On the other hand, Su Ling went to a drugs store after getting off work.

She looked at the middle aged lady at the counter awkwardly. "Aunty, I'd like to buy a morning after pill. The kind whose effect lasts for seventy two hours."

They had not used protection the previous night. Since her cycle was irregular, she wasn't able to tell whether she was safe or not. As for the medical report that declared her unable to concieve, it only stated that her chances of doing so were quite low. The only way to be sure that she wouldn't get pregnant was this.

The middle aged woman gave her a box with a pill in it. Su Ling paid for it and swallowed it using the mineral water she had bought on her way, all while ignoring the awkward feeling she was having.

Actually, it was not that she didn't want to get pregnant. In fact, the chances of that happening were so low that she wished it would happen.

However, she knew that Lu Shaoting would not want to have a child before marriage. It wouldn't be nice if they had a shotgun wedding because she suddenly got pregnant. Lu Shaoting might not care, but it might stain the reputation of the Lu family.

"That would be great."

"Have you had dinner yet?"

"I have. But it was terribly tasteless."

Lu Shaoting furrowed his brows. "I'll fire that chef and hire a new one. How dare she cook tasteless food for my wife?"

Su Ling's heart warmed at his doting words. "It's not her fault. It's because a secret ingredient was missing." She paused shyly. "You. Everything is tasteless if you're not eating it with me."

Lu Shaoting suddenly felt embarassed. Should she thank her for the compliment? Since when did his Su Ling start acting spoilt?

Wan Jia had dinner at the Lin residence. Although she thought that her mother had invited her over the previous day because she had something to say, Xia Rou didn't look like she was going to say anything.

Wan Jia was caught unprepared by this sudden invitation. All her life, she had never spent a night in her real home.

Lin Lihua thought it was a good idea too. " You don't have to prepare a room. My little sister can sleep in my room tonight." She wanted Wan Jia to stay over, but how could a member of the Lin family sleep in a guest room? They should prepare a room specifically for her later.

This was unbelievable. Since they adopted Lin Lihua, she would want to sleep in her mother's bed once in a while and Xia Rou would always accomodate her. Perhaps it was because she was fearful and insecure after the loss of her biological parents as a child. She only stopped sticking onto Xia Rou when she was finally convinced that the Lin family was not going to abandon her.

Still, those years had made him, the abandoned consort, get bullied. Was it going to happen again? Most importantly, wasn't Wan Jia already too old for this?

The three women laughed at him. He looked so defeated.

"I was just joking. I'll sleep with sister." Wan Jia said. She had just said that to know Lin Zhou's actual thought about her staying the night.
