Celestial Peak Chapter 485

The Devil Emperor was not but a simple member of the Primordial Race. No one could access the Origin World other than the All-Father and the mother of Beast. However, from right above his home, he opened a path leading to the plains ten kilometers away from the Thousand God City.
A Devil Emperor wasn't even from the lineage of the Mother of Beast, he was no master of Space, but, he was a close member of the All-Father's lineage, thus, with the help of jade runes, that was more potent than talismans, the Devil Emperor managed to open a path for him to take.
Inside the golden portal he unfurled five pairs of black wings, he flapped them and disappeared from where he was. Being a Devil Emperor in terms of physical strength only the GodKing could surpass his speed.
With a flap of his wings, he managed to cover an untold distance. In a manner of hours, he crossed distances that most of the fastest Sailers like the ones in Roan's possession could only hope to travel in a day.
The Devil Emperor appeared ten kilometers away from the City. He looked towards the direction of the city, he took a deep breath and sensed a subtle aura, he creased his brows and with a silent flap of his wings, he appeared right above the Roan's manor.
This feat of speed was done only through physical strength alone. The Devil Emperor's aura was still inside, thus the silence of the Thousand God City. Devils could move quickly enough without being noticed due to their absurd speed. This made them scary.
Retracting his five wings, the Devil Emperor and Roan met eyes.
"Where is he?" the robed man asked Roan.
Roan raised turned his eyes up, "He is inside, Kareem."
Kareen closed his eyes and just before he could pry into the entirety of the building, Roan stopped him, "Don't, at this moment the All-Father is fortifying his cultivation. On the Sixth Rank. Besides, you wouldn't be able to sense any of his power, the All-Father has yet to awaken both our lineage. He's currently only in the possession of the White Ring's Lineage."
The Kareen floated down from above and stood next to Roan who sat on the roof of his manor. Kareem's face was that of pure concern, "Roan… do you even know what you are talking about? I think cruising through the Cosmos finding redemption is—"

"Getting through me?" Roan just laughed, "Don't worry, I saw him call upon the Heavenly Flames, he created in his second coming. Have you seen those two give their flames to anyone?"
"I haven't seen them interact with anything, really. But that proves little. We don't really monitor the Heaven and Hell God Beasts."
"I heard the call of the Family Bell from him a few weeks back."
"…you should have opened with that." Kareen finally accepted Roan's words. The Family Bell, one of the two relics left behind by the All-Father. This Bell was situated at the Heavenly Realm. This Bell was once used to call upon the Origin Race.
The Family Bell, once rang would echo, its sound coming from a single person, the All-Father. The Family Bell at this time was used by the Holy Race to call upon a massive meeting once every ten thousand years or if when one of them dies. It was a Bell used to send the soul of the dead to the other side.
Currently, only the Holy Race could use the Family Bell or is more widely known today as the Bell of the Heavens. This caused many Devils to be jealous of the Holy Race, but they had their own Relic from the All-Father so they could not be greedy.
Also, the Family Bell used by the Holy Race sounded very different from when the All-Father used it — it was different from when Wang Ling activated it."
"How was the sound? Was it the same as when we lived in the Village? Who is the All-Father? Did he awaken from slumber like the mother of Beasts, or did he incarnate again?" Kareem asked, his eyes glimmering with expectations. He wanted Roan to tell him everything, about the Family Bell, about the All-Father.
"Don't ask too quickly, I'll tell you everything about the situation. So, this what happened—" Roan's words flowed as he recounted how he first encountered Wang Ling and how he thought only thought it was only an ascension of a Holy Race member.
"It thought it was a Three White Rings creating a fourth ring. I felt only the burst of holy qi spreading all over the world, and followed it back expecting to find a spectacle—

