《World of Experts 》Chapter 86: Guo Si’s Might

“You bunch of gangsters! You all actually dared to take advantage of the time when this uncle was absent to steal away a criminal from the Bubble Forest I guarded. You all are screwed.” At the gate of Striped Stone Village, a thin middle-aged man who wasn’t very tall shouted loudly. His temperament was obviously different from those subordinates behind him. If Shi Hao was here, then he would have immediately guessed that this person might be a historical NPC.
In fact, this person was a historical NPC, and his name was Guo Si. In history, Guo Si was a General under Dong Zuo during the Three Kingdoms Period. He followed Dong Zuo for a period of time, but he also died very quickly. He was killed by his own men.
Perhaps, because of this, in >, his grade was also not high, was only C grade with commander profession. As for his unique skill, it was called Attack Enhancement.
This skill could be counted as not bad. It would instantly increase the damage output of his troops by a small degree. Moreover, as said before, in this Seafloor World where the quality of items was very lacking, this skill was very practical. Arnold relied on the +14 attack and defense buff of the skill Tyrant Soul to defeat all guards equipped with three pieces of level one items in the state of having no equipment. But Guo Si’s skill was an AOE buff of +7 attack. Although it was not as powerful as Tyrant Soul, it was also not that bad.
At this moment, Arnold blocked the gate by himself and said: “I alone did that! And I alone will take responsibility for it. Whoever wants to catch me, come and give it a try.”
Arnold was prepared to use Tyrant Soul at any time. With this skill, he might be able to escape from here. After all, his profession was knight and his speed was very fast. But no one here had a warhorse. Arnold wanted to take the blame for everything and lead a vagrant life by himself.

However, would Guo Si fulfill Arnold’s wish just like this? With a big smirk on his face, he stared at Arnold and berated: “You small fry! You are so capable. You actually dared to be so insolent in front of me. Where are the guards? Come quickly and surround him!”
In an instant, 30 soldiers under Guo Si surrounded Arnold in three layers. The encirclement was completely impenetrable. However, Arnold was not afraid of these fellows! In fact, Arnold’s Tyrant Soul skill was absolutely comparable to a unique skill of a B grade historical NPC. It was a treasure he got by luck from the mysterious place of Striped Stone Village. In fact, when everyone just learned about that place, everyone of Striped Stone Village would go to try their luck there. Even people from outside the village would also come to see. However, only Arnold had obtained such a treasure. And it was his deep secret. No one else knew about it! Over time, fewer people went to that mysterious place.
“Tyrant Soul!” Arnold roared, and his muscles and veins protruded. They looked like reinforced steel. Afterward, he attacked with all his strength. Normally, this full-powered attack was enough to force Guo Si’s soldiers to retreat three steps. Unfortunately, he had miscalculated, greatly miscalculated. Not a single person retreated even half a step.
Arnold punched a few more times, but they were useless. He was just wasting his energy.
“Hahahaha! Foolish, truly foolish. Do you think you, a small villain, can dominate this Seafloor World? What a joke! I have already seen through you! If it weren’t for someone being a bit interested in your skill and made us turn a blind eye to you, do you think you could still muddle along till today? Do you know, my formation…” The more Guo Si spoke, the more excited he became, and he explained his second skill. That skill was called Square Defense Formation.
Like this, upon a careful calculation, the level of Arnold and the soldiers under Guo Si was 70. In terms of just the basic abilities, Arnold’s attack was 350, and the defense of those soldiers was also 350 points. With the addition of buffs, Arnold’s attack would increase by 14 points (Tyrant Soul’s buff) and the defense of those soldiers under Guo Si would increase by 18 points (buffs of Square Defense Formation and equipment).

In this way, Arnold could naturally not deal any damage to those soldiers under Guo Si. He was basically helpless. Therefore, he was trapped and was caught alive.
Guo Si proudly walked over and slapped Arnold several times as if he was provoking. In fact, he wanted to directly kill Arnold, but someone had ordered him to just capture but not kill Arnold. And since someone above had ordered him like this, he was helpless. So, he could only provoke Arnold a little, but couldn’t harm his life.
However, Guo Si’s provocation was not just limited to this.
He said: “Arnold, you can rest assured! I won’t kill you. If I take you back, Lord Zhang will definitely be happy! Lord Zhang, however, is very interested in your skill. Hahahaha! But…, alas! Lord Zhang said nothing about that little girl. Hahahaha! Would you like to follow along and see? Originally, after that little girl was captured, my subordinates were waiting for my return to deal with her, but she escaped. Don’t worry, I will let you see with your own eyes how I take care of her now.”
“You bastard! You will not have a good death.” Arnold struggled. He finally understood why Mina was not bullied after she was captured in the Bubble Forest. As it turned out this Guo Si had bad intentions towards Mina, and his subordinates were naturally waiting for Guo Si’s return to get credit. Arnold kept roaring, but it didn’t have any effect. Arnold was escorted into Striped Stone Village by Guo Si’s soldiers and was led straight to Mina’s residence.
At this moment, it seemed that there was still an hour left before Shi Hao completed the defense mission. But this extremely short period of an hour was enough to change Mina’s destiny. At this critical moment, who would come forward to resist Guo Si for Mina and let Mina survive this life and death moment? ‘Who (singular)’ won’t do!
But ‘who (plural)’ could unite as one and risk their lives to give it a try.
“Mina! Don’t be afraid, you have us.” ‘Who (plural)’ were those people under Arnold. They naturally stepped forward bravely. They had received an order from Arnold to protect the little goddess, Mina. Mina had always been the future wife of their Boss Arnold in their hearts. They absolutely couldn’t not do anything at this moment.
However, Mina already had no worries in her heart. She didn’t want anyone to make any sacrifice for her. She had already made up her mind to commit suicide! Eh? Perhaps you are asking, isn’t it very hard to commit suicide in >? You cannot reduce your own HP unless you jump off a building. But there doesn’t seem to be any tall buildings here. So, how did Mina plan to commit suicide? As a matter of fact, Mina planned to take poison to commit suicide. She had already prepared a poison. It was a poisonous treasure she picked up from the garbage. Originally, it was a poison sac of a certain poisonous sea beast. After eating it, Mina would die without a doubt.
Now, Mina was ready to take out that poison sac from her inventory at any time. As long as the situation reached the final irrecoverable stage, she would decisively take her own life.
And the situation was moving towards that step, gradually developing…

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
