“Alright. I shall wait for your present.”

Li Qingcang’s voice was hoarse and sexy. In the quiet night, it was like a fragrant wine, making one feel heady.

The gentle breeze blew across their faces.

The mild summer night breeze brought dampness and heat.

Ye Tianxin placed her hand in front of her chest. She could hear the sound coming from her chest. It went thump, thump, thump.

Her heart was thumping.

The sound of her heart beating was very clear.

She wondered how long she could hide her feelings from Li Qingcang. She was waiting for the right time to tell him. But when was exactly the right time?

Ye Tianxin and Li Qingcang slowly made their way out of the scenic area.

It was late at night, and the area around the scenic spot was very quiet.

Jing Zhichen had driven them to the spot earlier. They did not have a car to leave right now. Li Qingcang thought that he had been too angry earlier and had not considered this. He took Ye Tianxin’s hand into his own. “Tianxin, I know there is a barbecue stall up in front. It tastes pretty good. I’ll take you there to try it.”

“Okay.”

The barbeque stall was not far away. It was located in the corner of a traditional Chinese courtyard compound.

There was a barbecue rack set-up at the corner of the compound.

People all slept very well in the summer. However, a lot of people were lining up in front of the barbecue stall.

When Li Qingcang and Ye Tianxin arrived, there were no vacant seats.

“Let’s order first. Some people might leave by the time we are done ordering.”

Ye Tianxin stood by the side under the yellow street lamp. She looked captivating and beautiful.

Li Qingcang stood in front of the fridge and picked out some food that Ye Tianxin liked. Then, he got the cook to get him a bowl of pig trotters soup.

The way this stall cooked their pig trotters was different from other stalls. They did not cut their trotters into tiny pieces.

Instead, they chopped them roughly and boiled them until tender.

Li Qingcang held a large bowl. There was only one trotter in the bowl. The soup was white, and there were pieces of spring onion floating on the soup. It looked delicious.

“Tianxin, have some first,” Li Qingcang offered.

He was worried that Ye Tianxin might be hungry as she had gone a long time without eating.

That was why he asked for a bowl of pig trotters soup for Ye Tianxin to warm her stomach.

Ye Tianxin grabbed a small spoon and took a sip of the soup. The soup tasted good and not gamey at all.

“Elder Brother Li, try some,” Ye Tianxin offered. “It’s good.”

Ye Tianxin fed Li Qingcang a spoonful of soup. However, he refused when she moved the spoon to his lips.

“I am not hungry,” Li Qingcang refused politely. “You go eat it.”

“Have a try,” Ye Tianxin insisted.

“Just a spoonful then.”

Li Qingcang eventually agreed. He lowered his head and took a sip of the soup. He did not know if it was because he had not eaten at this stall for a long time, but he thought that the soup tasted much better than before.

“It is pretty good.”

And just like that, a man and a woman stood by the streetlights under a tree as they shared a bowl of soup.

The street lamp shone a dim yellow light on the two.

Moths were fluttering around the street lamp. They were attracted to the light.

Ye Tianxin and Li Qingcang took turns in sipping the soup, and they quickly finished it.

The trotters remained in the bowl.

Li Qingcang was about to get a pair of disposable chopsticks when a waiter told them that there were seats available for them.

It was a tiny table. There were two wooden stools beside the table.

“Hang on, Tianxin.”

Li Qingcang took a tissue from the box on the table. Then, he cleaned the stools and the table with the tissue before letting Ye Tianxin sit down.
