The Numbers That Brought Our Fates Together Chapter 55: Gossiping Grandmas In Action.
Rick was hovering over the table like a bee, putting his tasty yummies on the guests' plates.
"Finally, our little doves left their little nest and joined us! I hope you settled things down properly?" he asked Elena and David.
"If some people didn't disturb us, our conversation with Elena would have been more pleasant," David noted sarcastically. "But so be it, you are trying so hard today, just like Cinderella. Your handsome prince can burst from the amount of food that you are offering him," he laughed and pointed to Corey's plate, which was filled to the top with various snacks.
"Eat first, talk later," Rick replied and stuffed a sausage into David's mouth. "Elena, how do you even handle him at all?"
Elena just smiled a little, and David chewed the sausage and said, "My girlfriend does not need to handle me at all. My character is much better than that of some people."
"Would you please tell me a bit more about those some people? Are you hinting at someone now? Ahhh… By the way, by the way. I know one person who has the most disgusting character I've ever seen. It's true, huh, David? I heard his intellectual Majesty honored us with his arrival. Is that so?"
"So are you talking about Daniel now?" David asked Rick and kept on eating.
"And who else will I talk about? And how is he? When did he arrive?"
"He arrived two days ago. He told me, *Say hello to my sweat Ricky!*," David replied.
"Agh, don't you dare to quote this idiot!" Rick exploded with indignation.
"And who is this Daniel?" Corey asked, hearing a new name.

"This is David's older brother."
"Do you have an older brother?!" Corey was utterly surprised. For some reason, apparently, for the reason known only to her, she always believed that David was the only child in the family.
"And what is he like?" she asked.
Rick turned to Corey, took both her hands and said with a very serious expression on his face,
"Honey, if you ever meet this Daniel, I beg you, run away from him. Run for the sake of your life! He is the most dangerous object that you can encounter in your life."
"But why?" Corey looked at Rick in surprise. She could not understand whether he was joking or talking seriously.
"This guy is a real killer. The killer of innocent female hearts."
"I remember we were celebrating David's 20th birthday and his elder brother arrived right in time when the party was starting to roll, although no one called him. For two hours that he was there, he had managed to have sex with three different girls who were among the guests, and because of that these girls then fought with one another. As a consequence, the whole party was ruined.
I do not know what he is doing, maybe he has some kind of supernatural power, but if he has his eye on someone, that's it. 100% guarantee that this girl will be in his bed in a maximum of 24 hours. So never, never meet with him! With such a cutie like you are, he will definitely not pass by you," Rick warned the girl with all seriousness.
"David, is this true? Is your brother really capable of such a thing?" Corey was shocked that such behavior was possible.
"Going into the details of Daniel's stormy life is like riding a roller coaster without having a belt fastened. It is dangerous for nerves and health. Therefore, I do not know which neuron has collapsed in his head that he came here to meet his bride," David answered melancholically, chewing a piece of spinach.

"Bride?! Whose bride?! Daniel's?! What kind of woman in her senses would agree to marry him?!" Rick's jaw dropped on the table from what he had heard since such an event went beyond any framework of the existing reality.
"I asked the same thing, but he just smiled back. The only thing I know is that the girl herself is not aware of it, and the agreement is being processed between her parents and him. As I understand it, they should meet today," David replied.
"You want to say that they are going to settle everything without even informing her? What kind of parents would do that?" There was no limit to Corey's indignation.
'Hmm, it feels like I'm in the company of gossiping grandmothers from a nearby street who are constantly discussing how short my skirt is,' Elena thought, looking at three friends who were discussing this stranger enthusiastically.

The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week. If you want to read it all ahead of schedule and get access to some premium-exclusive bonus content, the entire book is available for purchase; links to the appropriate storefront pages will be posted at the end of each chapter. This story is also being posted to Scribblehub.
