A week later, Tyler practically rushed back home. He knew that his wife would probably ask him a barrage of questions but he was not scared of them. Their answers were overdue. He should have come clean with her months ago.

Sure enough, when he arrived, she chooked for him and as soon as he finished eating, she looked at him with a face full of questions.

He knew she looked like she was on the verge of leaving him.

But he was lucky that he had already locked her down. No matter how many times she asked for it, he would never agree to a divorce. She was his wife for a lifetime.

"Darling, you have many questions to ask, right?" the fact that they were married gave him a boost of confidence and he pulled her to sit beside him.

Yun Xuan did not mince on her words. She had waited for so long. "Tell me, how do you know Qin Zhifan?"

Tyler gulped. So she had seen him. That dumb and careless man!

She asked again, "Is he your brother?"

To that, he shook his head. "No."

Well, it was not a lie. They were cousins, not brothers."

Yun Xuan's expression turned warmer. "I thought you were brothers because you share a surname. It's good if you are not."

"He's my cousin." he said. For a moment, he almost decided to hide the truth from her but he couldn't bear to keep her in the dark anymore.

"What?"

"If it's not too much to take in, I will tell you everything once and for all." he looked serious.

Yun Xuan did not know what she wanted. Why did he look like the so called everything was hard to bear? However, there wouldn't be any other chance.

"Tell me." she said decisevely.

Tyler made sure she was close enough to him so she wouldn't faint out of shock. Then his narration began.

"My father was killed because he was investigating someone."

"You told me about that."

"Yes. I didn't tell you this before. That man suffered from a mild mental disorder. I don't know which one exactly it is. He kept it a secret and refused to seek help. It's rather cruel but such a person can't be prosecuted by the law if he commited a crime.

My father wanted to prove his mental condition and let him be sent to an assylum for treatment because he was dangerous.

However that man...was too careful. He knew that if anyone found out about his condition, he would lose the position he is so proud of and be forced to undergo treatment.

He did undergo private treatment...but when he found out that my father was spying on him, he killed him. He literally used his own dagger to stab him in the heart."

"What?" Yun Xuan found it sudden and shocking. She knew that his parents had died because of this but it was still too cruel.

"My mother later found out that...when that man killed my father, he had already been declared sane. He should have payed for his crime.

Before she could bring the matter to court, however, I found her dead in her bedroom. Never mind that he killed my father. What wrong had my mother done? She was a kind woman who knew nothing but to love. He had to do it so cruelly that as a little boy, I had nightmares about it for half my life."

"That's why I left my home. Grandma Wang took care of me. I couldn't go to my relatives because I was scared. They would be killed too." Unknowingly, tears were rolling down Yun Xuan's cheeks. He was still just a naïve little boy. It must have been so hard on him.

"When I grew up, all I wanted was to complete the task my parents couldn't. I completed my studies in country I and joined the Intelligence Unit."

Yun Xuan raised an eyebrow. Qin Zhifan? Was that where she came into the story?

"That's right. The man who killed my parents is Yun Wei, your father."

He disregarded her shock to continue. "My relatives didn't know who had killed my parents before. In fact, I was the only one who knew. Because I read my mother's diary. She had noted everything down in detail after my father died."

"When I told my cousin about it, he wanted to kill you for revenge. You are dear to your father, aren't you?"

Yun Xuan now half understood the situation. No wonder Qin Zhifan suddenly blurted out some nonesense and wanted to kill her.

"I told him not to do it. I wanted to kill you myself. I wanted to let him watch you die before I kill him as well. The person to let me know how to get him would be you."

Yun Xuan felt her blood run cold. Was it really Tyler that was saying such scary things?

"When you saved me from Zhifan's fire..."

"Oh, that was just my way of meeting you. The hero saving the beauty: always works each time, right?"

He skipped some of the scary details.

"I don't know when it happened but with time, I couldn't bear to see you in pain, much less hurt you with my own hands. That is why I decided to try to bring your father to justice instead of killing him."
