Celestial Peak Chapter 285

Xiao Fei'er was momentarily stunned upon seeing an army of Celestials appearing out of nowhere. There were also three genuine Immortals present making his expression even uglier. But what his expression even uglier was the presence of Wang Ling.
A six-winged devil and the thickness of his bloodline was apparent even from a hundred kilometers away. Inside the array, he can tell the augmentation from the array is much more potent and visible to him.
[It can't be, another Devil King!? I thought brother was the only Devil King in the realm?] He cannot believe it and what's more, is that Wang Ling's identity is not just a normal Devil, he was the Son of Heaven, the epitome of the Holy Path how can he be a Devil?
But such a question does not matter, the only thing that does matter is the fact that his presence had brought upon a large variable to the plan of the Xie Clan. Gritting his teeth, he screamed out loud, "XIE CLAN, DEFEND THE MOUNTAIN PEAK!!!"
Members of the Xie Clan that remained in the vicinity appeared. They were a behemoth of a Clan. Even without an abundant number of Immortals, the number of Celestials they have nurtured was enough to meet with the Shadows brought by the Wang's Spearhead.
But as he shouted out loud, his focus was split and so did the focus of the Celestials (Immortals) around him. They did not notice that a lightning had already appeared before them and with a smirked Lu Tao grabbed the two Celestials (Immortals) pinning Xiao Fei'er down and pummeled them on the face with his fist accompanied by lightning and thunder.
When Xie Wu noticed what was happening, everything was too late. Lu Tao had already made his move and killed two of the unsuspecting Celestials (Immortals). He killed them with ease and managed to take away Xiao Fei'er.
When he saw the cut on Xiao Fei'er's body, he frowned. He was just about to feed her some pill when a hand stopped him. It was Wang Ling, he kneeled down and brought out a vial from his storage ring.
The vial contained his Holy Lord Blood Essence making it a potent healing medicine. Wang Ling only has three of these and he can only extract a drop of it every year or else he will suffer from the backlash.
Giving it to his Immortal Mother might seem useless because her injuries would heal naturally later on, but considering the situation, she needs to be healed in order for her to move and rejoin the fight.
"Ling'er, thank you." After thanking her son, Xiao Fei'er turned to Xie Ro and Wang Ling followed her line of sight. He looked at the Mountain Peak and saw the chained up Wang Yue, his anger once again rose by another notch.

Who was that chained like an animal? That was his little sister, and one of the people he vowed to protect.
Wang Ling was angry, and his anger had led to him devouring each and every piece of soul and treasure he had inside his storage ring. His early Celestial King cultivation had already reached Celestial Emperor Stage.
However, it still keeps on increasing. For some odd reason, his bloodlines are devouring his Human Blood Essence and is taking it in as nutrients for him to grow stronger. Adding to that the treasures, Wang Ling was improving like crazy. The Dark Stone City was far from where Wang Ling was, but he had Butler Sun pick him up along the way so he managed to swiftly get there.
If not for the fact that he had already created the Cosmic Veins and Meridians, he would have imploded hours ago. Butler Sun had already joined the fray and as hundreds of Shadows fought with the people of the Xie Clan people, Wang Ling resolved himself to kill his way up to that Mountain Peak.
"Mother, is that Lower Devil who took my sister?" Lower Devils, the term Wang Ling refers to Devils who have less pure bloodline. As he stared at Xie Ro, he categorized him as a Lower Devil King. As for his cultivation, he cannot exactly tell.
Xiao Fei'er nodded her head and spoke as she stood up slowly, "That is Xie Ro, I do not know how but he now controls the bloodlines of Devils. We have some history against him and I think that is why he took your sister."
"I do not think that is true…" Wang Ling stared at the black stone and shook his head in denial. He saw the stone as odd. The Yin qi that surrounded the stone was immense, but for some reason, only he can sense it, "He must have some plans. Mother, can you move?"
"I can, Ling'er… where are you going with those, LING'ER!" Xiao Fei'er shouted out loud in anger as Wang Ling activated his bloodlines, both True Devil and Holy Lord and had his killing intent become rampant.
In front of Wang Ling were three Devil Cultivators who were nearing Immortal Stage, but with one swift motion, he beheaded and mutilated them. There were hundreds of Devil Cultivators present, but Wang Ling saw them as useless people.
He moved in for the most efficient of kills and mere manner of seconds, he killed dozens of Celestials with both swords. His killing intent was soaring and everyone that saw him wanted to throw up. The density it carried made them smell blood with just his presence alone.
He was too strong, too eye-catching that the Celestials (Immortals) had to make their move in order for his advances to be stopped. Two Celestials (Immortals) kicked the ground and went to try and stop Wang Ling.

