Celestial Peak Chapter 11

Wang Ling returned his courtyard after talking to Wang Hong and Butler Sun. But because of his situation where he couldn't really cultivate and create qi pillars, all he ever did was meditate for a while before getting called to eat lunch.
At around 1 o'clock in the afternoon Wang Ling entered the dining room of the Wang family and there he saw a weird scene.
The whole dining area was silent and Wang Yue had one book on one hand and was really focused on reading. Her attention was not getting away by anyone.
Wang Hong was sitting right beside her. He was constantly looking at Wang Yue as if he wanted to talk. He was like an awkward older brother trying to get the attention of his sister.
However, after trying and failing to get Wang Yue's attention from the book she was holding. Wang Hong chose to give up trying. He then noticed Wang Ling watching the whole thing play out by the door and could not help it and avert his eyes before laughing it off.
Wang Ling sat on an empty chair and waited for the food. While he was waiting, he found Wang Yue was still reading her book so he told her off.
"Yue, you should stop reading for a while."
It was just a simple sentence and not really an order but Wang Yue immediately dropped what she was doing and silently waited for the food to arrive like an obedient child. She was swinging her foot back and forth as she sat there without doing much.
Wang Hong noticed this and could help but feel a little hurt.
Why do you only respond to him? Am I not your older brother too?
Wang Hong wanted to cry for being left out by her sister but because he wanted to keep a certain amount of dignity and face, he kept his tears from flowing. Wang Ling sighed after seeing this.
The two sibling doesn't seem to have much bond with one another. He could understand why though. Wang Hong was practically an outsider. He was someone who trained in the house of their mother's family and would only return from time to time.
From what he heard, Wang Hong rarely returns unless there was an urgent matter at hand. Like if he needed to talk with their father then he will go back home. But if there's nothing like that, he will rarely go back here.
[This seems like it's going to be a headache.]
Wang Ling rubbed his glabella as a headache started to appear. The three siblings didn't really talk to one another and right until the food arrived and they started eating, the table was awfully quiet.
Soon, Wang Ling finished eating. He was the lightest of eaters of the three siblings. Mostly because he was someone who doesn't need to consume much energy. On the other hand, the two pair of brother and sister was still eating away.
The little girl was matching the pace of Wang Hong's pace of eating, meat for meat. If Wang Ling didn't know any better, he would've believed that Wang Yue was the one cultivating and not Wang Hong.
Shaking his head, Wang Ling stood up from the dining table and got ready to leave. He was just about to call for Butler Sun when he heard Wang Hong calling for him.

