Celestial Peak Chapter 493

Wang Ling is a man of many things. A Scholar, a Slaughterer, and even the God of all Gods. But above all, what makes him terrifying was his intellect and wisdom and at this very moment, he was playing with the Apex Experts with only a single sentence.
"You… killed them?" Shi Huo and the others could not believe him. Not because he was weak or that the Revenants were too strong, but because even Shi Huo, the person who leads the Cosmic Eye Tower could not gather such information about the Silver Blade World, "That's impossible, according to our investigation, no one else was in the Tomb. With all due respect, Sir Ling Wudi would not have missed our radar."
"I know the Cosmic Eye Tower is competent, but sometimes, even your radar cannot see what's behind a loosely-placed rock in the middle of nowhere. Miss Shi Huo, try thinking outside of the box, aside from the event of the deaths of almost every youth inside that Tomb, what else happened?"
"There was nothin… wait, do you mean the fight between two experts!?" Shi Huo moved her hands and inside her spatial ring she brought out a pile of scrolls. They were the testimonies of the nearby onlookers, "This record says that a young man from the Sword Tower died outside the Tomb."
"A young member from the Sword Tower died!?" Tang Ai who was standing behind Kareem raised his tone, "Shi Huo! Why didn't you tell me about this before!?"
"First of all, Absolute Sword, you are currently acting as a companion, you are not to speak without being addressed. Second, this information was withheld because we couldn't have the Cosmic Eye Tower's forces spread out due to misinformation. Several things about this incident were out of place, like how an expert suddenly attacked a member of the Sword Tower and how the onlookers left the companions of said victims after the sword tower member "died", I found this particularly strange so I relegated it on the back burner for the time being. The Revenant disaster was more important."

"Shi Huo, are you telling me that if members of the Sword Tower did die, you won't tell us? Besides, you wouldn't even have had to split the Cosmic Eye Tower's forces, we could have had dealt it on our own with "
"If that's what I have to do to ensure that order of information is kept then I will be able to do my job, then yes, I will withhold the information until time passes. I especially didn't tell you about this because you would have had the Blue and Yellow Masks find the one who attacked them anyway. I couldn't have the blue and yellow masks be disturbed at the time as they were assisting us to collect information about the Revenants' appearances in the different Worlds.
"Had the operation stopped the numbers of Worlds infested with Revenants right now would have been much larger. The damage would be bigger than you could imagine, and in three months the number of Younger Generations and smaller forces that provide for future reinforcements would be halved by the Revenants' sword. And again, I know you are aggravated by this but you have violated the rules twice, once more and you'll be kicked out by them."
Yuan Qing and Yuan Ming just nodded, "Wanna see if we could actually do it?" The two Deities did not appreciate Tang Yu's blatant disregard of the rules placed by their Mother.
[I thought the Cosmic Eye Tower was thorough, but it appears that was actually an understatement.] Wang Ling was impressed.
Though Tang Yu did not want to agree with Shi Huo, at the end of it, he could only click his tongue in dismay. A member of the Sword Tower died at the hands of an unknown assailant, Tang Ai looked at Shi Huo, his eyes, though calm was still burning, "I apologize for the outburst of emotions. I was just… incapable of thinking straight."

"Don't worry about it, everyone knows that the Sword Tower must retain their names and face in order for the frontlines to function. It's understandable that little Tang Yu would be agitated like that. Besides, we don't even need to look for them, after all, we already have a lead." Zhang Jiao of the Zhang Family smiled as he looked over in Wang Ling's direction.
Underneath that mask of his, Wang Ling was smiling, he was amused, He would have wanted to let them carry on, but Tang Yu's burning gaze was enough for him to stop, "Absolute White Sword Tang Yu, no one from the Sword Tower died on that encounter. The one who was struck was actually me, and as you can see, I didn't die. The one who attacked was the Devil Emperor Naor, and the ones who fought him was Yuan Qing—"
"It was Ming." Qinyang interjected to correct.
"—that's right, it was Yuan Ming. That's about what happened. I was punched by a Devil Emperor and while others were busily trying to follow the fight between two Godly figures, we slipped out of that world and moved on with our lives. Oh yeah, the last explosion was detonated far away from where we left."
A simple explanation was given, Wang Ling's tone when talking had significantly loosened compare to when he was with the members of the younger generation. Now, he acted as though he was on the same level as the other.
Wang Ling sat there, silently, waiting for a question…
"Why did you do that?" Shi Huo could not understand Wang Ling's intention in doing such a thing.
[And there's the queue.] leaning back on the throne Wang Ling rested his body, "I want to send a message to everyone in this plateau. Though I didn't think I would be saying it to your faces and I don't mean to offend any of you peak experts by this, but here it is. I escape that place, allowed the Revenants to win, and create chaos in the Cosmos to send everyone in this plateau that—EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR ATTEMPTS HAVE NOT WON US A VICTORY AGAINST THE ABYSSAL DEMONS AND WE WILL ALL DIE IN THE NEXT THREE DECADES OR SO."
And with those words coming out of Wang Ling's mouth he heaved a sigh of relief as everyone looked at him dumfounded.
SLASH!
BOOM!
Wang Ling looked at the sharp edges of the weapons around his neck. Everyone was beyond livid and if not for his identity as a member of the Holy Race he would have lost his head already.
Killing intent flooded Wang Ling's general direction.
But Wang Ling gave them no reaction and simply said, "Okay, I will reiterate, we are all going to die because of incompetence."
