world. Birth of a Legend, the first short, follows Captain Erskine Erwell, a newly promoted Captain in the Calandorian Royal Navy, charged with protecting his people from all who would do them harm. Great news for the Calandorian citizens, bad news for the Skjar reavers that ravage the shores in search of slaves. But when a small reaver fleet slips the net and escapes to the southern jungles of Marduk, Erwell must fight a war on two fronts; one against the raiders, and a far more difficult war against the hostile landscape. If he can't find allies in this strange land, he may end up being the one in need of saving. The first part of the second short story will be uploaded on Saturday, the 11th of June, following Ferez Ahud, an aspiring young battlemage charged with the unsavoury job of 'terminating' a rogue member of his college. But how this nobody of a mage became a fugitive remains a mystery, and when the answer is discovered, the tables are turned and the hunter becomes the prey. I'll be uploading chapters of more in-universe short stories each week or as close to, work permitting. Content Guidelines: course language and violence

Everywhere else the constant threat of a lightning swift Viking incursion loomed over the land.Growing up in this lawless world is a displaced Daynin McKinnon, heir to an ancient familial keep on the island of Rhum. He and his grandfather Ean scratch out a living amongst the Saxons, careful never to divulge their clan heritage. Little does Kruzurk know that in so doing, he will launch young Daynin, himself and others on a vast, dangerous quest that no one could have foreseen. *****One Hollywood producer has dubbed this three book fantasy epic from Jon Baxley as, "BRAVEHEART meets THE LORD OF THE RINGS." Real places, people and events flesh out this fast moving, multi-faceted semi-historical series but fear not fantasy readers. There's more than enough of the magical, mystical mayhem you have come to expect from great fantasy. Romance readers, too, will enjoy the 'spice' in these characters--and there are a lot of them--both human and otherwise.
