The Legend of Min Hong Chapter 448

Then the phoenix opened its wings and spread it wide, as the image of a Dao Tree with about ten Dao Branches appeared on the tree...
But strangely, there were only nine nascent souls sitting cross-legged about Dao Tree, with each one sitting atop of their respective Dao branches, except for the Void Dao Branch which seemed to have no nascent soul sitting on it.
[All these were excluding the invisible Rebirth Flame Dao Branch and Rebirth Nascent Soul]
The Primus Dao Tree and the nascent souls then entered Min Hong's body, as his total battle power aura began to soar once again;
1 Star Nirvana/Samsara stage...
2 Star...
3 Star;
and it continued until it reached the 5 Star Nirvana/Samsara stage and Min Hong's aura stopped growing, and the moment that happened, Little Fei announced;
"Happy Fifteenth Birthday!"
Boom!
Min Hong abruptly released his aura and instantly, his spirit sense began to expand until it returned to its previous 15 mile range, before he discovered something was wrong within himself…
Sending his consciousness deep within himself, Min Hong arrived in front of his Dao Tree and there they were, except for the Rebirth Flame Dao which was still in the First Plane Essence Level, the rest of his Daos had reduced by one plane;
"Do you know why this happened?"
Min Hong asked Little Fei seemingly uninterested by the announcement of his fifteenth birthday as it was already daybreak;
"You have just defied death itself, so this must be the price you pay for cheating death…" Little Fei explained;
"A simple reduction of a plane to cheat death, and you are in the Sixth Plane Law Level, doesn't that mean you can die 26 more times, before you are finally doomed?" Daniel added;
"I don't think so… There is a possibility that the rate of plane deduction if I was in the Intent Level would be double, and quadruple if I was in the Concept Level…" Min Hong debunked Daniels theory with his idea…
"It is as you have said, but much dangerous; the level of power of a Law Level Dao is more than 10 times that of the Intent Level and it is the same case between Intent and Concept Level…"
"Thus, I believe you previously had three lives, but now that you have used one, you have two more…" Little Fei revealed the true extent of the Rebirth ability…
"Well on the brighter side, Lightning and Flame can no longer kill you, so we can strike them off the list…" Daniel cheered up the group and then Min Hong finally revealed a smile…
Poof!

Meanwhile, within the necropolis where a youth, a young lady and an old man were standing, the lamp they were all staring at suddenly went up in black flames…
Then the black tongue of flame birthed a blood red tip which continued to grow until the tongue of flame was now half black and half red…
Then a purple flame appeared, followed by a blue one, and then a golden one before a white tip then appeared, causing the single tongue of flame to possess six different colors…
But none of those who were standing knew that, right at the base of this tongue of flame was an invisible one which kept fueling the rest…
"It is done…" The youth sighed as the lady in his embrace had slacked jaws…
This was the first time she was seeing a soul lamp reignite itself after going off, and though her husband had a bloodline that allowed him to become undying to anything that tries to kill him, but that was provided that he survived that thing; this means that her husband's soul lamp never went off during these times, and might only teeter on the verge of going off, but it never did…
"Is there something you both know that you are not telling me… You know he is my son, right?" The young lady spoke with a demanding tone;
"We also don't understand it… All we can say is, we have a mysterious benefactor who gives us some major information about him…"
The old man with the cane responded before the youth beside him added;
"But I have sent a disciple from the Deva Hall down there to monitor him from the shadows, and not interfere…"
"Are you telling me that you have a way of me seeing my son all this while and yet you did not tell me!?"
The lady who was a short-fuse was already getting pissed off as the youth quickly added with an awkward chuckle;
"Honey no way… The disciple is the weakest in the Deva Hall and is only a 6 Star Saint Stage little kid, thus the speed with which we sent him was a little slow, thus he must have only reached halfway through his journey down there…"
"If we tried to send him any faster, he might be ripped to shreds, and though he is weak, he is still a disciple of the Deva Hall…"
The lady's frowned lessened a bit but didn't vanish, so the youth had to soothe her;
"Don't worry, when he arrives, you will be the first to know, then you can watch him grow without any hiccups…" When the lady heard this, her frowned then disappeared;

