Chasing After My Wife Chapter 31

Travis was silenced by her questions but Jillyanna didn't care about it that much. She continued eating as if she didn't put him on a hot seat.
Travis clasped his hands together and placed it on the table just beside his plate. He looked at her seriously, devoid of emotions but his eyes were dark and penetrating. It made her feel like he was looking directly at her soul.
After a few minutes of staring, he spoke to her. "Would you think I'm weird if I say it's because of your name and scent?"
Jillyanna was stunned with his answer. She never expected those words to come out of his mouth. But it was an honest statement.
"So you like me because of my name? You have someone you like with the same name as mine?" She stated directly to the point.
Many people said that she's frank and straightforward - that's actually true. She didn't like those people who take some roundabout route when it comes to question and answer.
"I had. It was a long time ago. I don't even know where she is now. But I know that she hates me the most." Travis answered truthfully. He thought that it would be best to be honest. There's no point in lying anyway.
"So, you haven't forgotten her which is why you like me. I don't want to be a second option, Travis. Well, you've got a month to go if you want to continue. At the same time, my line is always open once you think it's better to stop this." Jillyanna responded to him calmly. It's been bugging him for a long time, the calmness she evoked when it comes to this topic. Sometimes, she's emotionless.
"Have you fallen in love?" Travis asked her directly. "Did someone hurt you in the past?"

"Uh huh. I think he was just being honest with me. Though it hurts me so much, I take it as a lesson. But, there are some things that's bound to change. That pain he gave me, it changed me to who I am now and I am happy with that. I don't need to rely on anyone." Jillyanna was looking at him but Travis felt that she was so distant. There was pain in her eyes, fleeting emotions that he still caught in her eyes.
'That must be her first love. What a jerk!' Travis cursed mentally but he kept a poker face to her.
"I think we should bury things in the past. We need to think of the present and future. You and me. Maybe we could really be something wonderful. Why don't you give it a try with me?"
"After a month. That's when we decide. That is if you can still hold on." Jillyanna chuckled and continued to eat once again.
Travis also picked up his utensils once again and continued to eat as if their solemn and melodramatic conversation didn't happen.
It was another step for them. Well, for Travis it was another step for their relationship. He thought about so many things before meeting her. In the end, he decided to let go of his past and focus on his present.
What's bound to happen will happen. Nobody can predict the works of fate.
When they finished their dinner, it was past 10 o'clock already. They got out of the restaurant and Travis walked her to her car.
"You told me you like me for my name and scent. What's this got to do my scent?" Jillyanna asked when they reached her car. Instead of opening the door, she leaned on the car hood beside him.

Travis glanced at her then looked up at the sky before answering. "The first time I met you, I didn't see your face but I caught a whiff of your scent. I don't know if it's your perfume or what but it gives me a familiar feeling that I can't point out."
"You are indeed weird." Jillyanna laughed faintly at him. Travis let out a low chuckle while taking a glance at her from time to time.
"Thank you for having dinner with me." he spoke to her softly.
"Thanks for helping me with my work." Jillyanna also expressed her gratitude to him.
If possible, Travis want to stop the time and just stay with her but fate wasn't really helping him.
Jillyanna whipped her head abruptly and looked around her. Travis also felt that someone had been watching them.
"Is something wrong?" Travis asked her to confirm his guess.
"I just feel that someone's been following me lately." Jillyanna confessed to him without any care.
"How about I send you home? It's better to be safe than sorry. I can't have you take a risk with your life at stake." Travis suggested which was actually a good idea.
Although, she didn't want him to know where she live, she didn't want to put her life at risk as well, specially that Lucian wasn't allowing her to use a gun.
"Sorry for troubling you." Jillyanna looked at him sincerely for the first time. She was really indebted to him again, this time with her life.
"It's not a problem. Let's take my car. You can ask someone to drive the car back tomorrow." It wasn't intentional and it wasn't really what he wanted to do. However, he wanted to keep her safe.
Travis put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to him. Jillyanna ducked her head a little to hide her face from everyone and Travis had his other arm cover her head. She didn't mind it at all.
He looked around them as they walked towards his car which was parked few meters from where her car was.
Travis opened the door for her and let her slipped inside and took a seat. Jillyanna fastened her seatbelt while watching Travis walked towards the driver's seat.
"How long have you been stalked?" Travis asked when he got inside. He inserted his key and turned on the engine of his car.
"Since I was in college, I felt someone had been following me. It stopped when I was out of the country. It happened again recently after I came back." Jillyanna answered truthfully. Even if it's something private or personal to her, she didn't mind telling him. She didn't want to die, yet. Not yet.
"Any enemies?" Travis asked again when they're out on a highway. There were just few cars passing by since it's already late at night.
"I don't remember anyone. I'm a good girl okay." Jillyanna rolled her eyes at him, but she was thankful that there's someone beside her in this situation.
"Alright, whatever it is you say. So, where should I send you?" Travis inquired when they need to choose a path of either right or left turn. Jillyanna gave him her address which made him frown.
'She's mysterious.'
