Wang Ling saw the light vanished and he was already inside the Thundergod Academy. The dense qi around them was something that Wang Ling was all too familiar with. He had already registered the difference in terms of the quality of qi and now that he was aware of it, the qi of the Thundergod Academy was laced with lightning.

He perfectly went over and left the place of the spatial transportation array. After doing so, he wandered the Thundergod Academy as if it was normal.

Not needing to contact anyone was bliss. He did not have any connections inside the academy, Except that is for Zou Jianhong he had met outside. Also, the elf who was from the Evergreen Clan.

He was not really that aware of the academy's layouts so he did not know where he should look. So, before leaving, he went out of his way and asked the students near him the place where he could find the place to exchange points.

"Oh, you must be quite new to not know where it is. Just head north and find the [Thunder Treasury]. That is where the points of the academy is exchanged…"

Wang Ling asked the student a couple more questions. He showed his thanks to the student but before he could leave, he heard some of the students talking about something intriguing.

"The [Ascending Lightning] is starting. We from the outer circle finally has the chance to enter the inner circle even if it's for a little while. Hahaha, this time I'm going to make a killing in the betting."

"Do you think someone will gain a new ranking? The [Jade Board] and the [Roaring Thunder Board] might just change this time!"

These students were enthusiastic enough that their eyes were practically burning. Wang Ling pointed over to the two and looked at the student he had asked previously before asking something new.

"What is that about? Ascending Lightning? Jade Board? Roaring Thunder Board? What is that?"

The student looked at Wang Ling with a stupefied look on his face, he could not believe the man in front of him does not know what these important events and boards were.

"Do you even know anything? Even the people outside the academy knows what those two boards were and what the Ascending Lightning is. Are you even a student at the academy!?" The student doubtfully asked.

Wang Ling responded by showing his identity plaque to the student. The student sighed at the sight of the plaque. He looked at Wang Ling with pity in his eyes.

He pitied Wang Ling for being stupid. He decided to explain the whole thing to Wang Ling.

"The Ascending Lightning is one of the events that happens every end of the month. Every month, the top 100 to 50 of each respective boards will compete to see who had improved the most. Though only a few [Rankers] attends it, it is still rather popular.

"The boards I am talking about is the two boards or also known as [leaderboards] that ranks the students through their combat ability. The Jade Board is the leaderboard for the students of the Nascent Soul Stage.

"As for the Roaring Thunder Board, it is made for Saint Phase Students. Even though Saint Phase students also composes of Minor Saints and Grand Saints, only the True Saints have the ability to compete for the top.

"What's more is that only the best of the True Saints truly enters the top. Peak-True Saints are the only ones who have the ability to enter it. Not to mention this True Saints are geniuses who can jump levels and challenge Dominion Realm cultivators, the Roaring Thunder Board is the place where the cream of the crop students could be found."

Wang Ling finally understood and as he finally did, he realized something.

[It was the end of the 5th month?] There was bits of the geniuses but he was more shocked at the fact that the month was already about to end. If it was about to end and the 6th month was about to come, he should've have waited for the blooming of trees in the Red Peak Mountain.

Even if he 'borrows' some points from Bai Xue, he still has not enough points to buy the dam journal. So, Wang Ling gave up the idea of buying that thing. Instead, something intrigued him.

With the said information, Wang Ling's face beamed and he took out his plaque. This made the student look at him in confusion as he tried confirming some things with Wang Ling, "Brother, it only works on saints… wait, purple gold? Grand Saint Stage?"

Wang Ling circulated his qi into the plaque and the plaque changed colors and transformed into a purple gold color and it would seem that base on the reaction of the student.

He figured there was much more into the colors of the plaques. But he did not need to know any of that any longer, so, he said his farewells to the student and also thanked him for the help.

As he left, he checked the information that was updated in his plaque. Information flowed inside his mind. His mind was filled with information he did not bother with the student who was left with his mouth agape as he actually got to speak with an inner circle disciple.

Wang Ling continued with the whole thing and gathered most of the information he needed. The current people of the boards are called rankers and these rankers are ranked differently in grades.

This grading system is the same for the Jade and Roaring Thunder Boards. The grades were from 100 to 51 Grade-D rankers, 50 to 21 are Grade-C, and 20 to 4 is Grade-B, and the 3 to 1 is Grade A.

This grading system is the only one of its kind in the whole realm. This grading system is a clear distinction between their abilities. Also, as the grades go up, the perks they receive inside the academy goes up.

On a side note, the Grade-A geniuses would be the ones to represent the academy in the [Ten Year Bout] of the Seven Great Academies.
