Chasing After My Wife Chapter 73

Jillyanna arrived in her own house together with Travis. She immediately got out of the car and walked ahead of him.
Travis was following behind her with curiosity in his gaze. When he first arrived at this place, when he was looking for her, he didn't observe the kind of environment she was in. Now that he looked around closely, he found it so familiar.
Jillyanna turned around and found him staring at the swing under the mango tree. It was her swing when she was still a child. It was built by her father so she never removed it.
"What are you looking at?" she asked the obvious just to bring him back to the present.
"Your house looks familiar to me. Has this been renovated?" Travis walked to her side while asking her.
"Nope." she simply answered him before opening the door in the main entrance. "I don't want this to be renovated. It looks old but it's sturdy and can last for the next five generations."
"So you will be staying here? You are not coming home with me?" Travis asked her, tailing her wherever she went.
She checked her windows and the backdoor before coming upstairs. After making sure that nothing was changed, she went to the study room.
Jillyanna's eyes dimmed when she saw the books on the table was neatly arranged. "Someone came here."
"How do you know?" he was confused while seeing nothing's wrong with the room. It's not messy and in fact, things were arranged and the floor was cleaned.
She walked to the study table and picked up a ruler. She measured the distance of the piled books from the edge to where it was placed.
"I placed these book 15 inches from the right edge of my table. It's less than 10 inches from the edge now. Aside from that, I didn't put this book together with them but now it's all piled up. Someone came here." she concluded with a smiled but her eyes were dark and turbulent.

"It's not safe here." he stated. "Let's go home for now. I will ask help from someone to keep guard of your place." he added while checking the place for any dangerous things.
"Let me go somewhere first. I just need to check on someone." she walked outside and Travis locked the study room for her.
"Aren't you worried that something might've been taken from the study?"
"Nope. There's nothing important in the study. All my parents belongings were moved to my room in Cielo's house."
"You're really smart. I never thought you'd think way ahead of the people chasing after your mother's research." he commented with a smile as he gave her head a gentle pat. Jillyanna didn't budge or snap at him. She was occupied with something else.
Travis just followed her and would sometimes spoke about his observation on the area. They walked to the right side of the house and he found a narrow path in there with footpaths to step on.
They walked for a minute and arrived at the small house. It was silent but the door was left open.
"Mr. Shan? Uncle Shan?" she called out softly when she was at the door.
Mr. Shan and his wife were looking pale but when they saw Jillyanna, their eyes were back to life and the color in their face came out.
"Oh dear! Oh my Jillyanna. We are so glad you are fine. We were so worried about you." Mrs. Shan hugged her immediately and Jillyanna did the same.
"I'm sorry for causing trouble. Something came up so I wasn't able to leave. Do you know what happened in my house?" she asked, letting her know the purpose of this visit.
"It was last night. I was getting stuff from Jenny's house when I saw a group of men drove to your place. I thought they were acquaintance of yours, but they were armed. They even point their guns at me when they saw me watching them. I ran as fast as I could and they didn't bother themselves following me." Mr. Shan narrated to her what happened. Jillyanna sighed hearing this news.

"Yanna, will you be coming home? I don't intend to intrude in your life or your decisions but, how about you stay in you sister's place or in your apartment? I think those people will come and visit your house again. It would be dangerous for you." Mrs. Shan suggested, thinking for her safety specially the baby that she's carrying in her stomach.
"I'll think of something. Is Jenny alright? I looked at her house when I walked here and it's closed." she mentioned to them while shifting her gaze to the other small house not far from Mr. Shan's place. When she looked back at them, Mr. Shan was staring at Travis.
"Jenny's fine. She left yesterday afternoon to process her enrollment. She'd be back tonight." Mrs. Shan responded to ber inquiry.
"That's good to know." she mumbled while preparing to leave. She didn't really want to introduce Travis to them but Mr. Shan held her back.
"This man looked familiar. Who is he Yanna?" Mr. Shan asked and his gaze never left Travis' face.
Even Travis felt something's wrong with the man. Whenever Jillyanna wasn't looking at him, he would stare directly at him as if he was looking towards his soul.
"This is Travis. He's...he's a friend." she introduced him to the couple. "Travis, this is uncle Enrico Shan and his wife Auntie Lulu. They helped me take care of the house when I am not around."
"Thanks for helping out Jillyanna. I am glad to meet you." Travis shook his hands with them and said some pleasantries but he still stood beside her right after.
"I think I will be out for quite sometimes. If there's anything you need, just tell Jenny about it. You don't have to clean the house or anything, just help me with the flowers. Those are very important to me."
"No problem sweetheart. You take care of yourself, too." Mrs. Shan stated.
They talked for few more minutes before Travis and Jillyanna turned around and left. It was then that Cielo, Savannah and Hawk arrived.
