However, his earlier presence filled her heart with warmth and peace. All her tension and uncertainty vanished, replacing them with joy and excitement.

Brina entered the interview room and the panel members couldn't help but appreciate her professionalism.

She is so calm and her face is serene and indifferent, yet, polite and humble.

She is dressed perfectly and the way she carried herself, her body language… She is just so impressive to harbour any bad impression.

The next minute, everyone could vouch that she could be a perfect candidate for the job.

If this was the annual recruitment time, she would have surely gotten selected to a higher position in the company.

However, this sudden recruitment is for the special team that is going to work on a new project.

The main branch has ordered the selection of new people and they also informed them that this new project will be taken care of by the people from the main branch itself.

So, it is unpredictable on what basis the team members would be selected. And, Charlotte, the person who arrived here from the main branch would select the employee's.

But, little they know that Louis, their new CEO, is behind all this. As most of the employees in the company haven't met him yet, they don't know what their new CEO looks like.

So, they ended up thinking Louis, Calvin, and Charlotte as the people who are sent from the main branch directly to take a look after this new project.

And, there is nothing called a new project either. It is just a fake reason to open the recruitment so that Louis can get Brina into the company.

As Charlotte is the person in lead, she took the initiative to interview Brina.

"Miss Parker, let's start with normal stuff." Charlotte said.

Brina nodded her head and smiled.

Looking at Charlotte, she instantly remembered someone she used to cherish in her past.

Her best friend in university.

'See, see… Our crush is smiling at me.' Charlotte thought but quickly recomposed herself.

"So, Brina Parker, you have pursued your studies in a management school too. That's quite impressive but I was wondering why you still opted to work in the technical side." She asked, acting indifferent.

She is actually suspicious why her university's name is not mentioned. Many universities don't reveal their students and alumni's information.

Is Brina from one of those institutes?

If she is, then she must be someone from a formidable background. Those universities are very difficult to enter and it takes both their intelligence and background to enter into those.

Or, it simply could be nothing. Some people don't like to mention any extra degrees. As she came here for a technical job, management degrees don't help her much, unless she likes to work in a higher circle. Which, Brina is against.

So, she just mentioned that she has some familiarity in management and left the other blanks unfilled. Although it isn't suspicious and many people do that, for Charlotte, even a slightest topic related to Brina is utmost important.

Brina gave a polite smile and said, "I prefer the technical side rather than management. Anyway, I had my graduation in the technical side too,"

"That's good to hear, Miss Parker. Could you tell me about your family?" Charlotte asked.

She is curious to know more about Brina. Even Louis would feel great to know her. However, she can't go too deep into the topic.

"My parents are dead. I would prefer to not talk about the rest of my family." Brina answered, cutting short.

Brina doesn't like to talk about her maternal family and also paternal family.

What if she loses her cool and composed self by thinking about them? She might even lose her opportunity to get this job.

So, it's better not to dwell on that dangerous topic which could play with her emotions.

"We are really sorry to hear that, Miss Parker. Why don't we skip to the technical round then." another person right away spoke.

He could see that she is not interested in talking about her personal information and she is feeling quite uncomfortable with it.

Charlotte couldn't help but stop and inquisition and could only nod her head. She knew she was quite nosy and it is not professional to do so.

So, all she could do was wonder inside her head.

'Looks like Brain is not as strong and happy as she appears to be. There must be some reason for that.' Charlotte thought.

The interview went well. After half an hour, Brina came out. She is confident that she will get the job.

Charlotte was really cool and the people inside were also friendly.

It would be good if she got into this company.

"How did it go?" Hailey asked as soon as Brina returned back.

Brina smiled, "It went well. Good luck to you." She told and sat down.

After Hailey, there are five more persons and after that the results will be instantly out.

Depending upon the scores the interviews gave, the top six will be selected.

Brina couldn't help but look around again. She wanted to see Louis now and tell him that she did well.

As much as she is excited to work here, she is even happier that she can see him more often.

The feelings she is currently having for him now, she never felt in this way.

Not even when she had her first love! Not even when she got engaged….

Yet, it totally frightened her. What if she gets hurt all again?

She has gone through enough and it took her years of effort to close those wounds.

She doesn't want to go through the same again...

As Brina thought about this, she shivered slightly and pursed her lips. Suddenly, she started feeling chilly and she couldn't help but tremble. Her past is that scary...

'I better go and have some coffee to calm myself.' Brina thought, diverting her mind from those negative thoughts, she made her way to the cafeteria.

Louis who had a meeting is already off to the conference hall and asked Calvin to look after Brina.

He doesn't want anything to happen and lose the chance to have her in his company.

As he couldn't help but feel like seeing her, he just came down half an hour before and gave her a smile before going away.

Brina ordered herself a strong cappuccino and sat down at the farthest and empty table. She was about to get busy surfing in her phone, when Calvin walked to her.

"Could I join you, miss? Only if you don't mind." He casually asked.

He just wanted to meet the girl who stole his best friend/crush's heart.
