The Legend of Min Hong Chapter 82

"That's right…the myriad part of the technique comes from the Universal Law merging abilities of the 'Eye of Infinite Daos'." Elder Chen began a detailed explanation.
"Since Little Sun knows nothing about this technique, I would tell you all about it. Firstly, you need to comprehend one Universal Law before you can begin, because ordinary Qi won't work with it."
"Others who cultivate this technique started with an ordinary cultivation technique, so when they comprehended their first Universal Law, they switched cultivation techniques and began to use it."
"This is because, this technique allows one to cultivate the energy of whatever Universal Law they comprehend. But, where they got it wrong was that, they thought that everyone could only cultivate it using a single law."
"After all, having two Universal Laws within an expert could basically kill him. It is also the same with having two different Qi's within an expert's body. So, they all opted for drawing Qi from their strongest Universal Law and then using it to cultivate."
"This means that, for anyone who draws the Wood Law Qi, they will possess a Qi that naturally has healing properties. This is the same for those who uses the Water Law Qi. Also, those who use the Lightning Law Qi, would have Qi that possesses a numbing effect."
"This is irrespective of the martial arts or divine abilities one uses. For example, if you use a wind type martial art and you used the Water Law to cultivate this technique, the properties of that art would change from its initial 'wind type' into a 'frost type'." He explained.
"This is because the Water Law within your Qi would merge with the 'wind intent' of the martial art and then frost would be born. Furthermore, you need to understand the difference between frost and ice."
"The Ice Law exists individually and is a Universal Law on its own. But frost just the intent that arises when one fuses Water and Wind as two individual intent. It can also arise when one of the two elements is a Law while the other is an intent." Elder Chen tutored.
"But what if both elements are Laws, can one fuse them together and furthermore, would it be called the Ice Law or Frost Law?" Min Hong asked.
"Now, that is the intellect you wow me with. But for your answer, only very abnormally talented few can do that, even in our ancient world. But those who manage to do that, are called SAGES and if they are young, we call them 'Young SAGES'."
"This is because asides from the fact that Laws are overbearing and proud, most of them would choose to explode rather than fuse with one another. Furthermore, it is one thing to have two separate Laws within the body and fuse them together once they are out."
"It is another thing to have two fused Laws within the body, right off the bat. To make it easy for you to understand, all experts who uses Laws such as; Magma, Karma, Tai-ji, Inferno, Blizzard, Eclipse, Frost and so on, right off the bat, are all SAGES."
"To be clear, these are not people who summon Water Law and Wind Law separately and then fuse them together, I am talking about those who summon Frost Law directly. Do not mess with them. You might be dead before you know it." Elder Chen seriously warned.
"This reason is because, for the fact that they have fused two Universal Laws together into one, heavens reward them with effortless and absolute control over the two initial Laws. This means that they will possess absolute control over the two Universal Laws that were fused."

"For the case of a Sage who uses the 'Frost Law', he or she would possess absolute control over the Water Law and Wind Law. So, if you battle such a Sage using the Water Law, he or she has the ability to strip away your control of the Water Law completely." He added.
"Huoyi's curly beard! How does one even get to battle such a person?" Min Hong cringed at the thought being literally handicapped of one Law while his opponent could actually use two of them.
That is an out and out suicide! There are no two ways about it.
"That is why I told you that such people are harder to find than Qilin horns and Phoenix feathers. But that doesn't mean they do not exist. In fact, there were about nine of them in our world back then. Four young Sages and their grandfathers respectively plus one beast."
"What? A Sage beast?" this time Min Hong squealed like a naked girl who suddenly had a spider fall on her body.
"Yes…Beasts that possess two or more bloodlines within them have the chance to become Sages, since each of their bloodlines would be attuned towards a particular Universal Law. But that's only if they live long enough to achieve that without being captured."
"Experts look for beasts with Sage bloodlines in their infancy so that they can harness the fused Universal Law within their bloodlines. So, such beasts are extremely rare since they die very young or are enslaved and kept in hiding all their lives to serve as clan or sect guardians."
