《Netheril’s Glory 》Chapter 12: Battle.

When the Ogre saw that the two "little bugs" were running away, it roared and started to chase them with stride.
Soon the Ogre was led by Punk and Kane about two hundred meters away from the little donkey. The Ogre, who love to eat human flesh, had never considered giving up on them and going after the donkey.
The Ogre was rushing toward them while holding the big wooden stick in its right hand, which was stained with some unknown animals' blood. There was a hideous grin on the Ogre's scarred face, and large drops of saliva were dripping down from the gaps between its yellowy black fangs.
"Damn, this thing's silly expression is just too much ~ It's disgusting!"
Kane cursed and pored battle Qi on his lance and started to rotate clockwise around the Ogre. He was approaching the Ogre at the speed of a sports car while also avoiding the Ogre's big wooden stick.
A large amount of battle Qi gathered on the lance's tip, and the whole lance started shining with brilliant golden light; because of this, the lance looked like it was made with pure gold. As a close-quarter combatant, Kane's strongest power could only be exerted at short range.
Simultaneously, under the spell of secondary swiftness, Punk rotated around the Ogre counterclockwise at a speed that was not inferior to Kane while staying away from the range of the Ogre's attack. As a mage, long-range was his best and safest option.
The not-so-smart Ogre could not instantly decide on a target, as both were moving in a different direction. --- "should it choose the cheesecake that was delivered itself to its mouth and cushion his stomach or continue to chase the maple syrup cake scurrying in the distance."--- Facing such a difficult choice, the Ogre didn't know which one to choose for a while, and it stopped its charging.
"Hah!"
Kane seized this opportunity and gather battle Qi in his feet, and with a loud shout, launched a fighting technique with full strength. Kane's body was shooting toward the Ogre like a bullet while making a loud sonic boom in the air. A circular shock wave swept the grass within two meters around Kane's location, and whenever his feet landed on the ground, it formed a one-meter deep pit while also scattering a lot of debris around. Kane's pupils were dyed golden by his raging battle Qi, and the lance filled with battle Qi created a cone-shaped airwave around it, and it was piercing toward the Ogre's heart fiercely.

The Ogre never thought that the little bug in front of him would suddenly attack, especially with such extreme speed, to it which looked like a golden flash.
The swiftness of the attack was entirely beyond the limit of the Ogre's reaction speed. However, in front of life-threatening danger, the Ogre's instinct kicked in and drove its body slightly to the side, which prevented its heart from being pierced by the lance.
But still, it opened a large wound in its abdomen, and a large amount of blood and meat spewed out from it that dyed Kane's armor dark red.
The Ogre howled loudly from the excruciating pain and swung its paws at Kane fiercely, but Kane already pulled out his lance and retreated after kicking its large body when he saw that the Ogre was not fatally injured. The Ogre's claws only scratched Kane's chest plate, which created some sparks and left a deep mark on the silver armor.
The severe injury didn't make the Ogre timid; instead, the pain thoroughly stimulated its fierceness. Again after howling loudly, it slammed the wooden club toward Kane fiercely. The wound on its abdomen was so deep that the squirming internal organs could be seen, but the wound stopped bleeding because the strong muscles around the injury tightly blocked the blood vessels. So excessive blood loss was no longer a problem for the Ogre.
Just as the Ogre smashed with its club, at that moment, Punk's spell finally arrived.
Apprentice-level curse spell- "secondary stun," as a curse spell, it could travel instantaneously no matter the distance. So the only way to counter it was to either interception when casting or precalculated defense.
But of course, that kind of profound and complex skill was not something that an ogre's poor brain could do.
The etheric energy was transformed into a chaotic mental force that violently impacted the mind of the Ogre. The angry Ogre was unprepared for such attacks on a psychic level. When this spell hit it, it became like a drunk who can't distinguish north from the south or east from the west, and the huge club narrowly swept over Kane's head.

"good job!"
Kane was overjoyed seeing this; he used the same fighting technique to charge again, but this time he used more battle Qi to increase his speed a little farther, so that he could kill the Ogre this time.
"Roar~~,"
The Ogre, which was still very dizzy, failed to avoid the deadly strike this time, and its heart was shattered by the lance, pieces of the heart mixed with blood sprayed from the hole behind its chest. A large area around it became soaked with flesh and blood.
But even after receiving such a fatal blow, the Ogre didn't instantly collapse. Instead, it roared with despair and anger, and every muscle in its body became inflated, making its body more massive. Its red skin was now covered with earthworm-like blue veins, and Its eyes became bloodshot. Somehow, the Ogre dispelled the stunt spell!
The Ogre didn't howl anymore, and after exhaling some hot air, It again swung the big wooden stick at Kane, but this time it was nearly three times faster than before.
"Shit-shit-shit, this is outrageous, this ogre is becoming crazy."
Kane started to shout abuse while putting the knight's shield from his back in front of him. And due to him madly pouring a large amount of battle Qi into the shield, its brightness became almost equal to the sun Mira in the sky.
Kane couldn't avoid these attacks, which was three times faster than before, so defending was his only option.
The air carried by the wooden stick almost created afterimages. Finally, it slams onto Kane's shield at high speed.
The dazzling golden light on Kane's shield immediately dimmed a little. A shock wave visible to the naked eye burst out from the wooden stick and the shield's impact point.
In the distance, Punk only heard a muffled sound like a giant hammer colliding with the stone that reverberated through the whole wasteland. And Kane, who was now screaming like a pig, was knocked out nearly 100 meters at speed twice as fast as his charge. Then he bounced few times on the ground like a stone drifting in the water.
Finally, His figure stopped after bouncing three times and created a giant crater in the last impact zone.
The Ogre no longer paid any attention to Kane, whom it just sent flying, but it was now leaping towards Punk step by step.
If someone asked a hunter when a beast was most dangerous, His answer always would be- When it is cornered. The Ogre, who had a fatal injury in the heart, could be said a "dead man/beast walking."
But because it had unbelievably high vitality, it could still put up a last desperate struggle. The moment its berserk state was over, was the moment of its death, so now the Ogre had only one goal. --perish together with the enemy!
But Punk already completed another spell. This was an apprentice-level spell with the most destructive power amongst Punk's arsenal, "Minor damage."
Of course, This was another curse spell with unlimited range.
Punk really didn't want to test the strength of his "secondary Mage Armor" against the berserk Ogre's attack.
Punk looked at the small gray, misty ball floating above his palm, exuding a sharp aura. Inside this ball, countless tiny blades were continuously being born and extinguished. Just by looking at the ball, someone might have the illusion that their eyes were being cut into pieces.
Punk calmly looked at the Ogre, whose whole body was emitting a wave of heat, and gently stretched his hand toward it. After that, the gray ball instantly disappeared...

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
