Chapter 55 – Exams

“A monthly exam?”

“Yeah, but you don’t have to worry- it’ll be easy,” Fu Lihua bit her apple and explained to Chen Daiyu the school exam system. 

Chen Daiyu thought about it for a second and asked Fu Lihua where the library was. 

“Why would you study for something as easy as that? I heard that you scored perfectly on your entrance exam?” Fu Lihua stared at Chen Daiyu with confusion etched on her face. No one had taken an entrance exam before, so Chen Daiyu would probably be the first and last one to score perfectly on it. 

Chen Daiyu didn’t mind her, she would only be collecting general knowledge.

She didn’t need excessive scores on her head, she only needed to pass. 

After she ate, she asked the uninterested Fu Lihua for directions and went alone to her destination. With her excellent sense of direction, she found the library in no time.

When she entered she caught the attention of the librarian who gave her an unfriendly stare, probably expecting her to cause ruckus. Fortunately, she only got an unfriendly stare.

There were only a few people inside, mostly 5th graders or 6th graders. 

She quickly found the 1st graders’ books, all them looked new but they were squeaky clean. She could see how tidy the librarian was.

Picking some books, she read quietly. The atmosphere in the library was so tranquil that the other children were even more motivated to study reason.

While reading, someone tapped her on the shoulder, tearing her attention away from the book. When she looked up, she saw someone she didn’t expect to see. He smiled foolishly at her.

“Shanxi- i mean, big brother Shanxi! You study here too?” Chen Daiyu was delighted to see him. Huo Shanxi put a finger on his mouth indicating to be quiet, fortunately no one minded the small noise. Chen Daiyu understood and nodded.

“Big brother Shanxi, how have you been. Are you still sick?” When Huo Shanxi sat beside her, she bombarded him with questions. She reached out her hand to his forehead to feel his temperature.

Seeing her worried expression, Huo Shanxi felt happiness all over his body. He smiled foolishly and consoled Chen Daiyu.

From then on, after eating lunch, they would study together in the library. Catching the attention of the people in the library, they were both beautiful. When they were studying, their focused expressions were like pieces of art. Many would come to the library just to have a glimpse of them.

The monthly exams came and went in no time, Chen Daiyu scored barely above the passing score.

It surprised Fu Lihua, who was the top scorer. She worriedly looked at Chen Daiyu, thinking that if her parents were strict, they would spank her when she got home. 

In contrast to Fu Lihua’s expectations, Chen Daiyu smiled like she was relieved. She even offered to send Fu Lihua home since their houses were in the same direction anyway. Fu Lihua pretended to be reluctant but she quickly informed her chauffeur…

When they entered the car, they greeted the chauffeur. They waited for Shan Yijun, who had told Chen Daiyu he would be late that afternoon. 

“Big brother Yijun I have yet to formally introduce the two of you, this is Fu Lihua. Hua Hua, this is my big cousin Shan Yijun” Chen Daiyu happily introduced them to each other.

Both Shan Yijun and Fu Lihua went on indifferent mode. They both stood up straight and elegantly shaked each other’s hands.

Chen Daiyu who was watching on the side: “…”

No wonder Hua Hua felt so familiar…

They were both two-faced!

“Nice to meet you,” they said in unison. They seemed to have a telepathic conversation that Chen Daiyu didn’t know about, because they stared at each other for a good minute. Then, Shan Yijun opened the back door for the two of them and sat in the passenger seat.

They bought ice cream on their way home and bid Fu Lihua goodbye when they arrived at the Fu family’s mansion’s gate. Both Chen Daiyu and Shan Yijun went home, completing another peaceful day.