"This is great news!" Min Hong exclaimed. "Do you know which Universal Law is more attuned towards the Quicksilver Eagle?" He asked.
"Eeh?! How do you know of the Quicksilver Eagle bloodline?" Elder Chen jumped in fright.
"The guardian beast of my family has a tiny trace of its bloodline along with that of a Void Soul Owl within its body." Min Hong blurted in excitement.
"What?! Where is it right now? Please I want to see it. Ask me for anything afterwards and I will give you." Elder Chen was so agitated his divine sense was flickering rapidly.
"What are you getting all flustered about? I should be standing right on it." Min Hong looked at his senior apprentice brother who abruptly began to act weirdly.
"What?!" Elder Chen was stunned by Min Hong's statement. "Y…you… urgh, I give up."
"You are using a beast with a Quicksilver Eagle bloodline as a mount? Do you want to provoke the anger and curse of several Ancient Devas and Asuras upon yourself?" Elder Chen blew up in pure rage as his mental body flickered intensely.
"What are you talking about? Stop all these fake reactions, it's really unbefitting of someone of your calibre." Min Hong also fumed in response.
Huuuuu!
Slap! Smack! Knock!
Elder Chen sighed deeply before giving Min Hong's mental body a slap on the face, a smack on the head and a knock right in the middle of his head in quick succession. Min Hong had not even blinked before everything started and ended.
"May the gods and goddesses forgive your transgressions." He sighed. "The Quicksilver Eagle's bloodline is now extinct. They do not exist anymore, not in this world or in our ancient worlds or their records either."
"The Quicksilver Eagles had left humankind about a million years ago. Only their fossils can be found in several inheritance grounds. Even I do not know much about them. Probably, only the ancient scholars would know a little more about them."

"But one thing is for sure and was common knowledge in all ancient worlds and dimensions, and that is to pray that one never sees you. Then if it does, pray for a painless death. But before I say any more, I want to see it." Elder Chen demanded.
"Alright!" Min Hong ascended as Elder Chen's mental body raised its hand and touched Min Hong's mental body, then Min Hong opened his eyes in the outside world.
Then, they saw Elder Yun who perched on a tree not too far away.
"Huoyi's curly beard! It really is a Quicksilver Eagle's bloodline." Elder Yun exclaimed, then his gaze fell on Min Qing and he mumbled. "Eeh. The Genesis Yin bloodline?"
"That's changes a lot… that's enough, lets return and end this." Upon hearing his statement, Min Hong shut his eye and returned to the spot where they were previously chatting.
But the moment he shut his eyes; Min Qing opened hers as she mumbled to herself. "Did Hong-ge just open his eyes?"
She waited for a while, but after getting no response whatsoever, she then returned to her cultivation.
------------------------------------------------------
"Haha Ha-ha! I have seen a beast with a Quicksilver Eagle bloodline."
"A live one at that, haha! Zheng Chao, you bastard! I won…hahaha… I won at last." Elder Chen was laughed manically.
"I have finally achieved something you never can, not even if you manage to reincarnate into another world. Little brother, you have really fulfilled one of my dreams. I can finally die without regrets." Elder Chen rejoiced.
"Uh? Y... you… you are yet to tell me all I need to know and you're talking about dying?!" Min Hong fumed. This senior apprentice brother of his has started to act unreliably again.
"Not now you mutt. But once we are done here, you must tell Little Sun that of your three companions. There is a beast with the Quicksilver Eagle bloodline, another with the ancient Void Dragon bloodline, and most importantly, your girlfriend with the Genesis Yin bloodline."
"But sh..." Min Hong wanted to interject but was cut off by Elder Chen.
"Firstly, I don't care whatever relationship is between you two, but you must be very careful around her. Secondly, you must never let her leave your sight, talk less of her being taken anywhere that you don't know, or know whatever she is doing or what they are doing to her."
"Finally, once you tell Little Sun all I have asked you to, he will calmly explain everything you need to do clearly. After all, we spent over ten thousand years together with my scholar pal, Zheng Chao. So, he has more than half of both our knowledge combined." He added.
