《Netheril’s Glory 》Chapter 120: The Mentor and The Apprentice.

After Punk had uncovered the information he wanted, he left the small town of Niailan. Soon after leaving the town, he found out that Ti Xiaer's movements were becoming bigger and bigger, and all her believers had a tendency to stay as close as possible to the city of Dolez.
All signs were indicating that Ti Xiaer's big move was about to come. So Punk, without wasting any time, decided to go to the Dolez City as soon as possible and then find some allies and a group of cannon fodder.
Punk was not accustomed to riding carriages, so he simply blessed himself with a swiftness spell and then rushed towards the city of Dolez followed by the restored No. 1.
The speed of an official-level mage was very impressive, and Punk, who set off from Niailan town at noon, had arrived at the city of Dolez in the afternoon.
But just when he wanted to enter the city directly, he suddenly noticed a familiar mana fluctuation.
"It's that little girl Bilan. This idiot isn't dead yet?"
Seeing Bilan looking in his direction in horror from a distance, Punk remembered that he actually had such an apprentice.
Punk Recently discarded his plan to make Bilan into a transformed soul, so naturally, he didn't care much about her. The reason for this sudden change in his plan was that, firstly, his current level was not enough to transform the souls of professionals, and then there was the issue of his reputation which now he needed the most for his plan to find allies.
"Since I'm going to pretend to be a mage who has a strange temper but a kind heart, letting my only apprentice die would definitely not fit well with it. I have to do something about this girl."
Punk thought secretly in his heart. The impression he had left on the people of Dolez city was awful. So if he went to seek cooperation in this situation, everyone would probably be wary of him and even might stab him in the back at the very first chance, so it was in his best interest to pretend to be a soft-hearted cold-faced wizard, so at least those priests who were always looking for faults would not come to conclusions too quickly.
As without definite evidence, the gods of the lawful camp and their priests wouldn't accuse anyone at will, as long as there was no evidence to prove that he had the tendency of the evil camp, even if the pastors hated him to the bone, they have to cooperate seriously.

With this in mind, Punk slowed down, turned around, and went to Bilan's tent. Through the prophecy magic, he already knew that Bilan and Dickie were in love, but obviously, she didn't have the guts to tell their story when she was in the White Tower.
Although Punk has slowed down significantly, in the eyes of Bilan and Dickie, his figure still looked like a blurred shadow as he appeared on the place in front of their tent.
Dickie stared at Punk, who suddenly appeared in front of him in a daze. Although he instinctively stood in front of the trembling Bilan, Dickie, who had never seen an official-level professional, felt a rising fear from the deepest part of his soul.
As a bard, Dickie heard the deeds of many professionals from stories. Still, he was just a teenager after all, and he had never left the area of Dolez. The only professional he had close contact with was Bilan, who always had a kind and harmless aura. So Dickie even started to think that all professionals were just like her.
But when he faced Punk, who was about the same height as him, Dickie felt like he had fallen into an icy cave. The only things he could feel were cold and suffocation. Those pair of cold pupils, matched with the mysterious and strange black robe, created a kind of silent terror in Dickie's heart that seemed to obliterate all hope and beauty in the world.
It was not until this time that Dickie understood why the mere mention of this official mage's name was enough to make Bilan tremble.
It was not only the terror on the outside but also crushing hopelessness on the soul level.
Punk coldly stared at the trembling little boy in front of him, and Bilan, who was clutching the boy's clothes tightly. The two young lovers cuddled together and shivered, which made him look like a big bad wolf blocking the way of a little white rabbit.
Punk looked at Bilan speechlessly. He couldn't understand why this apprentice of his, who had the guts to create trouble for him, was so frightened at this time. But this did not prevent Punk from making a show.
The priests around who were helping the refugees all looked at this place, where suddenly an unknown official-level powerhouse appeared from a distance. Several soldiers hurriedly ran to inform Knight Commander Casser. Punk knew that as long as he behaved kindly at this time and expressed his incline toward the good camp, then when he took out the evidence against the Ti Xiaer Church and asked for help, the pastors of the church would not be able to refuse, so he spoke in his softest possible voice:

"Hello, my dear apprentice, we meet again."
Due to his usual taciturnity, what Punk thought was a soft tone, sounded cold and lifeless to others.
In Bilan's view, Punk was extremely angry, which was expected as not only she left the white tower disobeying his order but also messed up the experimental platform in order to search for medicine.
Touching a mage's experimental platform without authorization could be said to be an act of provocation, so Bilan was very scared at this time. She was afraid of being killed by Punk, afraid of being dissected as an experimental subject, and afraid of ending up like those slaves whose soul was extracted and experimented on.
But the thing she was even more afraid of was implementing Dickie.
"At least... ...at least I have to save Dickie."
Bilan had only this thought in her mind at this time of crisis.
"Mr. mentor, I'm very sorry. I left the White Tower without your permission and moved the experimental platform. This is an unforgivable sin. If there is any punishment, I will have no complaints, but I beg you to spare Dickie, please... all this has nothing to do with him; it is all my fault."
Bilan's eyes were red, large teardrops ran through her delicate face, and the girl began to beg Punk loudly. Her two slender jade hands gripped her skirt to keep her body from trembling too much. But in fact, her clothes were already completely soaked in sweat which accentuated her beautiful curves.
"No, Bilan, what are you talking about? You were only trying to save people. What's wrong with that? Were we going to let that child die without even trying?"
Dickie also reacted after being stunned for a while when he saw Punk. He keenly sensed that the official mage in front of him was definitely not a kind professional like Bilan.
Although Bilan refused to tell him what she had experienced in the White Tower that made her often awake up in the middle of the night in terror no matter how many times he asked, Dickie had already realized that everything in the White Tower must be very, very terrible and the official mage there must also be very, very scary.
But now, seeing Bilan, who was usually a calm and quiet person, crying and pleading, Dickie somewhat understood the extent of that terror.
Although Dickie was a teenager, he was still a man, and he was determined to protect his lover, Bilan. He couldn't let Bilan bear all this alone, so he spoke without hesitation.
"Dickie...you..."
Bilan was very anxious when she heard Dickie's words. She was terrified that Dickie would provoke the crazy and evil Punk and would be killed by a fireball.
But Dickie gently pressed his index finger against Bilan's lips to stop her from continuing.
"Bilan, didn't you said that we would face it together no matter what struggles comes our way?"
In the setting suns, Dickie's hair reflected a bright golden light.
"Dickie..."
Bilan felt that as long as she was with Dickie, everything would be ok, and even if it was death or something more terrifying, as long as... Dickie was by her side; she could face it.
Punk watched this dumb couple staging a death-do-us-part farewell in front of him and really didn't know what to say for a moment. The word "speechless" would not be enough to describe his mood right now.
Punk was really a little confused about why these two created such a fuss at his greeting that it was starting to make him look like a heinous villain.
Facing the group of staring priests and looking at Bilan and Dickie, who were hugging and crying, Punk had the impulse to turn around and pretend not to recognize them for the first time.
But an impulse was just that, an impulse, and he had to act according to the plan.
In the end, Punk twitched the corners of his lips slightly to squeeze out a stiff smile and then walked forward to pat the heads of the two lovers; and then pretended to be very helpless and said:
"You two idiots, why would I punish a talent like her?"
