Celestial Peak Chapter 58

Wang Ling did not immediately return back to the camp as his appearance looked too pitiful and his injuries were rather severe. He had stopped the bleeding of the cuts he had received but healing it was another matter.
While Wang Ling was slowly flying on a low altitude flight. He started sorting out the contents of the six storage rings he had obtained from killing the men of the Soaring Wind Empire.
On his hands was the storage of those guys he had just thrown away to be eaten by savage beasts. Wang Ling sorted them out and found quite a good loot.
1,300 stellar stones, one grade 1 artifacts and a pseudo grade 2 artifact. There were also countless pills and spirit plants that has various uses but they were too many to list.
Wang Ling was of course happy about obtaining stellar stones but was he was happier about getting a ranked artifact. Artifacts were ranked, the grades of artifacts tells what cultivation grade is most suitable to use it.
A grade 1 artifact is used by nascent soul cultivator, grade 2 artifact by a saint stage cultivator, grade 3 and 4 are used by the [Cosmic Bridge] stage cultivators, and grade 4 is for celestial stage cultivator.
Although it was ranked as such, it's not like a cultivator can't use artifacts that is a grade higher than what is suitable. As long as the spirit qi of the one who uses it is enough and is capable of controlling the weapon, then there is no problem.
But because only a few ever have the ability to truly use weapons like that, people who has enough spirit qi to activate higher grade artifact was also too few.
Wang Ling won't have any problems with controlling a weapon and his great abundance of spirit qi is not going to a problem either. At the moment, what Wang Ling was missing is a proper weapon that can draw his strength out.
An ordinary sword may have the ability to provide him a weapon, but it was not capable enough to sustain itself in fights. In his fight with the Blood Devil Cult, his sword broke as his supplemental spirit qi was not enough and because the quality of his sword was poor.
The sword in his hands was a grade 1 sword. It can support his endeavors until he reaches sainthood. Also, the element of the sword was that of the wind. It was fast and sharp, making Wang Ling smile as he think of the augmentation he will receive once he used it in a real fight.
Finding a nice and quiet place to rest, Wang Ling took out ever medicine that has a healing effect out of the storage rings and stuffed it in his mouth. The potent medicinal value that was inside the pills started to spread all over his body as it dissolves.
Although normal people will not dare to do what he had just done, Wang Ling had no problem eating these number of pills. His body was capable of absorbing them without a problem.

The pills he had ingested where all tiered pills that was lower than a graded pill. Tiered pills were meant for cultivators that is higher than a foundational phase cultivator. Wang Ling decided to make full use of these pills before they become useless in the future.
The potent healing effect of the pills started spreading all over his body and with the help of his supreme spirit qi that also carried some healing attribute, Wang Ling's wounds began to close.
The one on his side closed up quickly, it was shallow and didn't pose any threat. On the other hand, the wound on his back was slow in comparison. The cut was deep and had almost reached his rib cage.
It was already nearing sunrise but the wound on his back has yet to close. Wang Ling chose to ingest a grade 1 pill and drove its healing effectivity towards the injury he had on his back.
Another hour was needed for the wound to completely close. But despite his attempt to not have any scars, the cut on his back had been too deep and had become one. The scar was not that big, it was only three inches in length, but using the common sense of mortals, such a scar was already something no one wanted to have.
A scar may not be painful, but before it became a scar. Just what kind of wound would a person need to receive just for a scar that wide to linger?
Wang Ling exhaled a murky breath and started cleaning his body with a piece of cloth. He started wiping the dirt away as he tried to make his body as clean as possible. Wang Ling finished and took out a new set of clothes from his storage ring.
"It's a good thing I have a lot of these." Said Wang Ling as he started changing into the new set of clothing he had taken out.
He was oddly really prepared about occurrences such as this. He had thought that every time his wings would emerged from his back, his clothes would be torn and he would need to change. It was really inconvenient, but he could nothing about it.
His wings were a part of his body and it could greatly augment his speed in a battle so he had no right to complain as the benefits were too great.
He came back to camp, just before sunrise and acted as if nothing was wrong. He saw the three was still in cultivation mode and he sighed as he started out a fire and began to roasts some meat.
Tiger Domination Sect was nowhere to be found and it seems like no conflict happened here when he was away.

Wang Ling and the others moved and another five days quickly passed by. They had been travelling for a while and they were furthering their journey into the depths of the White Dragon Valley.

