Chapter 18 – Cousin’s Bond
“Although the wound looked bad, she didn’t have any sort of head trauma. But we want to keep her here for a while longer for further examination, just a precaution considering she was hit repeatedly” the doctor explained carefully. He was nervous at Mr. Chen’s fake smile, he needed to make sure the child was safe.
“Rest assured, she is not in any danger”
The doctor sighed and glanced at Chen Feng’s clenched fist. The man truly cared for the little girl in the room, he looked ready to kill someone.
Chen Feng took a deep breath, turned around, and left the hospital leaving Shan Yijun behind.
Shan Yijun: “…”
” I guess I’ll stay…” Shan Yijun sheepishly scratched his head knowing that he was wrong for accepting a gun from Lu Ji. He then turned to the doctor “Doctor can I enter?”
“Yes, but she’s sleeping right now the doctor nodded and instinctively patted his head, “Your sister must’ve been through a lot today and needs rest.”
“Sister…?” Shan Yijun muttered.
Shan Yijun carefully opened the door and found Xiao Daiyun asleep in the bed, she looked defenseless compared to when she had a gun in her hands. The contrast left him speechless.
He went up to her and noticed she had kicked off her blankets while asleep. While smiling to himself, he picked them up and put them over her again, fearing she might be cold. Hospitals always had the AC on way too cold, even more so at the moment since it was mid summer.
Truthfully, Xiao Daiyu woke up when the door opened. A habit she developed during her training in her past life. Even at night they would have ‘drills’ where they were attacked at any moment, they had to be alert, or they would die.

She peeked a bit to see what the little boy was doing, but he only covered her with a quilt and sat down in a nearby chair.
The corner of her mouth rose a bit before falling asleep again.
After covering her with a quilt, Shan Yijun patiently waited on a chair that was by the side of the bed and watched his cousin sleep, until he too fell asleep.
When Lu Ji walked in, he saw two children. One was sleeping on the bed while the other one was sitting on a chair already nodding his head off.
He could not help but smile at this scene and put the things he bought gently on the ground, not wanting to wake them up.
He walked up to Shan Yijun and carried him, reminding himself no matter how mature he appeared to be, he was still a child. Xiao Daiyu’s small frame barely occupied half of the bed so he laid Shan Yijun beside her.
He tucked them both in the bed and left quietly.