Wang Lings saw them and creased his brows, saying, "Move, bastards." Wang Ling roared and brandished his sword while whispering, "200,000 swords!" Boom! An explosive swing erupted that blew away the Celestials (Immortals).
Blowing such people away was enough to make everyone look at Wang Ling with fear, and as Wang Ling stared at them he said with a course voice filled with anger and irritation, "Don't get in my way!"
Once again, his speed accelerated. He was fast and his speed had already matched that of a Celestial (Immortal). He was too fast, too strong, and too dangerous. His killing intent kept on increasing and soon enough, Xie Wu had to make a move against Wang Ling.
Xie Wu jumped into the fray and tried getting to Wang Ling. He raised his saber and was just about to take out Wang Ling when a purple arrow flew to him and was forced to guard against it. Xie Wu was blown away and a bolt of lightning passed Wang Ling and with a hearty laugh, Lu Tao appeared before Xie Wu, "I will be your opponent!"
Xie Wu and Lu Tao was engaged in a fight.
"Ling'er, do not move alone, although your qi had been increased because of the array, against many Celestials (Immortals) you will be in trouble."
"Yes, Mother."
"With that said, let us hurry over to the peak, we need to save Yue quicker."
Wang Ling nodded his head and then flew into the air straight to the Mountain Peak with Xiao Fei'er. Xie Ro saw this and creased his brows in irritation.
"How long before midnight?" Xie Ro asked Xie Yi (one).
"A few more minutes, Master." Xie Yi, answered.
Xie Ro watched as chaos ran rampant in the city of Dark Stone. He looked at the Moon and smiled, he can't move away from the Mountain Peak now, and seeing Xiao Fei'er and Wang Ling speeding towards him, he just can't help feel a little irritated.
"Xie Yi, go and deal with Xiao Fei'er with your bloodline and the augmentation, you should be able to hold her back until midnight. Take Xie Si with you."
"Yes, Master." Xie Yi accepted the mission he was given and went to meet Xiao Fei'er with Xie Si. Xie Yi activated his bloodline and sprouted two pairs of wings, and Xie Si sprouted one pair.
They flew out and attacked Xiao Fei'er. Their qi had already reached an unprecedented level and was even stronger than the Celestials (Immortals) earlier. Their combined forces managed to pin Xiao Fei'er back.
"Xie Er (two), go meet that devil. Can you kill that one?" Xie Ro asked.
"Easily done, master." Xie Er said with certainty. He unfolded his wings and went out with the intent to kill Wang Ling in a single hit.
Xie Er sped away towards Wang Ling and then drew his sword out, he announced, "This is as far as you would go, now Di…"
Slash!
"Get out of way!" Wang Ling did not let him finish his words and split Xie Er's body in two in a heartbeat. Wang Ling's qi capacity increased once more.
Wang Ling did not even look at him and he killed him just like that. Xie Ro saw this and was surprised, [I can't get distracted by him, I need to kill him!]
Xie Ro was surprised to see Xie Er get killed. Xie Er was his stronger disciple, he knew of his capabilities that is why he was so surprised. Xie Ro brought out his Sword and then gathered his qi. Flames erupted out of his body and he had it congregate towards his sword, "[Hell Fire Sword]!" He swung his blade and intended to kill Wang Ling with a single slash.
A wave of flame flew towards Wang Ling, it was too big and too fast for him to avoid. He crossed his swords and stood his ground and got ready to meet the flames, Boom!. He was eaten and blasted away by the flames.
"Ling'er!" Xiao Fei'er shouted out in worry.
Xie Ro scoffed at this sight and noticed the moon was now at is highest and Devil Blood Seal Stone is now radiating Yin at its highest point. Xie Ro noticed this and brought out a short dagger out of his bosom.
He then chanted, "With the blood of the Holy Race as the key, open the path to the True Castle of the Flame Devil King!!!"
As he chanted the Yin on the stone rose at its peak, but with the rise of the Yin Qi, the rise of Wang Ling's killing intent followed. Wang Ling survived and his qi was even stronger than before, his anxiety was also stronger and as he kicked the ground and flapped his wings, he gathered his strength to his sword and in mere seconds, he was right behind Xie Ro, "DIE!!!!"
Wang Ling shouted out loud as he went for the head of Xie Ro. He does not know what Xie Ro wants, but this should distract him from what he plans to do.
But as a sword met with Wang Ling's, an expression borne of grief surfaced on the face of the Blood Seeking Celestial as he got a full and close-up view of Xie Ro plunging the dagger on the chest of Wang Yue.
Wang Yue stared at Wang Ling's eyes as she uttered the words, "Bro.. ther…"
Inside Wang Ling's heart and mind, something finally snapped.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
