《World of Experts 》Chapter 11: Genuinely Joining the Group

Li Yi rushed back to them and said as he grinned, “Let’s go, take me to see your troop.”
“Eh?” Shi Hao was still bewildered, thus he asked, “Uncle, what exactly do you mean?”
Li Yi scratched his head awkwardly. Then, he threw the skill book that was dropped from Shifting Tiger to Shi Hao. He said, “I didn’t pay attention just now and misheard what you said, sorry. Let’s go, since you have a troop then it’ll do!”
Shi Hao lowered his head and took a look at the ‘Powerful Attack’ skill book, then lifted his head to look at Li Yi. He suddenly became sullen. How could he even mishear!? What the f*ck!
At this time, Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao didn’t care to go and get rid of Shifting Tiger’s new base anymore. They immediately took Li Yi back to the village.
Along the way, Shi Hao had already told Li Yi all about Twin Dragons Village.
Li Yi was pretty astonished. This lad was a newcomer who had just established a village for a few days, with the population of nearly one hundred people. Li Yi knew very well that building a village wasn’t an easy thing to do. In fact, historical NPCs could establish a village by themselves and become an overlord. However, historical NPCs were restricted by the system, they can’t enter the zone of influence of players’ Novice Village. The rewards set up by the system were mostly accumulated in Novice Village. For instance, the ‘foolish’ boss, Red Tiger King. One could get a Village Building Order just by killing a few of the tigers. This was a great advantage for the novice which can’t be found anywhere else. Shi Hao’s Village Building Order was also established thanks to the ‘foolish’ boss, Red Tiger King of Novice Village. Therefore, it’d be very difficult for historical NPCs to get a Village Building Order without the help of Novice Village’s system.
“Old Wang, come out quickly.” Shi Hao said happily, “Have all of our village’s soldiers returned?”
Wang Fu walked out slowly. He took a glance at the dark-skinned burly man and immediately knew that he was a historical NPC. He responded, “After they’re done gathering food and water, they proceed to go out to temper themselves. They went to the place where the chiefs killed the bandits.”

Hearing Wang Fu’s words, Shi Hao didn’t hesitate and hurriedly dragged Feng Tianhao and Li Yi and went straight to where the soldiers went. After all, if they waited any longer, things might take a different turn.
A few moments later, Shi Hao, Feng Tianhao and Li Yi ran across the 14 soldiers who promptly approached them head-on. As they could see, all of the soldiers have reached level 3. Among them, there were 8 fighters, 3 knights, and 3 archers. All of them were in unison and very lively.
This was ordinary. These 14 capable men had flourished their skills for the sake of becoming Twin Dragons Village’s heroes in a few days. They received a great amount of love and respect from all of the villagers.
“Pleasure meeting the chiefs!” The 14 soldiers spoke in unison.
Li Yi’s eyes gleamed. He walked forward and scrutinized the soldiers from head to foot thrice.
Li Yi said, “Nice! Nice! Nice! You’ll follow me in the future. I’ll be your leader!”
The soldiers suddenly tightened the grip on the weapon in their hand, then glared at Li Yi sternly. They had no idea who this madman might be, because they couldn’t size people up like Wang Fu could. Wang Fu immediately knew that he was a historical NPC just by a glance. It was also thanks to Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao’s help that they could recruit and bring him back.
“Take it easy!” Hearing Li Yi’s words, Shi Hao spontaneously understood that Li Yi basically had agreed to join their force.
Shi Hao said, “This is Master Li Yi, a new member of our village. He’ll be guiding you on how to defend the village from now on.”
Feng Tianhao smiled. “Now, put away your weapons. Go meet your commander immediately.”
Being given instructions by the village chiefs, the 14 soldiers uniformly obey the orders.
Li Yi hit his chest joyfully and took the soldiers to a more distant place to continue their training. That was because Li Yi knew very well that not long after the village was established, there would certainly be a large number of bandits gathering together to invade them. Now they should hurriedly destroy the bandits one by one while rising the soldiers’ level in passing. That way, they would be able to handle the latter problems more easily.

Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao didn’t delay any more time, either. They promptly began their frantic levelling ups.
Eventually, Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao’s rank have risen to level 6 consecutively after the sky had turned dark. They returned to the village and Wang Fu reported the village’s circumstances in detail right away.
[Name: Twin Dragon Village]

[Public Security: 75 (affects residents’ security)]

[Village Level: 1]

In summary, as long as they could keep the balance between the consumption and collection of food and water, they could have some more surplus every day. The population was also growing larger and larger. Nevertheless, public security and popular support were also growing. At least in the last few days, there weren’t any cases of life-threatening incidents. Better yet, most of the villagers’ residents consisted of strategists! Their efficiency was pretty good. They have put the village’s farmland under the plough, and they would also restore the well in a few days.
Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao felt relieved upon seeing the maintenance of the village’s activities had essentially prevailed.
However, this was only the first step towards success. The buildings in the village were yet to be established. The number of housing wasn’t enough, which might result in someone sleeping rough on the streets. If the number of homeless people increased, the public security would decrease and they might lose population support. If this problem persisted, it would cause a commotion, which would result into the entire village being completely wrecked down by its own villagers. At that time, everything would return to zero in a night. Fortunately, Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao need not to worry too much about these things, because the NPCs given by the system have great capabilities.
Wang Fu promptly reminded them, “Village chiefs, since the problem about basic maintenance of the village has been resolved. Next, it’s time for us to further develop the village. The utmost priority is to expand the housing, then general store, smithy, and tailor shop were second priority. Without housing, the villagers won’t work hard and would be prone to cause chaos. Without a general store, smithy, and tailor shop, we won’t be able to provide gears for the soldiers. Our military strength is fundamental for survival, so we must strengthen it as soon as possible.”
Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao clearly had no objection.
Shi Hao pursed his lips into a grin, then said, “What Old Wang said is right. You have full authorities to handle these. We’re pretty much at ease thanks to you. Hehe.”
Wang Fu was deeply moved, he was grateful to tears. He left after bidding his farewell.
It could be said that even though the NPCs had intelligent personification, they didn’t have shambles of thoughts like the players. Within the game system’s settings, the NPCs’ value was very simple. As long as the player was sincere towards the NPC, the NPC would also be sincere towards the player. Certainly, there would be exceptions for some historical NPCs with their own distinctive traits.
Right at this moment, Li Yi came back with his troop of 14 soldiers.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
