As anyone would expect, she was here to ask Lu Aotian to let Amy off. She had been invited as a guest but this was the only reason why she came. In her mind, Amy should not have been punished.

On account that the Blanc and Lu families had been allies for decades, and Henry Blanc and he could be considered best friends, he should forgive Amy's ignorance, right?

It was useless to talk her out of it, she may as well go ahead and Lu Aotian's ruthless answer would be the one to make her give up.

Mrs. Blanc took two glasses of wine and went towards Lu Aotian. The man turned and looked at her.

Nervously, she gave one glass to him. "I have not made a toast to you yet."

Lu Aotian knew that there was another intention hidden in those eyes, and he could basically guess what it was, but he took the glass. "Aunty, if you have anything to say, you can say it." Since he was going to disappoint her, he should at least save her time and effort.

Mrs. Blanc gathered her courage and spoke. "About what Amy did…

That child is very ignorant and often does things without thinking about the consequences. It was her fault this time and ours too for not bringing her up well enough. Could you let her off this once?"

Lu Aotian put the wineglass down, his face expressionless. Mrs. Blanc forced her heart to remain hopeful. Who knows, he might agree?

She had just finished having small talk with someone and was speaking to another woman who was wearing a maroon gown and when Mrs. Blanc saw the other woman's face, she sighed in relief. Her Lihua was here too. It was going to be even easier.

She went over and offered Wan Jia a drink, which she rejected politely. Lin Lihua took it on her behalf. Since Wan Jia did not mention why she could not drink, Lin Lihua remained silent about it.

"Aunty, I'm glad to see you here." Lin Lihua said. She had not expected her future mother-in-law to come, considering she was worried about her daughter.

Mrs. Blanc knew that Wan Jia was probably busy and many people were seeking her out. This was probably her only chance. "Are the both of you too busy? Can I speak to you?"

Wan Jia shook her head. "We are only having a breather."

Lin Lihua had guessed what it was about by now but Mrs. Blanc still went ahead. "Could you speak to President Lu? Could you ask him to let my daughter off?"

Wan Jia did not wish to get involved. She, too, had initially thought that Amy Blanc was a nice person. Since her brother-in-law had decided to handle the matter this way, who was she to interfere? "I'm sorry Madam Blanc, but I have no say in this."

"I know. But your husband would listen to you, wouldn't he?" She insisted

Wan Jia understood that Mrs. Blanc was a mother and would do anything for her daughter, but she was a mother too and would do anything for hers. "I'm sorry. I will not bother my husband with such trivial matters."
