Yun Xuan froze. Being caught going through someone's private belongings is perhaps the worst thing on earth.

Yun Jifeng was standing at the door. She could not tell how much he had seen. If her brother found out that she knew about his fake passport, wouldn't things get ugly?

But, it was possible that he didn't see what she was holding just now. She decided to take a gamble.

She turned looked down for a couple of seconds and when she turned to face him, her eyes were a little wet. "Old Two, I'm sorry I had to do this." she looked at him pitifully. She bit her lips hard but...these d*mn tears! Why won't they fall? Yun Jifeng would never stand seeing her cry.

Yun Jifeng make his way closer to her. "I see. What were you looking for?"

"The household register. I don't know where Dad hid it. I want to get married! If I don't, who knows if a scheming woman will steal Tyler from me?"

Yun Jifeng found her reason a little plausible, but how would she explain sneaking into his room? How did she even know there was a safe to begin with?

When he asked, her answer was, "There is a safe on the wall of Dad's room. It took me very many years to know it exists so I thought there might be something similar in your room too, and there was." Well, you taught me to make things up and tell perfect lies, she thought.

Luckily, Yun Jifeng seemed to believe her. After all he couldn't go to the master bedroom. What she did not know, however, was that that one statement of hers would one day be the one sow the greatest form of discord between her and her brother.

When she left his room, she was thinking that she had to find someone to investigate her second brother to the bones. Perhaps Tyler could help?

That day, the Yun family was not the only one having a fall out. Elsewhere in the city, Lu Shaoting was trying to call Su Ling but the latter kept ignoring his calls.

At first, he thought that she was busy but when she ignored him all week and didn't reply to his messages despite reading them even on saturday, he began wondering what he had done wrong. So he bravely went to her apartment.

"Why have you been ignoring me?" He asked when she opened the door.

"Well, hello to you too."

Lu Shaoting scratched his head. "Forgive my manners, I was very worried about you."

"You have time to worry about me?" she sounded very sarcastic.

"Of course I was worried. Wouldn't you be worried if you couldn't talk to me for all those days? Aren't you going to invite me in?"

Su Ling moved away from the door. "Do I have a choice?"

He ignored her hostility and gave her the two roses he had been hiding behind his back.

"I don't like roses." she said.

"Last week I sent you a bouquet of them and you said that you loved it."

She looked away. "I just didn't want to waste your effort."

Lu Shaoting was annoyed. Why was she throwing a tantrum? "What happened?"

Su Ling remained silent for a long while and only answered when he was about to ask again. "I think it would be best if you kept your distance."

"Kept what distance?"

Su Ling did not know what to say. He was not her boyfriend and she had no right to feel jealous seeing him with another woman. She did not wish to be a third party in someone else's relationship so it would be best to stay away from him.

She knew that she might be overthinking their friendship. After all, all Lu Shaoting ever did was buy her presents and treat her to meals. Perhaps she had read too much into a certain joke of his about her and Wan Jia being his and his brother's wives. Apart from that, he had never mentioned liking her and always treated her respectfully. It was her fault for mistaking his actions for love.

Lu Shaoting had never dealt with such a situation and didn't know how to handle it. "You're not going to explain?" There was a tinge of impatience in his voice.

Su Ling frowned. "I do not wish to make your girlfriend misunderstand our relationship, so I decided to keep my distance."

Lu Shaoting was surprised. "What nonesense are you spouting? Since when do I have a girlfriend?"

"You know that better than I do." She saw Lu Shaoting's confused look and continued, "You were on a date with her last weekend, weren't you?"

Lu Shaoting finally understood. She must be talking about when he went on a blind date with Yan Xue. But how on earth did she know? "Su Ling, that was a blind date. I'm sorry for not telling you but I didn't want to go either. My father forced me."

"Why should I believe you?"

"Because I like you." Lu Shaoting made a desperate move.

Su Ling thought about the woman she had seen. She was very beautiful and from the clothes she was wearing, she must be some wealthy family's young miss. How could she compare? She sighed and looked at Lu Shaoting. "I don't like you."
