Chapter 22 – Papa

When they walked out of the restaurant, Shan Yijun and Lu Ji had already left. Xiao Daiyu spotted a familiar, eye-catching black rolls-royce parked on the side. Some people would occasionally stare at it while passing by.

Xiao Daiyu hesitated for a moment before turning to look at Chen Feng, who was holding her small hand, and tried to get his attention.

“F-father-,” she pulled Chen Feng’s hand.

Chen Feng stopped and looked at her, many emotions fleeting through his eyes. The temperature around him started to drop while he was still lost in his thoughts. Faced with this reaction, Xiao Daiyu felt she had done something wrong. If it had been anyone else she wouldn’t have cared, but this was this body’s father, her father.

She started panicking, thinking of what she did and how to fix it. Until she heard a little boy call his dad ‘papa’ as they passed by them.

“Papa..?” It came out more like a question.

“Yes, dear?” Chen Feng’s smile brightened immediately, he crouched down to look at her in the face. Xiao Daiyu’s face flushed red, she looked so cute that Chen Feng wanted to pinch her cheeks, so he did.

“Papa, I heard that your hand is injured, is it alright for you to drive? ” Xiao Daiyu asked while fidgeting with her hands.

Chen Feng’s smile grew wider, “you’re worried about me?” He could not help but tease her.

She lowered her head and a mumble ‘yes’. Chen Feng did not know where his sudden happiness came from, but he smiled a bit wider and told her if she did not mind waiting for a bit he would call his chauffeur. After Xiao Daiyu said she did not mind, they sat down together on a bench nearby to wait.

It took less than 15 minutes for a car to stop in front of them, and two men to come out of it. The two were none other than Lu ‘chauffeur’ Ji and Chu ‘butler’ Mo.

Lu Ji had been surprised by Chen Feng’s call, but after hearing that he needed a chauffeur because his princess was worried, he rolled his eyes. He turned their car back around and picked Chu Mo up before going to the restaurant again.

Chu Mo went to the rolls-royce and opened the door for them to get on. Chen Feng went in first, then took Xiao Daiyu by surprise when he lifted her and put her on his lap.

Lu Ji, who was watching from the side, couldn’t help but lament. “Seeing the little princess so favored, I doubt the prince will have any position at home anymore”

“Who is favored? ” Shan Yijun popped out from the back seat and glared at Lu Ji.

When they reached their temporary mansion, Chen Feng toured Xiao Daiyu around, even if there was no need to.

In 5 days, they would go back to the capital. After all, Chen Feng and the rest were only there to make sure Shan He, Shan Yijun’s father, didn’t make any bad decisions.

Xiao Daiyu had tried denying it at first, but over dinner she casually asked Chen Feng what Shan Yijun’s father’s name was.

After hearing it, Xiao Daiyu couldn’t keep fooling herself. She realized that her new family, who accepted her, had a cruel end. They were the same ‘villainous family from the only webnovel she had read.

And the plot is already on its way, from a few off handed remarks she confirmed that Shan Yijun’s mom, her aunt, hadaready died in the hands of the villian. And Shan He, his father, was in a downward spiral for revenge.

From that moment on, she was determined to do anything in her power ro make sure they did not have the same tragic ending again. She was determined to protect them.
