《Netheril’s Glory 》Chapter 91: Death of the Phantom spider.

The two clones of the fat spider were highly realistic, and Punk could not distinguish the real from the current three spiders. So, just to be on the safe side, he decided to attack all three of them simultaneously.
Punk ordered No. One to release the Steel binding spell at the spider on the far left first, in case these three beasts had some kind of combination attack together.
Accompanied by the twisting and crunching sound of metal, a large number of steel bars appeared beside the spider at the left. All the steel bars then started to bend and spread around its body and finally bounded its entire fat body with the surrounding trees and ground.
Finally, a tight cage made with many twisted steel bars successfully restricted one of the fat spider's movements. While the restricted spider started to struggle desperately to free itself, the remaining two spiders had already rushed toward Punk.
The duration of the Steel binding was about fifteen seconds, so Punk had to deal with the two rushing fat spiders within this short time.
The two spiders were rushing over mindlessly, and it seemed like they planned to attack Punk by just relying on their massive size and not-so-strong brute force. Although their indomitable momentum indeed looked very impressive from the surface, but that was it, just a show. Unfortunately, this kind of chaotic attack style had very limited potential to deter smart enemies like a mage.
And before even the two fat spiders reached halfway, No. one again took action and stopped one of the spiders in midway. Now the only remaining spider, without realizing that its two companions were completely blocked, rushed forward while showing its eight blood-red eyes.
But before it had the chance to reach Punk, along with a loud sonic boom, a lavender energy cone appeared in front of its eyes.
Punk had just completed and released an Official-level spell-Kinetic energy Cone toward the spider's body. This official level Incantation spell shot a fast rotating kinetic energy cone with a powerful penetrating power toward the enemy.
Within a thousandth of a second, the kinetic energy cone traveled a distance of more than fifty meters and hit the fat spider's body.

The compressed kinetic energy and the high-speed rotation of the kinetic energy cone shredded the fat spider shell while making a continuous harsh friction sound. Then the strong kinetic energy cone easily drilled into the fat spider's body through the thin layer of its shell and left a bowl-sized hole on the entry.
Subsequently, a large amount of green blood spewed out from the small hole along with the crushed pieces of meat and some powdered shell. The green blood soon soaked a large area of the Jungle near the spider.
The fat spider let out a frantic roar, but it had no way to prevent its internal organs from being torn apart and spraying out of the body like a fountain under the drilling force of the kinetic energy cone. This force was so great that a large number of cracks even appeared on the outside of its shell.
Although the kinetic energy cone did not come out of the opposite side of the spider, but it had undoubtedly penetrated deep into its body, and the violent kinetic energy also destroyed most of its internal organs.
The spider couldn't make a second roar; its heavy body fell on the green grass where already a large amount of green flesh and blood had piled up.
Finally, after a few moments, its red eyes dimmed.
Dead!
On the other side, with the death of this fat spider, the clone still struggling inside the Steel binding and the clone facing No. One turned into a black mist and disappeared. Obviously, which one Punk killed was the main body of the fat spider.
"This fragile! Can't even endure a single attack?"
Punk did not relax his vigilance because of the death of the enemy in front of him. He used several prophecy spells one after another and finally relaxed after confirming that the enemy inside of the cave did not discover his actions.
After supplementing the energy of the Silent Domain, Punk looked at the corpse of the fat spider whose arthropods were still twitching from time to time. Although he was curious about its body's structure, he did not rush forward to perform a post-mortem immediately. After all, even if It was dead, that didn't mean that there was no possibility of counterattack anymore.

Punk used two or three kinetic energy bursts in a row until the spider's arthropods and head were entirely blown opened, then he cautiously ordered No. One to step forward and check.
This kind of creature with obvious traces of transformation should not be approached carelessly, as there was no guarantee that its creator had not installed any self-destruction methods. There were countless such instances where the victor died under the self-destruction of their enemy's corpse.
So how could Punk, as a cautious mage, take such a risk unnecessarily.
Although he didn't approach it personally, with the help of No. one's eyes, Punk could very closely observe the fragmented fat spider.
Under Punk's order, No. one used its scarlet claws to tear open the belly of the spider.
As soon as No. one started to tear the spider's body, a large amount of shattered internal organs slipped out of the wound, and a pungent smell began to spread throughout the Jungle..
No. one looked carefully at the fat spider's sliced internal organs stained with viscous green blood. Through No. one's eyes, Punk found that its internal organs were mostly deformed and bloated, and although kinetic energy cone destroyed most of them, he was sure that at least 50% of the internal organs were already useless. And the only intact things were the engraved spell model on its back and the energy receiving device implanted into its heart.
Punk was stroking his smooth chin with a thoughtful expression on his face. To him, this beast spider didn't seem like an alchemy creature; instead, it looked like it went through mutation with the help of some kind of unknown energy. And, although this mutation gave this spider such great illusion ability, it also significantly weakened its other body tissues. After all, even if the development of a typical official level creature was a bit forced, it wouldn't be as weak as this fat bug, where it didn't have a single high point, no proper wisdom, speed, strength, or defense............ Except for the illusion with the help of the magic formation, it was a complete waste.
"No wonder it was sent to guard the gate!"
But what really surprised Punk was that there was no trace of abnormal operation on the body of this mutant spider, and if it was not for the apparent irregularity with its vitality, Punk would have doubted whether if this guy was born deformed.
So now the question was, what kind of influence caused the spider to mutate into what it was now?
"There is still too little information."
Punk shook his head helplessly. Now he had too little information to make an educated guess.
"It seems... this spider cave really has something very unusual... "
The weird mutation of this Phantom spider made Punk more interested in the spider cave. Without further delay, he skilfully bypassed the body of the fat spider and the large pieces of meat on the ground and jumped several times until he reached the cave entrance.
The warning magic formation at the entrance of the cave was not a hindrance for Punk. With his excellent alchemy knowledge, he could easily crack such a common formation. Punk just used a few spells to block the connection between the three critical runes at the same time, and with that, this trigger-type formation became just a decoration.
Now, with even greater curiosity than before, Punk walked carefully into the spider cave.
The entrance of the spider cave was a long slope with a lot of jagged rocks and bumps. Some sparse lavender moss grew on the rock wall, and there was no presence of any sound or light in this cave. The deep and gloomy cave entrance looked like a big mouth patiently waiting for some unfortunate adventurer to enter.
"It almost looks like the unfolding of a plot, right?"
Punk murmured to himself and then blessed himself with a night vision and a sound suppressing spell and walked into the cave without hesitation...
Of course, No. 1 was walking in front.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
