After Xu Yuan finished speaking, she glanced at Ye Tianxin.

“This is?”

“My sister, Tianxin, your junior. I’m taking her around the school.”

Xu Yuan extended her hand with a smile. “Hello, junior. Welcome to Capital University.”

Perhaps it was because she liked Li Qingcang, Ye Tianxin was now full of hostility towards any woman close to or acquainted with Li Qingcang.

“Thank you, Elder Sister Xu.”

Xu Yuan smiled, then said to Li Qingcang, “Senior, fateful encounters are better than appointments. Since we met today, let’s go to the Hunan restaurant behind the school to eat.”

“Don’t be so generous. I have something else to attend to,” Li Qingcang refused.

Li Qingcang didn’t like being too close to other women, especially since he wasn’t in a good mood today. He was a little annoyed when he saw any woman.

“Senior, I want to make the best of our friendship. May I?” Xu Yuan appeared somewhat aggrieved.

Standing in place, Xu Yuan sadly stared at the backs of Li Qingcang and Ye Tianxin as they left.

“Not as pretty as you.”

“Elder Brother Li, when you used to go here, did you often eat at the Hunan restaurant that Elder Sister Xu mentioned?”

“No.”

Li Qingcang’s voice sounded deep like a cello.

“When doing experiments, the professor would occasionally take us there to eat. I went there about three times.”

“How’s the food? Good?” Ye Tianxin asked.

Li Qingcang replied, “Spicy.”

Ye Tianxin and Li Qingcang talked and laughed. In Xu Yuan’s eyes, they appeared so happy. Watching their figures drifting away from a distance, she stood at the balcony on the second floor.

After a while, she turned around and went to the professor’s office.

“Professor, you wouldn’t believe who I just bumped into!” Xu Yuan shared excitedly.

The gray-haired professor took off his glasses, then rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Who?”

“Your proud student Li Qingcang.”

The professor was taken aback, and it took him a long time to answer. “He was so full of potential. How can it be… Nothing… Don’t mention him in front of me.”

When he thought of how after graduation, the promising apprentice who he had cultivated so carefully didn’t venture into the field he studied but joined the army instead, he became overwhelmed with regret.

“Professor, Elder Brother chose to do what he really wanted. You see, Elder Brother has always respected you all these years.”

The professor stood up and said coldly, “If he really respected me, then he would come back.”
