Celestial Peak Chapter 79

"Senior!"
The two swordsmen moved and wanted to approach Senior Sister Yan, but two figures suddenly appeared. The two came from two different direction and they were both flying into the air.
One was a Phoenix while the other was a winged-human. The two swordsmen were already exhausted. They wanted to fight back but their body was already at its limits. They wanted to draw strength from their cores but they weren't able to do so,
Wang Ling moved and found his way in front of one of the swordsman. He brandished the sword that was on his hand and directly beheaded his target.
Bai Xue was even more brutal than him as she started burning her target alive without remorse. Bai Xue retracted her flames after seeing the body of her target was already scorched. Wang Ling was just about to say she needed to behead them when Bai Xue suddenly slashed out her talons and teared her target's body apart.
Wang Ling saw this and shut his demanding mouth. He then turned his head to Senio Sister Yan who was falling from above. Instructing Bai Xue to finish off the avian beast that the three were riding, Wang Ling dove down.
He moved like lightning and soon reached the falling Senior Sister Yan. Using his sword to slash horizontally, he beheaded her cleanly and her headless corpse fell from the sky. When her corpse from above, it got tangled with branches of the trees and her clothes and entrails got torn to pieces.
Wang Ling saw this and then turn his head towards the other corpses. He saw their mangled bodies and nodded his head in satisfaction. They were dead without a doubt. Now, he had nothing to worry about anymore.
While he was looking around, Bai Xue landed atop his head as she changed her form from a Phoenix into her regular white fox form.
Soon after her landing atop his head, a shower of blood appeared. Wang Ling watched as the torn apart body of the avian type beasts their three targets were riding rain down as corpses, Wang Ling felt ease.
These beasts were all spirit beasts. They had the ability to speak and learn, they also had to die. Wang Ling was not going to take any chances so he had Bai Xue kill them to ensure no witness could be made.
Bai Xue was eating a beast core she harvested from one of the beasts as she said, "You're going to carry me for the entire day. That work was quite tiring."
Wang Ling felt the need to grumble as he didn't want their roles to be reverse. However, considering he had just been helped by Bai Xue, he didn't really have the right to complain.

Wang Ling descended from the air and landed on the spot where the corpse of the Evil Death Butterfly fell on. He extracted its blood essence and kept it safe in a jade bottle he was keeping inside his storage ring.
He then tossed the beast towards Bai Xue. Which was gladly accepted by Bai Xue who had just finished munching on the beast core she had. Wang Ling kept his sword away and then remembered something really important.
"Shit, I forgot to retrieve my spear. Wait, it's not just spears. I also forgot to loot those people before letting them get mangled. I hope I'm not too late."
Although Wang Ling had just killed those peoples because they were getting on his way without their knowledge. Wang Ling still wanted to loot them. Why? Because he needed their resources.
Plundering the possession of dead people might be looked down upon but that's basically many rogue cultivators get their resources. They will kill and take the possession of his enemies.
Even if it's considered robbing the dead and was a considered a great taboo in the view of mortals. For cultivators, it's just a normal day occurrence.
While Wang Ling was moving around, he activated Ocean's Lull to widen his perception. He soon reached the place near where Senior Sister Yan's corpse fell. As he was headed there, Wang Ling caught sight of a black bow hanging from a tree.
He walked over to that tree and took the bow. Examining the bow, Wang Ling found no damage on it and was extremely delighted. It was big as an ordinary longbow and had an engraving of a devil's face near the grip.
The bow on his hand was no ordinary bow, it was called a [Spirit Hunter] or [Spirit Bow].
It does not need any arrow as it uses spirit qi to form its arrows. Wang Ling was a master of three weapons. The sword, the spear, and lastly the bow.
Pulling on the bowstring and poured in his supreme spirit qi to form an arrow. A golden arrow was formed and Wang Ling nodded his head in satisfaction.
"I need to try some archery techniques in the future."
"Are you seriously going to train in another weapon? You're already preoccupied with the sword and the spear, why the hell are you taking another weapon? A man who chases to rabbits catches none, or so they say.
"Are you an idiot? What you're doing is extremely unproductive. Tsk, don't try and start acting stupid now."
Bai Xue felt irritated after seeing Wang Ling possibly doing a very stupid mistake. She was fuming, if this old fogey he was with chooses a wrong path and becomes unproductive. Then there's a chance he might also make stupid mistakes when he goes out his way to milk out resources from the Thundergod Academy. She gets free snacks every time he milks them out so Bai Xue was rather fond of Wang Ling's craftiness.