With Fang Guan's leadership, they quickly managed to avoid many encounters with different people. They managed to avoid Blood Saber Cult who were said to be one of the most violent people in the continent three days ago.
Roar!!
Kriiii!!
The loud and sharp roars that was coming from the depths of the White Dragon Valley echoed and made the trees tremble. The roars and cries had been too frequent this past few days and it had been making Wang Ling's bloodline feel more blood.
Wang Ling's been trying to suppress it, but the closer he got to the depths of the White Dragon Valley, the stronger the effect it had on him.
In the morning, Wang Ling was barely hanging on, and at night, he was wreaking havoc at savage beasts that he comes into contact. He had even met with the Vermillion Crows one time but thanks to his strengthened cultivation, Wang Ling managed to fend them off.
"That cry is the seventh one, it had been happening more frequently lately. The ball of blood, or should I say the treasure is going to awaken any time soon." Said Fang Guan who was leading them.
"Mhm, you're right. The roars and cries had been getting stronger recently, the treasure must be reacting. But still, I wonder just what kind of treasure is hidden in this place? Is it the bones of the Phoenix?" commented Lu Lin who was running right of Wang Ling.
"I don't know, but whatever it is, this treasure is going to be extraordinary." Fang Guan answered her without actually giving an answer.
"But don't you think that something weird is going on?" Zi Liang who was by the side commented as she noted something was wrong, "The carcasses of beast we had been encountering lately were all sucked out of their blood, turning them into empty husk that have no use.
"Senior Brother Fang, Senior Sister Lu, something is wrong here. Those deaths were not normal, it was too weird and too irrational. Whatever caused the death of those beasts, the ball of blood the informant spoke of must be connected to it."
Zi Liang was worried about something that had also concerned Wang Ling this past few days. He shared the same sentiments as Zi Liang which was rare as he had always saw her as someone who had a narrow view on things.
For the past few days, they had encountered corpses that had no blood or any form of qi in their body.
From his previous observations, Wang Ling could surmised that the souls of those beasts were also held captive enabling them to move making them lose the chance of retaliation.
[Those beasts have weaker souls than the one who did that to them.] Thought Wang Ling as he continued to think hard about the current situation.
The treasure that they were trying to get was supposedly made of blood that had coagulated into a ball. The things that had been going weird had something to do with blood and Wang Ling was starting to get worried that the ball of blood they were chasing was a trap.
Fang Guan listened to Zi Liang and nodded his head as he tried his best to comfort her troubled heart.
"Something really is wrong, but we can't go back if the cause of this weird incident is really caused by the ball of blood. If we leave now, the victims on the ball of blood might not be savage beasts but become humans in the future.
"I know this is dangerous but as someone from the Piercing Heaven Empire that rules this area. We have the obligations to make sure that we will be able to avoid anything that can lead to the loss of lives of other people."
Fang Guan sounded heroic as he spoke. Zi Liang held her head down after hearing Fang Guan, she was rather ashamed after realizing that what she had said may also be seen as her being too scared to face the danger head on and run away.
However, whilst her head was down, she heard Wang Ling's indifferent tone of voice, "Don't worry, your worries are not unfounded. Being scared and running away is not something to be ashamed of." Wang Ling counseled her as he tried to keep the morale of their team as high as possible.
Zi Liang looked at Wang Ling with bewildered eyes as she heard his 'praise'?
As if she wanted to say something, she opened her little mouth… but as she was just about to say something the entire White Dragon Valley trembled.
Rumble!!
The ground shook as from afar two vivid looking image soar through the air.
Roar!!
Kriii!
Two blood red beast image appeared on the sky and let our heaven defying roar and cries.
The entire valley trembled and those who had gathered here looking for the treasure immediately headed for the place where this occurred… Wang Ling and the rest were no different.
"Let's go! We can't let other's get there first!"
====
On the place where the ball of blood entered a seclusion, the ball of blood was starting to show cracks and was a low growl echoed inside the cave.
A blood red eye appeared in between the cracks and a thick aura of slaughter permeated the air.
From the blood of the two beasts, another was inside. As to what kind of beast it was, no one really knows.

A note from the Author: PLEASE leave a review and alert me of any plot holes, weak portions, and anything else. I am in desperate need of beta readers and feedback. I wrote this around the new year, 2020. It's about 40k words and the first in a planned series that follows Gar "Alany" Darron and his agency of detectives as they track missing persons in the city of Throne. I have the sequel planned but not written. Once this one is completely uploaded, I'll be uploading another, unrelated series that as of right now is roughly 160k words long, and somewhere in there, I'll write the sequel to Frame of Mind. I plan to go back and forth between the two series for the foreseeable future. Thanks for reading.
