Chapter 14 – Trap Door

“This is the place that the tracker showed”

Lu Ji peaked from behind a tree, he could vaguely see a simple Land Rover in the parking lot, though it wasn;t cheap by normal standards.

It seems that these kidnappers weren’t poor at all, why would they take Xiao Daiyu from the orphanage? Did they find out her identity? Or was it human trafficking?

“Here, hold this,” Lu Ji handed Shan Yijun a pistol, “ for protection only, stay here and watch out for anyone coming towards you.”

He knew he would be punished later for this but he gave it to the kid anyway.

Holding the small pistol that had been entrusted to him, Shan Yijun suddenly felt his blood boil. Unlike the usual practice he did in training camp, which was dull and repetitive, he felt eager when holding this gun in his hand, like that was where it belonged.

Too focused on the tracking device, Lu Ji didn’t notice the killing intent swimming in Shan Yijun’s pitch black eyes. Lu Ji thought that he knew Shan Yijun too well, he was too smart for his age and had been practicing using guns since he was 7, but he had never actually shot somebody.

This is just for protection because he, Lu Ji, would have to deal with who knows how many people as quickly as possible before Chen Feng came and aggravated his wounds further.

Lu Ji snuck in with the tracking tablet and Shan Yijun behind, when they went to the where the dot was, there was no one. Their only choices were either going to the second floor or to the first one.

But when they saw the stairs to the second floor were non-existent, they decided to find the entrance to the basement. He indicated to Shan Yijun to start looking for it as well.

“Uncle” Shan Yijun called and pointed at the ground, when Lu Ji looked over, there were no traces of the door, just inconspicuous footsteps visible on the dusty floor. They checked around and found a little matk that when lifted, showed a handle to lift a trapdoor.

Lu Ji signaled for Shan Yijun to back out then he lifted the lid. It was surprisingly light and noiseless, when he completely lifted it up, he could vaguely see a pair of stairs that led to a metal door.

Back in the pitch black room, aside from the light that came from the gaps of the door, it was completely dark. Xiao Daiyu narrowed her eyes, still trying to get used to darkness when she saw 3 silhouettes bundled in the corner.

“Hey” she called, the three flinched and looked back, when they saw another silhouette they sobbed more.

Xiao Daiyu had no expression on her face, but deep in her eyes, there was a trace of regret. She knew from the simple dresses the kids were wearing too well, they were from the orphanage.

To comfort them just a bit, Xiao Daiyu came forward and sat next to them.

“Don’t worry, I’ll get you guys out,” there was determination in her voice, she wouldn’t let anything happen to them.

The three quivered but the one in the middle raised his head. It was a little boy with very feminine eyes that looked quite beautiful.

“Really?” there was hope and disbelief in his tone, he stared at Xiao Daiyu like she was his life line. The two girls also looked at Xiao Daiyu the same way.

“En, definitely,” she smirked. With arrogance in her tone made the little turnips subconsciously believe her.