If Wang Ling becomes stupid all of a sudden, then that craftiness might disappear with his intelligence and her free snacks would disappear. That's not something she wanted to see.
"I'm not going to train on another one, my mastery over archery is already comparable to that of a master who had train his entire lifetime. Also, I'm not training my spear, like I do in my sword. The sword is my main weapon, I strive to improve it but I'm not like that with my spear.
"I only wanted to make my body remember how I used to move with my spear so I won't be fumbling when I fight. I am gradually beginning to regain my top form in the use of the spear so I'm going to stop it after a while. As for the bow, hehe, I only need to adjust my aim and ensure my [Hunter's Soul] is as sharp as before. After that, I will only be needing to look over my techniques and relearn a couple of things to make it useable in the future."
He knew that it was bad to become a jack of all trades and a master of none, that's why he mains the sword.
But there are times where different methods must be used in order for something to be resolved. For example, although the sword can be used to deal with most enemies. When it comes to dealing with enemies with a tough armor, it is best to use the spear.
That also goes for the bow. A spear can be thrown but that's a onetime use item. A bow can be used to snipe and destroy enemies from afar without worrying for ammo. He only needs spirit qi which he was extremely abundant with to crush his enemies from afar.
Although Wang Ling mostly focuses on the improvement of his sword, he was also very proficient in his two minor weapons. After using them for various kills and adventures back when he was still a celestial. His mastery over the two weapons became comparable to other masters who uses the same weapon.
Besides, using other weapons also gives him some insights, so using them is good for many reasons. His goal was to become the strongest, and to become the strongest, he will need to fight with many kinds of enemies, it is only natural to be this prepared.
Bai Xue heaved a sigh of relief after confirming Wang Ling was not becoming stupider. She became relaxed once again and returned to eating the beast she had been given.
Wang Ling kept the bow and went towards the mangled body of Senior Sister Yan. He saw her entrail were all over the place but her hand that had her storage ring was still intact.
Taking her storage ring. Wang Ling smiled after checking out its contents. There were a quite a lot of stellar stones inside. It numbered a close three thousand. Wang Ling was happy.
There were no good weapons and pills or medicinal plants, but there was a jade token that had an engraving of a devil mask on its surface. The token did not have any other noticeable engravings like a name so he just took note of that mask engraving.
Wang Ling ransacked what she can get from her and kept everything that had value. That goes for the martial techniques she kept with her. Although he did not plan on training in it, Wang Ling could still sell it or put it in an auction.
With that he managed to take everything that had value and went to move on. He took the spear that was nearby and kept it inside his storage ring. He took one more look at Senior Sister Yan's body and frowned after realizing that his qi could linger on his body.
"Bai Xue, burn her body." Wang Ling instructed and Bai Xue didn't even argue with him and just flicked her tail to send over a flame over her corpse and set her ablaze. Wang Ling smiled after seeing her turn to ashes.
Moving along, Wang Ling went to find the other two bodies so he can collect their valuables before burning them to ashes. He didn't want to let anyone trace anything back to him so he did his best to cover his actions by burning their bodies.
Wang Ling managed to get quite a harvest. He was happy but at the same time he felt a foreboding feeling from the depths of his heart. He was feeling uneasy as he felt that something was going on inside this mountain.
With the appearance of other cultivators and the comment of the Devil Horn Buffalo had said. Although those devil cultivators might just be the people it was talking about. There was also a chance that they weren't.
Wang Ling chose to tread this place even more carefully from now on onwards.

The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.
