Celestial Peak Chapter 419

Wang Ling's body slowly regained its strength, his bones snapped back in place and by the time the fire died down, he regained the ability to walk. With an arm missing still severed, the other broken, an eye that had lost its sight, and blood dyed clothes, Wang Ling began walking as though he's in no pain.
By his side was the Sword God Chang Ping, holding onto the severed arm. Chang Ping was calm, as if she had not done anything to Wang Ling. The years of seeing such a sight had numbed her, and knowing that Wang Ling had ways to heal his wounds, she wasn't all that worried. The both of them were eerily calm, even holding casual conversation to past the time.
"When I was going around the Celestial Spirit Realm, I wore a mask to hide my identity so that Master would not know what I was doing. I used your Sword Intent to guide my techniques and become as ruthless in my attacks as much as possible."
"Wait, thinking back to it, I once heard about someone called Masked Sword challenging Sword Sects one after the other… is that by chance."
"That was me, Master. I was trying to prove that your way of fighting was the strongest, a powerful slash that's unyielding and without fear, a blade that's without equal in terms of slaughter, that was what I wanted to prove. If you are wondering, I managed to succeed on my endeavor without much of a problem after learning techniques from the past."
The both of them talked as they walk and as they did so, the more Wang Ling learned a lot of things, like how Chang Ping was the honorary leader of the Heaven Hell Sword Tower. Though the Wang Family established the Heaven Hell Sword Tower, Chang Ping went and challenged the previous leader in order to prove her strength, she bested him in a dule, she inadvertently became the leader, and the rest was history.

Thinking back to it, Wang Ling began connecting some dots of the past. The Masked Sword, the current attire of the Heaven Hell Sword Tower… and then, he laughed, "So the Tower you are leading are wearing a mask because of you?"
"Yes, though I would love to have them stop as it reminds me of my juvenile past, I still have a habit of wearing a mask so I just gave up. Though the Mask doesn't serve any meaning, it at least helps in hiding our identities and have become a symbol of humility."
According to the common people the Heaven Hell Sword Tower wears masks to not let others know of their identity. It was a show of humility and a way to tell the world that they were leaving their identity behind.
Legends suggested that it was the Sword God whose identity remained a secret who started such a tradition. Because of this, the Sword God became an extremely respected figure.
[I wonder, what the others would think if they know her reason for wearing that mask was so that she could hide from me?] after telling Chang Ping not to show herself to Wang Ling, the lass at the time went on a journey to gain some fame so she could be forgiven if she were to seek him out and demand lessons.
It was an extremely embarrassing past for the illustrious Sword God, "Well, in the end I didn't get the lesson I sought after."
"Oh yeah, I never really got to teach you anything, right? Considering what I did, I only treated you with harshness like irritation and not once acted as a proper student to you." Wang Ling paused as he looked at Chang Ping, "You achieved what you have now thanks to your own hard work, I have no right to be called Master."
Chang Ping only chortled at his words, "I wouldn't claim that I learned everything of it on my own. I am where I am because you gave me a chance when you could have easily ignored me and thrown me to the side. You handed me the treasure of your Sword Intent that allowed me to grow. When I was alone and without any road to take, a single stone at led me to where I am now — it's truly funny how one event can change one's course of being… so no matter how Master sees it, I would refer to you as such."

Chang Ping brought out a single stone that. It was tied with glowing black ropes and could be worn as a necklace. Wang Ling looked at the stone and then nodded his head, "Well, I guess I just have to teach you some of my techniques… oh yeah, you said you based your Celestial Crimson Blade on my intent, correct? Then, I'll show you the technique built around that intent. It should at least prove useful in you further perfecting your craft."
"I would love that, Master." Chang Ping said with a smile.
The two of them didn't stop and by the time they reached the edge of the Forest, it was already sunrise. The two of them, at this time stopped as from afar they saw a gathering of children and some adults approaching the Forest, "They just couldn't help themselves."
"It's the Sect Master!" A resounding voice echoed as the group of disciples' faces beamed seeing that Wang Ling had survived his fight. But of course, they hesitated and found it awkward approaching him seeing that he was missing his left arm.
No one wanted for Wang Ling to get hurt thus they stopped dead on their tracks, but with their halt came the bursting questions they had within them. Their worries fueled their questions ever so brightly and as Wang Ling looked to the side, he saw Alidia and the adults, watching him with soft smiles as if to say, "how nice."
The disciples of his Sect were once orphans and seeing their savior treated in this manner made them extremely saddened. This lasted for quite awhile until their attention towards him was replaced by another.
"Everyone, that is enough, the Master is tired therefore the question should stop by now. The Elders of the Sect would make a report later so do not worry." Simple words uttered with a quiet commanding tone.
Chang Ping stepped up for Wang Ling and as she did so, the students looked at her with their mouth agape. Even the adults where no better.
Those fierce eyes, perfect skin, mouth, and beautiful black hair, all of it made them unable to say anything… she was too beautiful to be human. She was like an ethereal Fairy that had descended from her realm.
Even the light cuts on her body somehow only alleviated her beauty.
Everyone was mesmerized, even the females.
Seeing this Wang Ling smiled, thinking, [They are still children, I guess.]
'Keep them occupied for me, I am going to return to the Sect.' Wang Ling quietly said as he slipped away next to Alidia, who he had to flick her forehead to get some attention, "You have any useful pill there?"
Wang Ling asked an Alidia brought out one she had prepared already. As Wang Ling popped it inside his mouth and circulated its essence in his body, he heard Alidia ask, "Great Ancestor, who is she? Is she a secret lover? The one who helped you in your fight?"
Wang Ling gave Alidia a bewildered look before speaking with a voice only they could hear as he walked away, "She's my disciple, also the Sword God."
"Oh, a disciple… wait, the Sword God!?"
Wang Ling didn't answer as he simply walked away with a yawn. He really wanted to rest for the time being, [I'll reattach the arm and fix my eye later.]

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)

City of Champions Online

She's tried other VRMMORPGs, but they've all been fantasy-based, with a couple sci-fi games thrown in. But she wants something more, something Super. For the first time, a developer partnered with a tabletop RPG maker to use their system to create a VRMMORPG, and it was one of the systems designed to be used with superhero games!
