Celestial Peak Chapter 427

"You're a devil? I didn't think anyone as strong as your Race would come here." Wang Ling didn't really mind the bald captain devil. His words were rather harsh, but his tone was calm and collected. He didn't sense any killing intent, so he didn't respond with his own.
"Come on, don't talk like that, you're from the Holy Race and you're in this dump as well, right? Why just because I am a Devil I cannot go to the lower worlds?"
"Huh? No, that is not what I—"
"Haha, look at you acting so jittery about this kind of interaction young White Ring."
"White Ring? Wh-what does that even mean." For the first time in a long time, Wang Ling was not on the receiving end of confusing someone. He was left flabbergasted, the terminologies, the stories he should be knowing as a part of the Holy Race, all of it was unbeknownst to him thus leaving him clueless.
'Angel, you've been out for a long time, do you have a clue what he's talking about?' Wang Ling called for Angel for help, who appeared on his shoulder as a one-foot girl in one piece.
"I've only been searching Father since I came out, I know nothing about all of these. Besides, you should feel shame for asking a17,000 years old child, I am still young you know, I haven't even received proper education from you, hmph." Angel harrumphed for inexplicable reasons.
'You are confusing me further, Angel. What do you want?' Wang Ling wanted to distract himself for a good few seconds.
"I want to be taught about the world. I don't know a lot so I want you to teach me. How about teaching me how to wield a sword? Or about cultivation?" The manifestation of Holy Qi just asked for cultivation… Wang Ling could just imagine.

"Hey, are you okay? Why are you spacing out like that?" the bald captain devil snapped his fingers multiple times to take Wang Ling's attention.
Wang Ling snapped back to reality and as he did, he looked at the Bald Captain Devil and just said, "I apologize, it is just that I have no inkling as to what kind of person I am… I do not know what kind of being this White Rings you speak of, or anything regarding about the war or Devil. I lost my memories a couple of years ago. I do not even know what I am… can you please tell me how you realized the White Ring you speak of?"
He lied as easily as he breathed. He didn't even hesitate to do so and just thought that this would be the easiest way to get out of a situation such as this, [Play the amnesiac card, they won't be the any wiser.]
Other than Bai Xue, he rarely ever trusts those who claim amnesia because of his own doing. The Captain Devil sat next to Wang Ling, he was at a loss for words and just looked around the dark surrounding, "Um… sorry to hear that young one. I felt the Holy Qi surrounding you. Don't worry about it, I should have known that something was wrong when I sensed your qi was seeping out of your body. For a member of the Holy Race that would have been too much of a tell that something was wrong."
The Bald Captain Devil sighed even longer this time around and placed his hands on Wang Ling's shoulders, "Don't worry young White Ring, I'll try and tell you what you need to know to the best of my abilities."
And just like that, Wang Ling made an albeit unconventional friend. The Bald Captain Devil's name was actually Roan, a devil from the Hell World. He came to the very edge of the Universe to escape the fights between the Abyssal Demons and Devils, and to further avoid the conflict of the Holy Race and the Devils.

"You are lucky, young White Ring, for you do not have any connection to the War between our Races. To not have any hate holding against the other race, that must be a nice feeling to have." Roan laughed as he brought out alcohol. Roan offered some to Wang Ling but was refused as the other brought out his own brew.
Wang Ling drank by slightly lifting up his mask. He didn't want to show his face as the notoriety of the "Impostors" increases by the day.
Wang Ling, who had been listening to Roan asked, "What do you mean Hate? Did you not say that the Two Races stopped fighting a long time ago? Why are they still killing each other? That had been so long ago, so long in fact that it preceded Eras."
"Well, what can I say? If your Races is Immortal and Undying through time, then you cannot hold anything other than hate in your heart just to give yourself meaning. A lot of the Black Wings (Devils) and White Rings (Holy Race) Elders still pass down the hate to the children, and as the youths take thousands of years to mature, they grow up listening to such things. Then from this, hate blossoms thus my earlier words."
Wang Ling learned a lot from their exchange. The Devils and Holy Races or as they were called by the "Natives" to shred their previous shell, the Black Wings and White Rings claim were untouched by time.
The First Creations were born when the Univeter was still settling down. Time intertwined with its existence making them insusceptible to aging. By the time they reach 30,000 years old, they turn Immortal with an everlasting lifespan. To human or ordinary time, 1000 years to them is a 1 year to the rest.
The First and Second Deities were also born like this. Though because of this very reason, the numbers of the two Races and the Deities numbered so little, but their strength was incredible, especially when they train themselves.
Wang Ling just sat there, listening to Roan mumbled on, learning about the culture and slang they use.
Most of it was only jabber unrelated to what he wished to know, but Wang Ling needed to act impress for the heck of it. After a few hours of talking, Roan seemed to have taken a liking to Wang Ling and offered him a drink of the alcohol he had with him.
Wang Ling, of course, could not refuse and with a single cup… he immediately grew intoxicated and muddled his mind. The two of them continued drinking for six hours straight until it was time for Roan to man the Sailer.
What kind of life would it be to live for thousands of years in the middle of puberty, or how long it would take for the minds of the Two Primordial Races to mature?
Wang Ling's mind was muddled but he asked himself an important question, [What would it be like if I had a child?]
WAng Ling remained silent at such a ridiculous thought. He looked at the distant stars, his mind mired in complex emotions.

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
