The Gray Figure tried stopping the inevitable, but he could do nothing as Wang Ling opened the door. Upon opening, what he saw was Fjord smiling widely like always, "Brother Wang Ling, you finally opened the door!"

"Only because it was too noisy. Brother Fjord, are you not bored doing this routine every morning? You come and go like this every single day, are you not bored or are you not going to make preparation for the upcoming Heavenly Dragon Selection?"

"Nope, I have been itching to fight and if I prepare now I may lose track of time and seclude myself for months. Conversing with Brother Wang Ling is enjoyable anyway, besides, I have some good information today!"

This had been happening for one and a half month, Fjord would come to have a conversation with Wang Ling like buddies that had not seen each other for years. At first Wang Ling thought he would get tired of it eventually but as time went on the more Fjord stayed in his room.

At one point, the conversation they had lasted for two days and three nights without interruption. If not for Wang Ling's incessant demand of wanting to make 'preparations' he doubted that Fjord would leave him alone.

But he didn't chase him away, because he wanted to make a good connection with Fjord and would give out some good information regarding this world from time to time. Because of Wang Ling's current identity, he can ask some oblivious questions without getting suspicions from Fjord.

Taking out a tablet from his storage ring a black = parchment made from the hide of a beast appeared on top of Fjord's right hand. The parchment was emanating an archaic feel to it making Wang Ling rather intimidated.

The Gray Figure upon seeing the parchment shut its mouth and observed the changes that suddenly occurred in the atmosphere, "Boy, that's a genuine skin of a fifth-generation Deity Beasts, I can't tell for sure but that may be the hide of a Black Poison Fanged Serpent, of the Black Turtle lineage."

Wang Ling had been with the Gray Figure for quite some time now; and despite the gaps on its knowledge with Chaos and its own origin, if it spouts something with confidence then it is most likely true. And it had bragged about it having witnessed the advent of the different generations of the Four Deity Beasts.

The Gray Figure refers to its own knowledge as the Compendium of the Sacred Deities and it had once said that the Four Deities had spread its line generation after generation and even interbred with other Beasts — that's why there is a beast that has some Dragon Blood or Phoenix Blood in them despite being a part of the Four Deities lineage or even beings who has no connection to the Deities.

The Gray Figure said that the original Four Deities are one of the strongest beings in the whole Universe, and the seven generations of descendants of the Four Deities are beings that hold power that can rival that of the Holy Race and the Devil Race.

Wang Ling did not know the extent of the power they held, but from what the Gray Figure said, the seven generation Deities are beings that hold extreme powers even in their death. Thus, explaining the aura that is emanating from the parchment.

Fjord saw the surprised expression of Wang Ling and then let out a jolly laugh, "Hehe, I knew showing this to you will be interesting. Do you know what this is, Brother Wang Ling?"

"That's a fifth-generation Deity hide isn't it?"

Surprised, Fjord nodded his head, "Aw, I had a long explanation that comes with this too, dammit. Well, that's enough; correct, this is the hide of a fifth-generation Deity, but that alone is not what makes this special. This is not some normal parchment, it's an invitation to the Black Dragon's Final Battlefield and I can take two people with me in that place!"

With his eyes widened, Wang Ling asked, "What's that? The Black Dragon's Final Battlefield? Never heard of that place!" he asked candidly without showing a hint of embarrassment. He had heard of the Black Dragon's Final Battlefield, but he does not know what kind of place that is.

If the invitation had some significance to it, the invitation-only makes it more interesting to the point of speechlessness. And according to the Gray Figure, the Black Dragon is a fifth-generation descendant of the Azure Dragon.

Fjord looked at him in shock but once again regained himself after some time, "Sigh, just to what extent have your master deprived you of the world's knowledge? Simply put, the Black Dragon's Final Battlefield is the training grounds of Immortals that is below the age of 300. The numerous Sects, Clans, and Tribes get assessed to train.

"As you may know, the Thousand Sword Sage Province and the Heavenly Dragon Empire are the two world's strongest forces. But despite this being a fact, there are still forces that are outside the reach of the two and is a force to be reckoned with and these forces have geniuses that send their geniuses to the Black Dragon's Final battlefield so they can train and find treasures inside. That place also has many ruins coming from the distant past so many opportunities await. Those who can stand on top of that place become geniuses that can enter the Middle Heaven in full glory!"

Wang Ling listened to the words of Fjords and got the gist of it without much trouble. The Black Dragon's Final Battlefield is a ruin sight where geniuses fight for domination, [That's a good place to look into. If even the people of the Lower Heaven sends their geniuses there the chance of finding resources becomes higher and my breakthrough becoming easier.]

Fjord then remembered something and said, "Oh yeah, the Black Dragon's blood and soul is said to still remain in that place. They say if one can pass the Black Dragon's Trial they will get the legacy of the Black Dragon."

[Blood and Soul!? That might just be where Bai Xue is heading if she hears of it. Well, after this Heavenly Dragon Selection I'll spend a few months in here and head there. But the invitation…]

Wang Ling turned to Fjord's invitation and stared at it for a good while. Fjord smiled slyly and said, "Hehehe, I knew you will be interested. I actually came here for the Heavenly Dragon Selection as a detour, how about it, do you wish to come with me in that place? You only have to do two things for me."

Wang Ling hesitated, he does not know what he wants so he was hesitant, in the end, he decided to question what Fjord's intentions is.

"Depends on your request."

"I like your straightforwardness, but it's not really that hard. In twenty years, I want you to be my companion and reach the top of the Heavenly Dragon Selection or even the just the second rank, and after that, I want you to also reach at least the top five of the names of the Black Dragon's Final Battlefield."

Showing a shocked expression, Wang Ling laughed and then Fjord did the same. Those words of his and the invitation to the battlefield finally connected the dots that made Wang Ling understand who Fjord truly is, "Answer me, Brother Fjord, are you a part an Aristocrat?"

Fjord slyly smiled at his words, "I am and not at the same; I need geniuses like you to elevate my name in my Family. Though I said that I only want to be friends with someone I deem worthy, you are a warrior and I am a warrior, so what do you say?"

A smile emerged on Wang Ling's face with such an offer on one answer is necessary to be said, and with great confidence, he spoke, "No, I don't want to. I'll get my own invitation."

"Why didn't you accept his offer?" The Gray Figure asked as Wang Ling observed the joyous movement of the still-unnamed black lion. The Black Lion pounced at Suzhen with a large smile on its face and Suzhen slapped its face in irritation and send it flying.

Wang Ling watched this sight and then shook his head, "I can't accept that I want to make connections but if he's an aristocrat then I'll just end up being dragged into the whole mess that he is trying to prepare for."

"How are you going to get your invitation then? Also, how about that connection you are talking about?"

Wang Ling laughed, "Don't worry about the invitation, I just need to have good results with this Selection and I will be able to get one, though it may sound rather stupid as it is just my assumptions. But this is one of the most important competitions in the Lower Heaven so it is natural that those Emissaries will be present… the importance of this selection just increased — as for that connection wait for it."

Right after Wang Ling's words had been uttered, banging sounds was heard on the door, what followed those was the loud voice calling for Wang Ling, "Brother Wang Ling, it is the time! Let us hurry out!"

"See, that guy is like glue. He's going to do everything to get what he wants, and he will not leave me no matter what I do in short, that guy is too thick-skinned to leave even after I explicitly turned him down."
