For the next couple of days, Lin Lihua continued calling Wan Jia to go shopping, movies, hiking or for meals. Even if Wan Jia was a total idiot, by now she would have realized that Lin Lihua's attitude towards her was quite unusual.

Thus, that afternoon when they were muching on snacks at her apartment, she decided to ask her about it.

"Sis Lihua, may I ask..."

Lin Lihua tensed up a bit but forced a smile. "You can ask me anything."

"Don't you have very many friends?" She was referring to the first time when she was brought to Lin Lihua's apartment and found at least five girls fawning over her.

Lin Lihua didn't find anything suspicious about this question. "I think it's quite normal, I'm a celebrity after all. Naturally, I would have more friends than most people." She looked at Wan Jia who looked like she was thinking hard. "Why do you ask?"

"That...it seems to me like you're deliberately trying to get close to me." She said frankly.

Lin Lihua suddenly chocked on what she was chewing and coughed profusely. Damn it! She had been too obsessed with trying to make her keep her distance from Yun Xuan that she forgot to be cautious.

"Sis Lihua, are you alright?" Why was she so shocked?

Lin Lihua conveniently brought out her superb acting skills and looked sad. "I'm indeed trying to get close to you..."

Wan Jia frowned. "Why would you even...why me?"

She looked even sadder and embarassed. "Little Wan, you don't know but all those girls you see littering themselves around me are not really my friends. I mean, they really are my friends, but they are not true to me. Let's just say...they're friends of my fame and status."

Wan Jia felt her heart ache when she saw how depressed she looked. "So you don't have any real friends?"

"I indeed don't." She dramatically looked down. "I just felt you are a truthful person and wanted to befriend you. I didn't know it bothered you so much. I'm so sorry..."

Wan Jia felt even more hurt seeing the proud lady fly into waves of apology. "It...doesn't really bother me. It just...felt weird."

It was indeed weird. As an adult of her age, did she really not have any friends? Not even a single person she trusted? She couldn't help but ask curiously, "You don't trust anyone? Not even..."

"I do trust two people, my parents." She secretly thanked heavens for this golden opportunity to put in a few good words for their mother. "My mother is especially too kind and loving, she spoils me like a treasure too. She's my best friend."

Wan Jia felt envious of her. To be able to talk about her mother's kindness so proudly, she was so lucky. What about her? Her own mother did not want her.

Lin Lihua obviously detected the envy in her eyes and secretly smiled. If she knew that the woman she was feeling jealous over is her mother too, how happy would she be?

She was going to ask if Wan Jia was willing to be her friend when the latter's phone rang. She laughed at the caller ID. Handsome Lu? What kind of ID was that?

"Miss me already? Am I that beautiful?" Wan Jia teased.

"Who misses you? Work is just so boring that I found an excuse to call you." The other party grumbled.

"Isn't that what it means to miss someone?"

"Fine. I miss you. When will you remember I exist? You've been going out with your new friend so often and forgot about me." The abandoned consort complained unhappily.

"Oh, come on. How could I forget about my beloved? Would I even be able to breath?"

Lu Aotian sounded obviously happy when he recieved such high praise and hung up after making her agree to be home for dinner.

"You and your husband are truly loving towards each other. How long have you been married?" Lin Lihua commented after being forced to witness a brutal public display of affection.

"Actually, we're not yet married. We're engaged." She said shyly.

"And he already spoils you so much?"

"Which part of him spoils me? He's obviously a bully." She pursed her cute lips.

"You should be glad you have a loving man to 'bully' you." If that was bullying, she would also love to be bullied.

Wan Jia became curious. "You..." she didn't know how to ask her question and blushed.

Lin Lihua laughed. "You want to ask if I don't have a boyfriend?"

"Mmh."

"I indeed don't." she said indifferently. "I never fancied any man; my standards are too high. Sigh, I guess I'll die as an old maiden." she joked.

"Sis Lihua, how can you call yourself an old maiden? You're still so young and so good looking. You'll definitely find a man you like."

Lin Lihua looked troubled. "But almost all the thirty year olds I know are married with at least one kid."

"Thirty?!" Wan Jia was puzzled.

Lin Lihua glanced at her shocked face as if she had heard something outrageous. "How old did you think I am?"

"Twenty five at most."

"Pfft...if I were that young, wouldn't you be a teenager?"

Wan Jia looked at the delicate woman beside her. Was she perhaps aging backwards? In fact twenty five sounded too old for her. She looked so young. Just how well had she maintained her skin and body? She was even slightly older than Lu Aotian!
