《Netheril’s Glory 》Chapter 90: The Phantom spider.

In the face of an enemy suddenly falling from the sky, Punk had no time to look up. His first reaction was to bless himself with an official level spell, "Speed burst," without hesitation.
Speed burst was an Incantation spell that converted a large amount of etheric energy into kinetic energy, and then it could be attached to something to make it accelerate in a fixed direction at ten times the speed of sound.
Using this spell, Punk instantly gained a sudden burst of extreme speed and easily avoided the attack from above. Although he knocked down several trees in a row because of the uncontrollable excessive speed, but he also successfully created some distance from the enemy.
During the sprint, Punk look up and keenly noticed a few transparent filaments on some tree branches. Seeing this, he instantly used kinetic energy bursts to destroy several of those big trees.
Obviously, the enemy was hiding on top of his head using these filaments, and as all of these were hidden by the illusion, Punk failed to notice them before.
Although Punk crashed into some trees and also deliberately destroyed some, but with the protection of the mage armor, there was no trace of dust or dirt on his body. And as the flame created by the cursed fire had already disappeared, he could be said to have escaped this sneak attack unharmed.
Standing up from the pile of broken wood on the ground, Punk once again blessed himself with an official-level swiftness spell and then ordered No. 1, who was still standing in place, to stop the enemy. Punk wanted to observe the enemy's means in order to form a risk-free and effective countering plan.
The enemy's sharp long legs stabbed deeply into the ground and created long cracks on the hard rocky ground. As the cloud of dust slowly dissipated a tall figure was gradually revealed.
It was a deformed spider with a height of more than three meters. The spider looked like a big fat man with a huge body, but its eight pairs of limbs were extremely short. Punk would have thought that this guy was a big caterpillar if it weren't for the iconic eight eyes.

However, although its body was bloated, the Fat Spider's movements were very fast. When it realized that its attack had failed to hit the target, it immediately made a low growl and rushed toward Punk while showing its teeth.
But it failed to notice the unmoving flesh golem next to it, so Punk, seeing the fat spider rushing toward him angrily, ordered No. 1 to go forward and block.
After receiving Punk's order, the flesh golem let out a furious roar, and with its sharp claws, which were filled with pale red abyssal energy, dashed directly in front of the rushing spider.
"boom!!!"
After a loud noise came a strong shock wave that overturned the surrounding trees and rocks, and the splashing stone fragments, which were like fragmentation grenade left deep holes in the thick trees.
The collision between the Flesh Golem and the fat Spider was extremely fierce, and the result of this fierce impact was that the flesh Golem retreated several meters while creating deep footprints on the ground, but the fat spider, even with the speed advantage, suffered more severe damage. The armor on its head was now filled with large cracks, and green blood was slowly flowing out of them. The fat spider let out a loud roar that was filled with endless anger and a trace of fear.
However, because Punk had already released a spell to block the sound from spreading, the spider's sharp scream did not alert any birds or beasts in the Jungle.
Punk calmly looked at the big spider that was stopped by No. 1. Because he wanted to enter the cave without alarming the enemy, he had cast the official-level spell Silent Domain long before the spider's sneak attack.
Silent Domain/Mute field was an Incantation Spell that, when used, could create a broad spherical domain that would cover a large area from where ordinary sound and vibrations could not escape.
With this Domain, Punk could safely deal with this spider without alerting whoever was inside the cave.
From the giant spider's charge, Punk could see that the opponent's attack power was not very high, and also there was no usage of energy on its charge; it was just a sprint with brute force, and its primary defense method also seemed to be just its outer shell.

The most important thing was that Punk now discovered the entrance of the spider cave, which was previously hidden by the illusion. The opening of the cave was covered with layers of thick spider webs. And the threads of these webs were actually filled with countless tiny runes. From the formation of the runes, Punk guessed that it should be a combination of defensive and buffing magic formation, and there was also a warning formation connected with it.
"This should be the defensive formation that defended against my cursed fire spell. It seems as long as this formation is not destroyed, the warning formation will not be triggered, but this buff formation..."
Punk thought about it in his mind and looked at the fat spider that was now staring at the Flesh golem with its blood-red eyes...
"It seems that this Buff formation is boosting some ability of this big spider. But which ability!"
Punk lifted the emerald staff gently.
Suddenly the fat spider screamed menacingly at the Flesh Golem, and a bright spell model started to gleam on its carapace. Its body suddenly deflated a little, and then another two identical spiders were separated from its body. This spider beast impressively used an official-level spell- Mirror clone. The official-level spell Mirror clone creates two identical clones to confuse the opponents, but as the clone's attributes were only one percent of the main body, it was extremely fragile.
(Note: Nearly half of the clone's mana will be used for the initial ultra-short-distance teleportation.)
Seeing that this bloated beast actually used spell, Punk couldn't help but be a little surprised. It wasn't a sudden increase in the number of enemies that surprised Punk, but it was the effectiveness of its spell. It was perfect.
Even after using the True vision spell, he could not distinguish the real spider between the three identical fat spiders.
Punk couldn't help but frown. From the inconsistency with its vitality, he knew that the spider had been modified. The person who created this creature was not very skilled, as most of the modification was very basic. And it was the weakest official-level creature in Punk's knowledge, and except for that somewhat outrageously perfect illusion ability, this fat bug's various attributes were not worth mentioning.
But its illusion ability could be said best even amongst official-level spells. And from the fact that he couldn't found a single flaw in it from the beginning to the end, it was evident that this illusion was much stronger than even the Illusion demon that Punk encountered in the abyss.
"Sure enough, this guy is just a gatekeeper."
Punk was now sure that this spider was specially created to hide the opening of the Spider cave, and it was not intended to be used in combat, So the Buff and sneak attack mechanisms were created just to give it a fighting chance.
Punk secretly analyzed while preparing his spell.
After observation, Punk found that the magic formation engraved at the entrance of the spider cave has been transmitting energy to the big spider. However, despite that, the fat spider's fighting ability was still this miserable, so Punk was almost sure that the buff of this circle might be aimed at the fat spider's illusion ability, which would also explain the reason for its extraordinary illusion ability.
"So, this fat bug is just relying on the power of the magic formation!"
Punk breathed a sigh of relief in his heart. After all, if the owner of the spider cave could easily give a beast such an unbreakable illusion ability, Punk would have to consider the option of retreat seriously. At present, he could not afford to provoke a person with such powerful skills.
But..... Since the big spider in front of him was just a fox disguised as a tiger, he didn't have anything to worry about.
Punk sneered secretly in his heart while controlling the spell that was already completed.

Hey, what would you do after you got isekai-ed? Me? Look! A cockroach villain has appeared. Let's kill him before he messes things up. Too cruel? See over there, that's a trash young master type right there. What do I do? Endure the initial insults and provocation then dispose of him when no one sees of course. Why make things difficult? Hmm, a pretty girl in peril. Potential love interest there… but no, I have enough problems as it is. At the very least, I won't help her just 'cause she's a female. Same goes for males. What? I support gender equality. Hey, I know the clichés, what did you think I was going to do? Simply let it run its course? Sorry for the random tiny chapters. I structured and uploaded this as a series of scenes, some of which just didn't need to be very long. I could probably attach the "sub-scenes" to previous chapters, but that'd only be covering it up, so I'm not sure its worth it. Anyway if you find them annoying, let me know, and I'll put some more thought into it. I did, at least, make a point of always posting at least a thousand words on any given day (after I noticed the problem), which hopefully mitigates the problem.
