Chasing After My Wife Chapter 61

"My mom sacrificed herself for you. She made sure that you will live even if she has to suffer. She never wanted to hurt but most of all, she never wanted to see you fail just because of her. Is this really what you want? Do you really want to fail her?" Jillyanna spoke in a melancholic tone. It was her mother that caused her to be in this situation so she had to use her mother to get herself out of the predicament.
Enzo was still weeping beside her. He looked so broken and devastated. His hair was disheveled and his clothes were wrinkled.
Honestly, she twisted some of her words to make him feel guilty. Enzo's mindset was somehow stuck in the past. His mind would lean on between the past and present. He would sometimes see her as her mother or as Jillyanna.
She placed her bet on her mother. She knew that he would not make a move against her if she talks about her mom.
"She didn't really have to sacrifice herself. I could have proven to her father that I am worthy. Why didn't she tell me?" Enzo questioned her with so much pain. There was regret in his eyes and self loathing. "Why was I poor? Why?"
Jillyanna couldn't bring herself to answer him. She didn't know why her mother didn't wait for him or why he was born poor. How could she answer that?
"I am not hungry anymore. Would you like to talk?" she suggested as she crawled to the other end of the bed, to protect herself in case he would change his mind and harm her.
Enzo didn't move or look at her. He stayed where he was and wiped his tears.
"Do you think your mother ever thought of talking to me? Did she even want to see me?" Even though he wiped his tears, new ones kept on falling on his face.

"She did. Actually, she would often visit your neighborhood and would watch you from afar. There were nights she would cry while calling out your name. When I was young, I was wondering why she would wanted to watch you from somewhere. Now that I think about it, she may have been guilty for leaving you."
"I'm sorry." He looked so helpless and so pitiful.
"You don't have to say sorry. My mom would be glad since you came to protect me." Jillyanna stated with a smile. 'Sorry mom, I have to use you for my protection.' she apologized mentally to her late mother.
Since she didn't have anything to do, she rummaged on her bag and found the rest of her things aside from her phone.
"I threw your phone."
"I see. Well, I don't think there would be enough batter with that if you didn't throw it." she responded while still looking inside her bag.
She found the gift box that she asked Jenny to get from her apartment. It was the one that Travis gave her. She planned to return it but it looks like it wouldn't happen soon.
"I once gave your mom a gift. It took me three months to save for that just so I could give something on her birthday." Enzo stated while reminiscing about the past.
"Was it the silver bracelet with EL carvings?"
"Yeah. She kept it?" There was a bit of joy on his voice but his smile was faint.
"She kept it. Even when she didn't wear it, she would always bring it with her." It was a half lie statement.
She saw her mother kept it inside the box and place it on her bedside table but, she never wear it. The only jewelry she ever remembered her mother wore was the necklace that her father gave.

When her mother died, she was holding on to that necklace tightly. Sad to say, her father never knew how important he was to her mother.
"I am happy to know that."
"Would you like to get it. You can keep it as memento. After all my mother really loved you." she made sure to use the past form of love. If her mother is still alive, she will only love her father for the rest of her life. So past should remain in the past.
Enzo didn't speak regarding the bracelet anymore. He was sitting silently while fiddling on his fingers.
Jillyanna took out the bracelet from the box and looked at it for a while. 'You're the only one I have now. I can actually give you to my child in the future.' she noted mentally as she caressed the jewelry in her hand.
Since she still needed to wait for Enzo to change his mind, she decided to wear the bracelet.
"I am sleepy now. Will you let me sleep for a while? That idiot man you had really disturbed my sleep." she complained to him. She arranged her pillows and went under the thick quilt to sleep.
Even though Enzo's emotions were not stable, he won't hurt her. The reason was his guilt for her mother. He won't do anything to her and most likely, she would be sent back to her house tomorrow.
Enzo didn't mind that she's going to sleep. He cleaned the table and brought out the dishes on a tray. After making sure everything's alright, he went out and locked the cabin behind him.
Jillyanna was fine being left alone. She held on to the bracelet and closed her eyes to sleep.
Without anyone's notice, the heart shaped pendant on the bracelet blinked twice with a very faint light.
On the other end of the city, several police officers got ready for a possible battle. They had been checking the neighborhood for any suspicious activity but there was none.
They asked some civilians if they noticed something but there was none. They felt a bit hopeless until Travis got a notification on his phone.
PULSE ACTIVATED. LOCATION DETECTED. BREATHING AND HEART RATE ARE NORMAL. TRACKING DEVICE WILL NOW CHANGE TO SLEEP MODE.
It was the robotic report he had been waiting for over a month now. He never expected it would come in handy. A smile was formed on his lips.
"What's so funny?" Valkyrie asked after seeing his expression.
"She's wearing my gift right now. Prepare your men Lucian. I know where she is already." Travis spoke to Lucian through his earphone.

The Legend of Fanaura: Cursed
'Hey, need some help there?' An unfamiliar voice echoed through her mind, and she startled, losing her grip on the red phial. It rolled through the grass, away from her. "Oh shoot!" she yelped, and her focus diverted from her opponent for a split second, but it was enough to prove fatal. The beast took advantage of her distraction and lunged towards her. She raised her arms to cover her head, even if she knew it was futile. Yet seconds passed, and no pain came. Then she heard the beast let out a pained yelp. She opened her eyes to the familiar sounds of battle before her. A tall man stood before her, locked in battle with the beast. He wielded a sword as long as his height, yet it didn't seem to hinder him in the slightest. She watched in awe as he swung the obviously heavy sword around as if it were light as a feather. His movements were swift and precise, and it didn't take long before the beast fell to the ground, motionless. “You alright there, miss?” The man sheathed his sword across his back, before turning to her. Her eyes widened when she heard his voice. It was the same voice who had that had spoken into her mind and the cause of her almost-fatal distraction.