"Big brother, wait a moment, I need to ask you something."
Turning around, Wang Ling beckoned him to speak what was on his mind.
"Um, can I ask how you spoke to littler sister Yue?"
Wang Ling almost laughed out loud when he heard this. The macho looking cultivator had no means to talk to his own sister? Now that's something he found entertaining. Alas, he didn't had the time to watch Wang Hong so he just gave him some advice.
"Just talk to her about spirit plants. She's also close to mother, you should talk to her about these two things and you'll be able to talk to her naturally."
Wang Hong nodded his head when he heard Wang Ling.
"I don't really have that much story concerning mother but I am knowledgeable about spirit plants. Oh, what is the best topic she likes? Does she have any preference when it comes to spirit plants?"
"There's nothing really, but I suggest you talk about spirit plants that's higher than a tiered spirit plant. It would be best if you can talk about a Ranked spirit plant. Oh, don't startle her by being too nosy, take it easy. Also, instead of worrying about this, you should worry about your cultivation, I read a lot of books about talented cultivators who ended up becoming trash after not working hard enough."
With that piece of advice, Wang Ling left the dining area and went to talk to Butler Sun. Butler Sun was just outside the dining hall. Seems like he intentionally went outside to give the Wang siblings some space so they can talk.
That didn't end up so well though.
"Young master, you're already finished? Are you going back to your courtyard now?"
Wang Ling shook his head.
"Can I ask for a sword? A set of sword technique our family cultivate will also be good. Now that I decided to cultivate, I want to practice some sword techniques to increase my fighting capabilities."
Wang Ling spoke with utmost innocence. His words sounded so innocent that it made others thing that what he was talking about was what he learned from a book. It was like seeing a grown up getting influenced by a book really.
However, Wang Ling had different thoughts. He wanted to practice sword techniques because he wanted to show his family that he has strength to protect himself. As for the reason why he wanted to practice on his family martial art rather than his superior techniques.
It was because he was someone who supposedly woke up from a deep slumber. Even if he wanted to act dumb that he's someone who has a hidden master who gave him some ancient sword technique, Wang Ling couldn't do that.
His mind was supposed to be asleep and didn't have any kind of awareness so where in the world would he get a sword technique out of the blue? With that in mind, Wang Ling chose to practice the sword technique of his family.
If he can use the Wang family sword technique as a front then it wouldn't really be a problem for him to cultivate another sword technique he wants to cultivate. Wang Ling already had a map of what he was going to do in this eight days of qi pillar restoration,
Butler Sun went ahead and complied with Wang Ling's request after hearing what he wanted. He was someone who does things quickly and efficiently, soon enough, even before Wang Ling could return to his courtyard, Butler Sun was already there waiting for him.

Was he a ghost?
A passing thought appeared.
Butler Sun passed him a one handed sword which was 18 inches long or a foot and a half. There were two books on Butler Sun's possession, one was about the Wang family swordsmanship named [Tidal Wave Sword] the other was a set of body cultivation technique called [Thunder Fist].
"I advise young master to first cultivate your body before training your sword. Training the body before using a weapon is much more ideal in comparison to diving into a regular sword training."
Butler Sun gave his earnest advice to Wang Ling. Wang Ling nodded his head in response to what Butler Sun had said.
Wang Ling was well aware what Butler Sun was talking about. He should cultivate his body before anything else. The body can be seen as the vessel of spirit qi and soul, if the soul and spirit qi is stronger than the vessel it is likely the vessel will be destroyed in the future.
Wang Ling was well aware of this matter. In the end he didn't say anything to go against the idea of training a fist technique, he had a lot of free time anyway. Nine days of free time in fact.
If he gets serious, he can master this fist technique in a flash.
With that said, Butler Sun did not stay on Wang Ling's courtyard as he had other matters to attend to.
"Oh, young master please take note that there would be a banquet tonight to celebrate your brother's return. Although it will only be a small one please don't overwork yourself into fainting like you did when you were reading."
Wang Ling saw Butler Sun off and went to do his do his own thing. He went ahead and sat on the well-trimmed grass of his courtyard to read the two techniques he was given.
It didn't take him too long to finish reading the two techniques. After reading, he got up and started forming a fist.
Hu!
He fist was not as fast thunder but there was a sound of wind being split so it was better than nothing. What he is practicing was the Thunder Fist.
The Thunder Fist needs spirit qi to be used. [Martial Technique]needs spirit qi to be utilized properly. However, there are exceptions. This Thunder Fist was one such exception, it was mainly focused on the basic of martial arts so it doesn't use any spirt qi.
The only time this technique ever uses spirit qi is when Wang Ling decides to use the proper Thunder Fist.
He soon started practicing fist techniques. Diligently throwing his fist just like the book told him to, Wang Ling soon managed to reach minor completion in a manner of minutes,
An hour later, Wang Ling already reached the consummation level of mastery.
There were four levels, from lowest to highest it goes like so: [Minor Completion], [Intermediate], [Advance], and [Consummation]. Wang Ling was someone with thousands of years of experience, mastering a low-level technique such as this is easy.
Why would someone with thousands of years of experience fumble around the principles of low-level techniques? It simply does not make sense.
There were different level of each martial techniques, starting from the lowest level it is: [Mortal], [Earth], [Sky], and [Saint].
Wang Ling had a lot of martial technique that is sky level and a few saint level. If you count his earth and mortal level martial technique, then it would take three full days to make a full compilation.
The Thunder Fist is a mortal level martial technique at most. It was a widespread technique that can be bought for a few coppers a copy in the streets after all.
High level martial techniques were priceless so one should not expect a martial technique to be sold in a flea market.
Wang Ling practiced the Thunder Fist for a whole hour. The Thunder Fist have eight different maneuvers which is simply useless and one strikes that has some use.
He was only practicing the one useful strike. The strike was called [Rising Thunder]. It was basically a glorified fast uppercut.
Another half an hour passed and Wang Ling felt his body aching. It was only at this time that Wang Ling stopped. He didn't stop because he was tired mind you, it was because it was time to start his proper training.
If fist technique was useful then he only needed to find a good one in his memory bank, not only that, he should find something that uses the whole body. He browsed through his mind and soon found the one he wanted to practice.
[Eight Tiger Maneuver], smiling Wang Ling recalled every word that was supposed to be written in the book of the Eight Tiger Maneuver. He recalled each and every steps starting from the forward fist until the high kick.
Taking a deep breath, he started punching and kicking. He started twisting and turning, every move of his made his muscles move, his fibers and internal organs were being worked at this very moment.
Every time he threw a punch his while body will move, every time he released a kick his whole being will shudder. Only ten minutes after he started Eight Tiger Maneuver and his whole body was already drenched in sweat.
His clothes were soaked and his breathing was disorderly. His muscles were hurting and internal organs screaming. However, Wang Ling did not stop and continued to push himself to the very limits.
Through sheer grit and determination, Wang Ling threw another punch. But unlike his other punches that was as fast lightning, this one was as slow as a turtle.
With his feet rooted solid on the floor, Wang Ling threw a punch forward and just as it was reaching the front of his chest his whole body trembled from exhaustion.
Pah!
This continued on for another twenty minutes before Wang Ling was forced to stop because his muscles and veins were already screaming.
As Wang Ling collapsed on the grass of his garden, Wang Ling looked at the sky with a smile. He wanted to raise one of his hands but because he had no strength, the best he could do was lift a single finger.
As he lie there with his body too exhausted to even move, he spoke.
"Wait for me, the experts of the world, Wang Ling is coming."

