The Legend of Min Hong Chapter 295

But just before the youth could speak again, Chu Huang waved his hands signaling the youth to pause before looking over to the bowing sect leader and asking;
"You had better give me a cogent explanation for this…"
The moment he said that, Fifth couldn't help but feel a deep sense of Déjà vu as he looked at the sect leader who was subtly trembling at the moment…
"Now, tell me Rou Gang… Why have you kept me waiting for over half an hour?"
"Your Highness, I was out in the desert plains, outside of the Sunfire City…"
"Okay, so you were having a sun tanning!?" Chu Huang replied sarcastically…
"No, your highness…"
"So are you lying or am I?"
"No your highness words are always absolute…"
"So, does that means you are lying?"
"Your highness, I was there to investigate a very sensitive matter of the sect…"
"Oh!?"
"Tell me more…"
"You highness this is a matter I would rather tell you privately…"
Chu Huang looked to his sides and the amount of people here only numbered about five…
His grandson, the sect leader, Fifth, the retainer and himself…
"Alright…"
With a wave of his sleeves, the sect leader isolated himself and Chu Huang in a separate pocket of space…
"I'm listening…"
"This matter concerns one of our outer court disciples your highness…"
The moment the sect leader made that statement Chu Huang already knew who he was talking about…
As a matter of fact, Chu Huang had long since known who the sect leader was talking about the moment he made mention of the desert plains…
This was because there is no other matter of a certain magnitude that can force the sect leader to take action in person, unless it had to do with the ass whooping his subordinates received out there, but because he didn't want the sect leader to know that he witnessed everything, Chu Huang acted oblivious and allowed the sect leader to narrate everything he thought happened from his own perspective just to test the investigative capabilities of the sect leader and how good he actually was at doing his job…

The sect leader narrated everything he knew about the matter, and judging from everything Chu Huang himself knew and understood, the sect leader was about 55 percent correct, nodding his head lightly whilst bending his lips in a 'Not bad' manner, Chu Huang waved the sect leader to stand from his kneeling position as he ordered;
"Keep an eye on everything and report any updates directly to me…"
"Since I am here, I would wait to witness the 'War God Trials' before returning…" "Your wish is my bidding, your highness…"
The sect leader replied as he let out a huge sigh of relief, then as if remembering a very vital information, he quickly added;
"This, Fei Hong lad would also be challenging the 'War God Trials' tomorrow…"
"Perhaps, he would be lucky enough to find favor in the sight of your highness…"
"Hmph! The imperial clan doesn't just recruit anyone you know…"
"Furthermore, even if he turns out to be as talented as you claim, then it would be preferable for him to grow a little bit before he is sent over to the Imperial Capital…" Patriarch Chu Huang pretended to be uninterested…
Seeing that their conversation had come to an end and his neck is now out of the guillotine, the sect leader waved his sleeves as the space around them warped once again, returning them to the main hall where the youth, Fifth and the sect leader's retainer were waiting quietly…
Once they arrived, the sect leader told his retainer to attend to Patriarch Chu Huang, and just as he was ordered, the retainer took them to the region of the sect befitting for the hospitality of an Emperor…
"How did it go?"
Fifth asked after the Patriarch left as the sect leader turned around and patted him on the shoulder before heaving a deep sigh of relief;
"We have much work to do, Fifth…"
"I understand…" Fifth responded…
He was also interested in finding out where Min Hong was from, not for any other reason, other than sheer curiosity and the prospects of having a beneficial relationship with Min Hong, because his instincts told him that, the foil over Min Hong's talent hasn't even been torn yet…

Meanwhile…
Back within Min Hong's apartment…
Min Qing was currently laid on Min Hong's bed and was being cared to by Min Rou whilst Min Hong was in the sitting room, surrounded by every member of the Hong Dynasty, who were currently deeply confused and emotionally disoriented…
"What!?"
"That's impossible!"
"Is it?" Min Hong asked…
He was currently deeply unhappy and pissed…
"I thought as much… The noise and chants compared to what was actually going on was unbalanced and not corresponding…"
Long Sha thought to himself with a deep frown etched on his face…
To him, anyone who messed with Min Hong and Min Qing had also messed with him, and he was severely unhappy that someone actually had the ability to mask every single sense of perception he had whilst they were busy doing something else to his friends…
If they had evil intentions towards both of them, then wouldn't they have been kidnapped if lucky and killed if unlucky?
This was a scenario and feeling that left a bitter taste in his mouth, and Long Sha hated it… deeply…
"But that level of power though…"
"To have the ability to plunge every single spectator which numbered over 30 thousand into an illusion without even showing himself…"
"I don't know about you guys, but that is so OP…"
Mu Li blurted whilst shaking his head with a bitter smile, whilst Kun Chao simply glanced at his sister before they shook their head subtly but simultaneously…
"So what do we do?"
"Nothing's changed, we move on with our plans…"
Min Hong responded to Mu Bai's question…
"Actually, this could be another avenue for good fortune for us…" Mu Li said from the side...
"Really!?"
"How's that!?"
Kun Chao and Kun Lin asked simultaneously…
"Well if the fight everyone saw yesterday was as we claimed it was, then won't that mean the odds of us winning would be sky high…"
Mu Li's words hid a deeper meaning, but everyone within the group understood where he was coming from and where he was going…
"But what about big sister…"
It was only now that everyone remembered that the sulky Qing Tan was in the room…
"She's going to be alright…"
"The attack didn't touch her, so I guess it was the effect of her awakening her bloodline that caused her to lose consciousness…"
Min Hong reassured her as he opened one of his arms for her, which Qing Tan didn't hesitate to snuggle into and find comfort…
"She's awake…"
Min Hong was about to continue on with his conversation when Min Rou interrupted him, but this sort of interruption was the best they could ever ask for, because it just eased a certain fraction of their worries…
Rushing into Min Hong's room, they found Min Qing still lying on the bed but with a massively lethargic expression…
"Big sis!"
Qing Tan rushed over to Min Qing's side and snuggled beside her whilst Min Hong asked;
"How are you feeling?"
"I'm completely fine… I just feel completely drained of Qi for some strange reasons…"
Min Qing replied with a smile as she sat up and rested her back on the cushion pillow and Qing Tan's head on her laps as she caressed her hair to ease her worries…
"Alright, you rest well for now… Little Qing would be here with you… I and the rest have some things to discuss…"
"I will fill you in at night or midnight…" [Damn... That came out wrong!]
Min Hong released Min Qing's hand and stood up from the bed, as he and the rest of the group returned to the living room…

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
