Chapter 20 – His Name

Thousands of thoughts of doubt flashed through her mind, but she had no way to tell herself that everything would go well.

Could she truly have a family?

She hadn’t met any of them yet, but she was terrified. All her past experiences were stopping her from truly trusting others, she couldn’t bring herself to be vulnerable. And then there were her expectations, ones she didn’t even realize she had, what has a family truly like?

“Mng-” Shan Yijun finally woke up, surprising Xiao Daiyu. “You-…” He looked around, confused as to why he was on the bed. When he saw Xiao Daiyu sitting in a chair, mortified. He looked down to find himself wrapped in the blanket that was supposed to be for his cousin.

His face turned red and tried to get off the bed in a rush, but fell off it instead, shocking Xiao Daiyu. She didn’t expect him to have such a big reaction.

Xiao Daiyu quickly stood up and went to his side to see how he was, but when she got there he had already stood up and cleared his throat. His face was so red that Xiao Diayu couldn’t help but think of a tomato.

“Cousin, your bed…” Shan Yijun pointed at the hospital bed indicating that she should lay on it.

Cousin…

She blinked and obediently crawled on the bed, although she struggled due to how short she was.

Shan Yijun, on the other hand, felt so embarrassed, He had been sleeping on the bed meant for the patient, while the patient was sitting on the side. And the patient was his cute new cousin! He wanted her to have a good impression of him!! If he could have had, he would have dug a hole and hid in it, he was that embarrassed. Thankfully, Xiao Daiyu had agreed to go to bed or else he would’ve been in an even more awkward situation.

Xiao Daiyu obediently laid there while Shan Yijun sat where she previously sat.

Lu Ji, who was watching the show from the door’s window, almost laughed himself to death. The children were adorable, Shan Yijun truly needed someone closer to his age to interact with. It has been a while since he saw the little kid be so expressive, especially after his mom’s death.

Time passed by quickly, and before she knew it, Xiao Daiyu had passed a week in the hospital.

It had been a calm week. Xiao Daiyu and Shan Yijun grew closer during this time, he would visit every day with different gadgets and taught her how to use them.

Of course she already knew how to work them, but she could feel that Shan Yijun felt strangely happy and proud whenever he successfully taught her something.

She never saw anyone other than Shan Yijun and Lu Ji. She never saw her so-called father either. Lu Ji didn’t talk about him and she didn’t ask, although she seemed like she didn’t care about it, she was a bit disappointed not hearing from him.

But she was finally getting discharged that day. Lu Ji had brought her a bag containing her clothes but he couldn’t do much else. He was specifically told to not mention Chen Feng and he could tell the little girl wanted to know more, but didn’t ask.

Thankfully, both Chen Feng and Xiao Daiyu were going to be discharged the same day.

Because of the incident last time, Chen Feng’s injury worsened and he was supposed to be under watch for two weeks. But he was surprisingly obedient on staying still and thanks to his amazing recovery rate, the recovery was shortened to 7 days. Coincidentally, Xiao Daiyu was also released that day.

“Yijun, hurry up!” The excited Lu Ji can’t help but yell at Shan Yijun, who was still using the bathroom.

Whenever he visited the orphanage or throughout the 7 days in the hospital, every time he saw Xiao Daiyu he couldn’t help but think how similar she was to Chen Feng.

Both of them only had one expression on their face at all times.

One would smile and the other one was poker faced. He wondered how interesting their interactions would be.

Xiao Daiyu tilted her head and asked, “Yijun…?”

Lu Ji’s turned to look at her, his eyes wider than the moon, “Nani?(1) Yijun never told you his name?!?”

Xiao Daiyu shook her head.

Shan Yijun, who had just come out of the bathroom, almost tripped…

He really forgot to tell her his name…
