Chapter 17 – Aftermath of the incident
Not wasting any time, Chen Feng and Lu Ji quickly apprehended everyone. An ambulance and the police were called to the scene.
The men captured were to be taken to a seperate station to find the mastermind behind the frequent kidnappings, there would also be a further investigation on the orphanage’s involvement.
The nurses checked if any of the children were severely injured. Thankfully, other than being hit, they had no severe 0injuries.
Xiao Daiyu had to be sent to the hospital for immediate treatment of her head injuries and to check for any possible head trauma.
While Xiao Daiyu was being checked on by a doctor, Chen Feng turned to Lu Ji, his smile disappearing from his face.
“Send those men to the barracks, I’ll interrogate them personally”
“Ah?” Lu Ji was dumbfounded. Whenever the higher ups tried to make Chen Feng interrogate someone, he would reply depending on his mood. If he was volunteering, he couldn’t imagine the state of the burglars afterwards.
Shan Yijun on the other hand, had a blank look on his face. He could still see the little girl holding a gun and glaring fiercely at the kidnappers. She didn’t back down.
He looked down at his own hands and thought of his uselessness back in the factory. He couldn’t do anything at all while Xiao Daiyu was able to take the men down herself.
He needed to get stronger, he needed to be able to protect those around him. That way he wouldn’t lose anyone again.
Inside the room, Xiao Daiyu was struggling not to sneeze while the doctor bandgard her head.
After bandaging her up, the doctor applied some ointment on her face to decrease the swelling. He couldn’t help but sigh as he looked at her bruises.

“Who would be so ruthless with a child…”
“Alright, it’s done. Let big sister nurse help you lie down,” Xiao Daiyu didn’t refuse the nurse’s help and lied down.
As she stared at the ceiling she couldn’t help but think of how unfamiliar it all was. Everytime she had to get treatment in her past life, she would have to do it herself, so this was her first time in a hospital.
This was all so new to her. She was struggling to keep her eyes open as all that she had done started to sink in, and slowly dozed off.
“Eh? She fell asleep?” Lu Ji was surprised, when he saw her earlier, she didn’t look the type of person that could fall asleep anywhere, she was so cautious of everything that he almost forgot that she was just a child.
Both Chen Feng and Shan Yijun looked at him like he was an idiot.
“Ahem, it’s good that she fell asleep” he immediately changed his wording. “I’m going to get everything ready,” he turned around and left.
Chen Feng didn’t even glance in Lu Ji’s direction but focused on the doctor that was coming towards them.
“How is she?” Chen Feng smiled at the doctor, though it looked more threatening than a nicety.
The doctor cleared his throat and told them “although the wound looked bad, she didn’t have any sort of head trauma.”