"Hmph! You had better do as you say, otherwise- Hmph!"
She snorted twice, but the old man with the cane and the youth both sighed in relief…
They both knew what the lady was capable of, and though she might not be able to defeat some God Realm experts, she had the ability to eradicate billions of experts in the Divine Realm with a simple sentence; and should she target all the citizens and inhabitants of their dimension, they would be nothing they can do to stop her…
The previous Seasons Sage was a typical example of that; he had mistakenly hit their daughter a little too much during training, and from 10,000 miles away, she simply uttered;
"Explode!" and the man exploded into a cloud of blood and gore whilst eating in the presence of his family…
It had taken the youth a great deal of subtlety to keep the news from spreading, revive the man and finally compensate his family;
After all, the man lost his sage powers, and was still currently cultivating to return to his former peak…
"I have also sent Lian'er to father to keep him away from everything that just happened…" The youth added once again;
"What? Why would you send my daughter to that beast?" The lady was about to fume once again, but the youth quickly explained;
"Father can't do anything against her, and neither can he stop her from causing trouble…"
"That is the perfect type of situation that can prevent father from poking his nose into our son's situation…"
"Moreover, didn't you want to get back at him for everything he has done?" The youth asked;
"Certainly, but what if he gets too serious and injure my baby girl?"
The lady wasn't pissed, rather she only had worry etched on her face;
"Ironically, father loves Lian'er even much more than her older brother, so he would do no such thing, and in the light that he does, I told her to cultivate the Menos over there…" He added as the lady finally revealed a smile;
"That's why I love you dear…"
She said before planting a good kiss on the youth's lips and they didn't separate until the lady's father cleared his throat;
"What is this Menos thing that you just spoke about?" He asked out of curiosity…
"Oh, it is a technique that ensures that its user's enemy runs out of Qi in battle… When cultivated to its peak, it can only be effective against experts of the same cultivation level…"
The youth added and the old man simply stared at the boy like he had seen a true monster;
"What!?"
"It's a useless technique to us, and it had been collecting dust in our library for years now, that is why I gave it to her…" The youth replied;
"Couldn't you have swapped it for something else?" The old man who was still perplexed blurted;
"I have everything I need right here, and if I ever need anything else, I can simply return to my clan and pick from our treasure hall or library…" The youth spoke like it was nothing…
"Furthermore, Lian'er should have ascended into immortality before she returns, so there was no point in keeping it around anymore…"
He added but the old man couldn't comprehend the depths of the youth's level of mysteriousness; he had known the youth for over 60 years now, and he still keeps springing up surprises time after time;
"There is no use in thinking about this… Let me send you guys back…"
The old man added and stabbed his cane into the empty air, causing the area around the cane to ripple like water before a portal then spun to life…
Min Hong on the other hand, dusted himself and looked at a spot over 15 miles away from his current position and activated his 'Omnipresence' technique, but contrary to normal expectations, his clone appeared about 12 miles away this time;
"12 miles unh?"
"Still manageable…" Min Hong smiled at himself before swapping spot with the clone;
"But at least, our plan to throw them off your back has worked perfectly…" Daniel soothed Min Hong;
"Yeah, now the fate which they were scared of is now inevitable to them, and even worse…" Little Fei added;
"How is it worse?" Min Hong asked;
"Because now they think you are dead and will never see you coming…" Little Fei explained causing Min Hong's smile to widen;
"I will be their worst nightmare…" He said as he jumped another 12 miles;
"Better still, we now have confirmation that they are truly trying to take over the Dogon Empire…" Daniel reminded;
"When we return, we should inform the Imperials about this, they would obviously not allow us return empty handed…" Daniel hoped but Min Hong simply debunked;
"There is nothing they can give me that is better than what I can get from simply challenging the 'Pagoda of Ascension' or taking a mission from Daisy…"
"Speaking of Daisy, is there still no new mission yet?" Min Hong asked a more important question as he jumped another 12 miles ahead…

Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.

Mistwalker Xyn and the Cult of Eldritch Evil
[Participant in the 2020 Royal Road Writathon Challenge] Having just graduated to adulthood, Xyn is salty about how his lackluster Awakening has resulted in his current derided status within his clan and tribe, particularly when compared to the successes of his litter-siblings. The revelation of the truth about his heritage sets in motion events leading to him traveling to human lands on a secret mission for his tribe. Cringeworthy moments and awkwardness will ensue as young Xyn (an anthropomorphic tiger-kin), raised in the sheltered life of a martial artist, navigates human society with a trusty sidekick or two picked up along the way and might just save his corner of the world while he's at it. Gore will be minimally present as needed to tell a fantasy martial arts tale. There won't be any sexual content, but mild/vague suggestive themes may occur occasionally due to the nature of Xyn's mission and his insecurities. Story should be teen appropriate.