"Since you're not giving me any information about their bloodlines, can we move to the explanation of the second cultivation technique you want to give me?" Min Hong whined.
"Since we have Sages who can fuse two Universal Laws, you can do much more than that. With the Primus Dao, you can fuse as many as you can, so this technique suits you perfectly."
"The second secret I infused within the technique is only known to me. I call it the 'Pilfer Mode', and it allow you to basically steal elemental energies and Qi from others via touch. the firmer you touch anyone, the more you can steal from them." Elder Chen whispered.
"Back then, anytime I want to use it, I use the first ability to add a death Qi to my attack to hide this secret from everyone. So, when my opponents feel a loss of energy, they attribute it to the Death Qi." He continued.
"So, these are the two techniques I'll be giving you. A body cultivation technique that needs specific kinds of materials to cultivate, and a perfect Qi cultivation technique created by me that taps into the power of the 'Eye of Infinite Dao'." Elder Chen praised.
"You said Little Wu knows the kind of materials I need to cultivate the [Kingmaker Codex] and the [Myriad Path Codex]. Since that's out of the way, let's move on to the next item on the menu; the inheritance trial grounds." Min Hong spoke.
"Firstly, the trial involves you living through a storyline about virtually all Laws, then the 'great creator' would ask you the biggest question in the universe; which is the strongest'? But luckily there are no wrong answers since you would have to choose a Law eventually."
"Then whatever Law you choose as the strongest is the one the 'great creator' will bestow upon you. But where the danger lies is that, if you cannot comprehend the Law you have been granted. The 'great creator' would deem you unworthy and you will never return."
"So, it is a very tricky situation. If you choose the strongest Universal Law and you end up being unable to comprehend it, then you're dead. But if you choose the weakest Universal Law, then you would have wasted the greatest opportunity of your life."
"How many Universal Laws can I choose from, which one did you pick and do you know what the test for comprehending the Universal Laws would look like?" Min Hong asked.
"Firstly, all Universal Laws are available with the 'great creator'. Secondly, I obtained the Law of Space and finally, there is no way the comprehension test for two Universal Laws would be similar, since they all possess different properties." Elder Chen answered.
"So, I will have to rely on myself unh…cool I have never really like being helped out anyways. Moreover, I am blessed with extraordinary luck, that even my tragic experience was turned to a source of a brighter future." Min Hong thought to himself.
"Furthermore, when you have obtained a Universal Law and a bloodline, the entire dimension will be opened to you, and just like all dimensions, it contains its own world entirely. There are regions, continents, dynasties, kingdoms and so on."
"As you grow in strength, there are several challenges you can take on to unlock several benefits. The toughest challenge comes with the greatest reward; which is gaining total control and bringing the entire ancient dimension to reality." Elder Chen explained.
The instant he said that, the ancient and overbearing aura which leaked out from the earlier from the dimension erupted once again. This time it headed directly for the clouds, smashing apart everything in its path. Elder Chen and Min Hong sensed this phenomenon and cringed.
"Remember this; Don't trust to anyone, trust only yourself. Don't have enemies, don't have friends. That way everyone will be your enemy, and everyone will be your friend."
"Fight every battle everywhere always in your mind play every possible series of events all at once within your mind. Live that way and nothing will surprise you. Everything that happens would be something you have seen before." Elder Chen advised as he began to dissipate.
His divine sense scattered into several motes of light as two peculiar looking motes of light and a golden-green eye darted towards Min Hong. They eye slammed into his forehead and instantly merged with it, while the other two motes of light slammed into his body.
The aura reached the spot and spread out as if searching for something. A part of it washed over Min Hong searching every part of his soul and after a fruitless search, they returned.
Huuuuu!
Min Hong let out a deep sigh as he caressed his forehead and muttered. "Thanks a lot for being my forerunner. You are the greatest senior apprentice brother ever." Min Hong smiled.
Then after saying his farewells, his soul fell and returned to the ancient portal...

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
