The Numbers That Brought Our Fates Together Chapter 78: This Is Our Answer.
Elena once again dialed David, but the subscriber was still unavailable. She looked back at the headlines of articles posted on Greenline Inc.
How was this even possible? How could they dare themselves to humiliate her in this way? Seduced the heir of the company? Wanted to get the secrets of the company?
Never before has she come across such a lie and hypocrisy towards her. And the only person who could somehow clarify the situation was thousands of kilometers away and did not even answer the phone.
The last thing she heard was a woman's voice, which asked her not to disturb the owner of the phone.
Elena closed her laptop and went downstairs. She poured a glass of water and took a few sips. Her head was splitting from the surging thoughts, her heart was squeezed by resentment, but her mind supported her and did not allow her to be completely upset.
'Damn, David, why don't you answer when I need you so much?'
Elena took a deep breath and went into the living room. The girl sat on the sofa, grabbed the remote and turned on the TV.
Automatically flipping through the channels, she suddenly froze and attentively looked at the name she was familiar with on the TV screen.
"Good day, dear viewers. Only on CNN, we present for your attention an exclusive interview that one of our correspondents took from David Anderson of Greenline Inc. literally the day before yesterday. We accidentally caught him at the airport, so we only have an audio recording. But even this was a very interesting interview, revealing many secrets. Let's listen to David himself."
At that moment, a picture of David appeared on the TV screen, and Elena heard his voice. With each answer of the young man, the girl's heart contracted more and more.
She felt a lump approaching her throat, and it became difficult for her to breathe. Elena covered her mouth with her hands to contain the rising sounds of the voice, which were still bursting out.
Turning off the TV, the girl jumped up from the couch and ran out of the house.

. . .
Rick made a few calls, but David's phone was turned off.
"Mr. Lee, David flew to England two days ago. I'm sure something is wrong here, he could not make such statements. He loves… Well, he loves your daughter," Rick added, although the last words were clearly the exact opposite to the information they had heard before.
"Loves, you are saying? That is, this attitude is called "love"? Do not make me laugh, this bastard, like his father, apparently, does not even have a conscience! Needless to talk about love!" President Lee's fury knew no bounds.
"If they want the war, they will get it," Chen hissed angrily, "I will never let my family to be harmed again. They still don't know who they are dealing with."
Mr. Lee took his jacket from the chair and headed for the door, "Rick, I'm going home. I need to make sure Elena did not see this. If you need anything else, feel free to contact my secretary, she will prepare everything," Chen said and left the office.
. . .
"Elena?"
President Lee went up to her daughter's room, but she was not there. He quickly ran through the house but did not find her. Then he went out through the back door and froze in place. The girl was squatting near the summer house and drawing something on the ground with a stick. The man walked slowly toward his daughter.
"Elena?" Mr. Lee quietly called out his daughter so as not to frighten her, but the girl didn't respond.
He came closer and crouched beside her, "Elena?" He called her again and put his hand on her shoulder.
The girl raised her head and looked at Chen. 'Damn, did I come too late?' the man thought, and his heart sank.
Tears came out in Elena's eyes, she threw herself on her father's neck and began crying loudly, "Dad, why did he do it to me? What did I do??" The girl did not let up and cried louder and louder.
"Shh, shh, everything will be fine, everything will be fine." Mr. Lee stroked his daughter's back gently; this was the only thing he could do at the moment.

'Just come back, David Anderson. You will pay for each of her tears,' the man thought, and the fire of wild hatred lit in his heart.
. . .
Rick once again ran his eyes on all the articles and documents that the secretary of President Lee provided him so he could study them carefully.
The young man made another attempt to reach David but had no success again.
'Idiot, you found a perfect time to keep silence. How can I get rid of all this crap that you have done? Damn, we haven't been in such a shitty situation yet. Eh, David, David, forgive me, buddy, but you yourself put me in such a position. So don't be offended at the fact that I will do what I consider the right thing to do.'
Rick sighed heavily and pressed a button to replay the recording of the interview.
The ringing voice of the reporter greeted the audience, and she turned to questions, "Mr. Anderson, is it true that you are flying to England to propose to your girlfriend? How long have you known her?"
"I have known this girl for a long time. She is a wonderful person."
"Oh, it turns out you are very serious about her, right? Are you planning a wedding soon?" the next question followed up.
"I'm serious and will be happy if she agrees to be with me," David replied.
"What about Miss Lee then? Rumor has it that you have a relationship. Have you known her for a long time too?"
"I met Ms. Lee recently."
"It turns out that she indeed wriggled into your favor deliberately. God, what a dirty trick! Do you have anything to say to Miss Lee and girls like her?"
"I do not want to offend anyone, but these girls are not interesting to me. Therefore, I wish each of them to find someone else," David finished his interview.
"Thank you, Mr. Anderson. Safe flight for you. It was Lucy Mitchell from the Sunday Times, exclusively for CNN."
. . .
It was already midnight when Chen Lee knocked on his daughter's room.
"Elena, are you sleeping?"
"No," the girl replied.
"Then I will come, ok?" The man opened the door and walked over to his daughter's bed, "I need you to come down to my study with me. I have something very serious to tell you."
"Okay," the girl obediently got out of bed and followed her father, like a robot.
Going inside, she was surprised to see a familiar face there.
"Rick?! What are you doing here?" the girl asked.
"Good evening, or rather, good night, Elena. I'm glad to see you. Although the circumstances are not the most pleasant. Come on in, your father and I wanted to discuss something with you."
The girl walked forward and sat down on one of the chairs in the center of the room.
"Elena, as far as you know, Rick's company and he himself were responsible for the entire marketing strategy of Lee Pharmaceuticals. You know that the situation now is not the most positive for us."
"Yeah," the girl nodded. Of course, she knew perfectly well what the situation was in the company.
"Elena, I am not here as your friend, although as a friend I'm ready to help you any way I can. But at the moment I'm here as the representative of the Berne Group," Rick addressed the girl.
"So when I show you what Mr. Lee and I are offering to you, please treat this offer as the heiress of Lee Pharmaceuticals. News published by Greenline Inc. can be compared to a huge sensation. And for us to level their effect, we must make an even greater sensation."
Rick handed a newspaper to the girl. When Elena took it in her hands, the paper still smelled of printing ink.
The girl opened the newspaper and read the main headline. Elena's mouth was opened in shock from what she saw.
"This is… what is this?" She raised her head and looked at the men with a shocked look.
"This is our answer to Greenline Inc.," President Lee said.
"Daughter, are you ready to help? If you agree, then this will be published tomorrow."
Elena kept silence and did not know what to say. She hung her head and reread the headline,

Star God
An ancient, ageless entity of magic intertwines with the essence of a tribal hero and a god is born. In a land where the worship of any entity is banned and punishable by mass-execution, the young and idealistic deity must come to terms with the ugliness of humanity, and find a way for his flock to survive, and maybe even thrive. A young man born into a mountain tribe treads the path of a hero, but he must learn the extent to which he would go to keep his people and their fledgling god safe and happy. Enemies are everywhere, and to defend their way of life, they must learn to harness the power of magic. Others are ahead of them in this regard, so they must act fast if they are to survive. A Xianxia-esque magic system, but with a focus on Western-style spellcasting and mysticism. This is more or less a deconstruction of classical fantasy and pantheons. The story focuses on two main characters; a God and a hero who serves him. Kingdom building themes are prevalent. If you like it, please remember to rate and review.
