Su Ling smiled even wider. "I knew you'd like it. I used a secret spice."

Lu Shaoting: "..." Can you not use it anymore? He painfully ate a few more pieces and tried the other dishes. There were four dishes and a herbal soup and all of them were....haih! Sure enough, not every woman has good cooking skills like his sister-in-law.

He changed the topic. "You're not eating?"

"I'm not feeling hungry but I can..." she took a piece of meat and put it into her mouth..."urgh...!"

Lu Shaoting wanted to laugh out loud. Su Ling's expression was like she had eaten something extremely hideous. She couldn't even swallow it and ran out.

She came back looking at Lu Shaoting in disbelief. "How can you eat such a thing?"

"You cooked it, so it tastes nice." he did not want her to feel embarassed.

"Tastes nice? You are definitely out of your mind. I'll order take out." She instantly cleared the table with a frown.

Lu Shaoting laughed at her expression that looked like she was the one who had been wronged.

After ordering take out, she sat on the sofa a decent distance away from him.

"You can't cook?" Lu Shaoting teased.

She looked wronged. "I really can't. Even if I put in my best effort, it will only be barely edible. Today you were coming so..."

She didn't need to finish her statement for him to understand. She wanted to cook for him and did her best hoping it would be passable.

Su Ling chuckled. "Am I really a woman? I'm not beautiful, not intelligent, don't have a nice sense of style and on top of it all, I don't even know how to cook!"

Lu Shaoting found her adorable. "Don't say that about yourself. I think you are pretty. I don't know about your intelligence yet but who needs to know how to cook? You can always hire a chef."

Like I have the money. Su Ling said inwardly.

The take out arrived and as they ate, Su Ling realized that it was long past lunch time.

"You don't have to go to work?" she asked him.

"No." he replied. "I took the day off."

She peeked at him. "Why does your expression look so pained at the mention of work? Are you having too much trouble?"

"Yeah. Apparently, I blanked out in the morning meeting and got into President Lu's bad books."

"He didn't bully you, right? He's your brother after all."

Lu Shaoting looked even more pained. "Brother? Oh yes, he is. That ruthless person asked me to do a proposal before tomorrow morning and forbade everyone from telling me anything. I don't even know what kind of proposal I am doing."

"So ruthless..." Su Ling held her mouth. She really wanted to laugh but at the same time, she felt that Lu Shaoting had been treated unjustly. "Shouldn't you be using this time to do it?"

"I wouldn't get anything useful even if I did. I'll just wait for him to deduct my monthly bonus for a year."

Su Ling felt bad. He couldn't have blanked out because she sent him a text, right? Who was she kidding? Why would such a man be affected by her?