[The Story] What this story is: A LitRPG, portal-like, slow-moving story with a protagonist who has to balance crafting and 'magic' to survive. The books have a pre-thought-out plot and finish. Also, the world is harsh, and things don't always go the MC's way. What it is not: A drama, romance, grimdark, although these elements might appear. I've had some feedback that the intro seems to set up a very rough life for the MC. There is a reason for this, and I hope you give it a try beyond the first few chapters. Do note, this is not an unreasonably harsh novel.

A lot of new content has been added to the early chapters since the end of May. The first chapters are still under construction and editing, but all the major changes are done. I was a webnovel junkie for a long time, but I found it hard to find novels with solid characters, decent plot, philosophical underpinnings and a fully painted world to keep me going. I've taken from every genre I've liked to make a story that satisfies my own cravings for a good story. If you like the story or have suggestions please leave a comment or review. I hope this novel is fun, provocative but above all fun. Enjoy. Yours truly, James Paul Addington PS I will release at least two chapters a week, or one really long chapter. Concerning the tags: The story is primarily Fantasy with Wuxia influence in some elements. Romance won't happen for the first two arcs or so (roughly 40 chapters), I want to build the world before I do that. Tragedy is because of an event that occurs in the book, not the tone of the book. The book is more lighthearted. Slice of Life doesn't occur till the third arc (the romance happens during that arc as well). Magic will also show up more in later arcs, but appears throughout. Reincarnation it's not a reincarnation like in the traditional sense, but it has a similar concept.