"He is the same incarnation, the one they called Ancestor, which, now that I think about it is fitting—
"I heard that the Family Bell also rang at the place where the Revenant first appeared. At the Silver Blade World, where I thought the ascension was happening? According to the Deities, the All-Father also used the Family Bell there. But I couldn't hear because they were in a different dimension—
"The sound is the same, a little weak because as it could not pierce the Celestial Spirit Realm, but I assure you, it is the same sound… it was nostalgic, to say the least." Roan touched his heart, "It… moved me… it made me want to go back… it made me shed tears."
"…you're lucky then. For you to regain some semblance of emotions. I supposed that is the reason why you are finally retrieving your weapon?"
"Yes, I am prepared to go there and meet them…"
"That so." Kareem brought out a single spatial ring and threw it at Roan, "That contains your beloved knives. It hasn't been drenched in blood since you left it with me but, it is still sharp, do not worry."
"I'll sharpen it on the way to them," Roan said, laughing.
"Wait, you're going to go now?"
"Better do it quickly before I waver. I don't want to be a hindrance to the All-Father, I would rather do something about my own problems before anything else. Also, thanks for coming here so quickly, Kareem."
Kareem, the right-hand man of the Devil God smiled hearing those words, could not help but hesitate. He wanted to say something, but couldn't, in the end, Kareem just stood there, letting out a dry laugh, "I thought you were a Devil King? How could you talk to an Emperor like that?" he joked.
Roan just shook his friend as he too smiled, "You are always good at ruining the mood." Roan then kept the ring away.
Roan went silent and then he floated from the roof of the manor, "Kareem, can I ask you for another favor?"
"What is it?"
"Please take my place as the Guardian of the All-Father while I'm gone. Also, you better not tell anyone about this… I only told you about the situation because I need my rings. Not even the GodKing could know."
"Wait, are you putting me in a binding vow without even spilling blood?"
"I am!" Roan left, leaving only the words, "There is good wine in the basement, talk to the Deities if you need anything!"
Roan left with an upbeat attitude despite his earlier seriousness.
"Wait! Deities!?" Kareem shouted but no one answered back.
"He meant us."
"AH!" Kareem creased his brows seeing two identical twins standing by his side without him noticing, "…are the two of you a Black Turtle?"
Yuan Qing and Yuan Ming nodded.
"I am Yuan Qing."
"I am Yuan Ming."
The twins bowed to Kareem ever so slightly, "I reckon you are the Devil Emperor Kareem?"
"That I am."
The twins turned to the horizon where Kareem disappeared into, "So, we reckon Roan was a Devil Emperor?"
The twins were bewildered, "We don't remember a Devil Emperor of that name. Was another born without our knowledge? Was there a remnant Down Feather?"
"No, he's the Devil Emperor Naor, the Drunken Emperor."
The twins looked at each other and hit their foreheads, "That was so dumb we didn't even think it was him." They could not believe they did not see through such a thing.
Kareem smiled, "Hmm, so it really was so stupid that it's smart. Well, he did get me used to that name after some decades."
The twins at the end just sighed, "So, where is he going then?" The twins asked, curious.
"To meet his wife and daughter."
The twins creased their brows, "…didn't his wife and daughter…"
"Died from the hands of the Abyssal Demons? That's right."
"Then, if he's going to mee them, that means."
"He's meeting them, because "they are dead"…"
The twins and Kareem were silent.

Wretched Brood
I knew I was different from the beginning. I wanted nothing to do with those simpletons that valued only food, drink, and women. So I distanced myself from my brood, not considering myself a goblin. I even tried to become one of the humans, befriending some in the process. I thought that I’d live a relatively happy life as a “human” adventurer, albeit behind a wooden mask. World Wonderer
Mari was happily whisking up some butterscotch slice when our story suddenly whisks her into another world. You'd think it'd be the beginning of another classic Isekai adventure, but it soon becomes clear that things won't be so easy...Her nerdy-teenage-genius summoner has trapped her in his room, no one speaks English, and Mari's gut is NOT prepared for a whole new world of bacteria. Can Mari overcome the travel diarrhea, learn a whole new language and escape before she develops Stockholm syndrome? Most of all, can she learn to flourish in a world so different, yet so similar to her own? ****** Author note: This story is written in response to all the unrealistic, plot-armour Isekais out there. I believe that adventures are more fun when there are unexpected surprises and challenges to be had. That said, this is my virgin voyage into writing an ongoing fiction, so please take care of me @[email protected] Constructive critisms, suggestions and typos in the comments would be most appreciated! Respectfully, Mhm

Parental Controls
Reeve Williams always felt more at home in vivid virtual reality than in drab real reality, partly as an escape from the very real embarrassment of her technically inept parents, Walter and Wanda. When Reeve’s parents give her a new total-immersion virtual reality system for her birthday, Reeve reluctantly agrees to show them what it’s like…just for a few minutes. But a mistake only her technophobe father would make leaves Reeve facing the prospect of spending months in the greatly accelerated, fantastically complex, brutally unforgiving game world. With her parents. Posts will be every M/W/F. If I ever decide to try to turn Parental Controls into an ebook, I won't do so in such a way that I'd need to take down what I've posted to Royal Road.
