Chapter 74: This Is Actually True
Translator: Simple MTL Editor: Simple MTL
Come, if you have the ability, why don’t you try hurting me?
I, Anthony, am the Great Prince of the Simon Empire and a graduate of the Rune Academy. How can I be fooled by a mere two-star rune-master like you?
The steel bars, ice blades, fireballs, and the thorns and vines that were rapidly approaching like flood dragons, including the collapsed ruins beside them, were all standing high up in the sky and collapsing towards him.
Anthony’s eyes were full of disdain, and he could not help but sneer in his heart.
The opponent’s illusion was indeed very powerful, but an illusion was an illusion.
It would not cause any real damage.
It was just a waste of his spiritual power.
Then, there was a rumble.
Countless ice blades, steel bars, and fireballs struck Anthony’s body. All kinds of plants wrapped him up, and countless cement stones from the ruins smashed toward his head.
Boom Boom Boom..,
The air around Anthony erupted as if a few bombs had exploded in succession. Flames filled the sky, illuminating the ground into a world of flames.
“Ahhhhh!” Anthony threw his head back and roared.
This attack was actually real, and not fake.
Anthony was completely dumbfounded.
He was not prepared for this attack, and all the attacks landed on his body. He spat out a mouthful of blood.
After fighting for so long, this was the first time that Lugh had broken through Anthony’s defense.
He was smashed to the ground, sinking deep into the soil. His body was filled with steel bars, ice blades, and all kinds of wounds. His skin was burned into charcoal by fireballs. His originally gorgeous clothes were now charred black. Blood kept flowing out of the wounds.

Anthony gritted his teeth and gathered his last bit of spirit.
He used all of his runic abilities to heal and defend.
Even so.
This enormous attack still caused Anthony to feel incomparably painful.
Although they weren’t life-threatening, his body suffered a large number of injuries.
But his fighting strength was definitely damaged.
At this moment, Anthony was no longer the same as when he first appeared. His combat ability had been greatly reduced.
His face was filled with shock. “Impossible, how could the attacks in this environment really cause me harm? This is absolutely impossible unless this isn’t an illusion.
“Impossible, this is definitely an illusion. There’s nothing wrong with my soul, and the person in the illusion hasn’t changed either. Why is this happening?
“Exactly, where is the problem?”
Anthony roared crazily. He had already hypnotized himself in his heart that this place was an illusion.
He had told himself that everything was fake.
But that attack had landed squarely on his body.
He did not understand.
Why was this happening?
Lugh frowned.
This Anthony was really strong.
He had taken so many attacks but still didn’t die. If it was anyone else, they would have died countless times.
Since that is the case, then let’s continue.
Lugh didn’t say a word and continued to launch all kinds of attacks.
This time, Anthony had to go all out and release his holy shield rune again.
This was the only thing that could block Lugh’s attack. Sure enough, Lugh’s attack was once again blocked by the holy shield.
Lugh pursed his lips.
This holy shield rune was really a turtle shell. How could it not be broken in a fight?
The real body sneaked out of the illusion.
There was no use wasting time in the illusion. What if Anthony exploded on the verge of death and hurt him? For the sake of prudence, it was better to be safe.

“It can still be like this?” Elizabeth was dumbfounded.
What kind of immortal tactic was Lugh using?
Originally, she thought that Anthony had seen through the essence of the illusion and that the situation would become disadvantageous to Lugh. Who knew that Lugh’s wave of attacks switched between reality and illusion? This had stunned Elizabeth.
She really did not know what to say. If this went on…
Anthony was probably not dead yet and would be thoroughly played by Lugh.
It was very likely that he would be lost in reality and illusion.
When he could not distinguish between reality and illusion, then the illusion could bring real damage to Anthony because he had already believed from the bottom of his heart that these attacks would become real attacks. Elizabeth knew that Anthony had no chance of completely reversing the situation.
From the beginning to the end, it had been like a cat catching a mouse.
Everything was under Lugh’s control.
How was he supposed to play?
Moreover, Anthony was seriously injured.
After helping for more than an hour.
An extremely shocking scene appeared.
Anthony was clearly using his runic ability against the air, but from time to time, wounds would appear on his body.
The holy shield runes that wrapped him had shrunk quite a bit, and even the color had dimmed. He was on the verge of collapse.
“I can’t accept this!”
Anthony raised his head to the sky and unwillingly let out a long howl unwillingly.
“My name shook the Simon Empire when I was eight years old. I passed for the Rune Academy at the age of seventeen and passed the student assessment. I also went to the heavenly battlefield and fought with foreign creatures. I’ve killed countless foreign creatures.
“In the future, I’ll be the Emperor of the Simon Empire. How can I stay here? How can I die? I won’t die. I can’t die. I’m not willing to give up. I still have a chance. I can still…
“I want to break your illusion!
“Then I’ll leave this area. When the time comes, I’ll kill you.
“I’ll crush the bones on your body bit by bit and cut off the flesh on your body piece by piece!”
The thought was beautiful.
But the reality was cruel.
Anthony’s rune ability was getting weaker and weaker, much weaker than when it had first appeared.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.

YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and in the process at Amazon et. al.. . To all who wait patiently, offered feedback, thanks again!
