The Numbers That Brought Our Fates Together Chapter 33: So You Just Wanna Be Friends?
"And where the hell is Jason? He asked me to buy him a burger and still didn't show up", Corey was already angry with her friend, who was supposed to come half an hour ago. The girls were sitting on a bench in a small park near the academic building and were waiting for their friend.
"Come on, relax, you know how much he loves basketball. He is too much in the game, as usual. He will come soon," Elena answered calmly.
"Relax? I see some people are way too relaxed. Well, crack up, how was everything? You texted me that you are spending the night at David's place, and that was two days ago. Details, I urgently need de-tails!"
"Everything went well," Elena replied and could not keep a confused smile out of her face. She was still getting blushed by the memories of that morning when she woke up in the arms of David…. being completely naked.
'God, how relaxed I was that night that I didn't even think about putting on my underwear and just passed out while he was in the shower'.
Elena's unusual reaction wasn't left without an answer. Corey gasped and covered her mouth with her hands. "Oh, you are a little naughty thing! Elena Lee turns out to be a bad girl! I didn't expect you to move to a new level so quickly. Hehehe"
Elena blushed even more. "Hey, stop teasing me! It was nothing like that! Well… Almost nothing"
"And how far did that "almost" go, eh?" Corey was shining as if expecting the continuation of her favorite series after the next block of advertising.
"Umm, well, he …," Elena leaned over to her friend and told her all the details of her visit to Mr. Anderson's apartment.
"NO KIDDING ??? REALLY ?? DANG!!"
Elena put her hand on her friend's mouth, "Can you not scream so loudly?!"
"Damn, El, I just did not expect this. And David, he is a little devil right?"
"Yeah, you can't even imagine. When he turns on this mood, it seems to me that I start to panic. In a good way," Elena replied to her.

"Oh, my dear friend, I'm so happy for you! But if he pisses you off with anything, just tell me. I will immediately kick his beautiful butt!"
"Okay, I get it. And I'll do it," Elena hugged Corey.
"What are you talking about, young ladies?"
"Wow, look who's here," Corey gave Jason a withering look. "Here, take your burger and half the glass of coffee."
"What? Why only half?" the guy was surprised, taking his order from Corey.
"You thought I would just wait for you there? If you had come 10 minutes later, you would have left without coffee," Corey told him.
Jason sighed and began to chew his burger. "And what are you discussing so cheerfully without me? I heard your screaming 15 yards away. Corey, you better learn some manners."
"What did you just say? Keep on chewing your little burger there, all righty? And we discussed the details of Elena's date with David, which you don't need to know about."
"Yeah, all you can do is discussing someone else's romantic life. You don't have your own. Elena, my congratulations."
"Who doesn't have a romantic life here? Are you talking about yourself now?" Corey got up from the bench and prepared for an important statement. "Tah-dam! While two of my best friends are here, I officially announce it. I, Corey Williams, have been a beloved and adored girlfriend of the stunning and mega sexy Rick Stein, for two days already! That's it!"
"Ahem, ahem, what? What did you say?" Jason choked on a burger when he heard the news.
"Congratulations!" Elena replied to her friend.
"Hmm, Rick doesn't know who he's dealing with yet," Jason mumbled, finishing his coffee.
"Envy is a bad feeling, Mr. Barton," Corey told him.
At that moment her phone rang, "Hello? Rick! Yes, I am still in the Academy." Corey gave a hand to her friends that she would step aside to talk.
Elena and Jason remained sitting on the bench.
"Are you OK?" The girl asked the young man.
"Am I? I'm fine."
"You know, this time, I think everything is really serious."
Jason sighed and stared at the ground.

"Jason, do not you think that ten years is enough time to finally reveal your feelings?"
"It's twelve. Twelve years".
"That's even worse! Jason, you have been in love with Corey for twelve years. Is it only friendship that you are ok with?"
"Elly, it is ok for her. I'm a close friend to her. Knowing Corey, I'm not sure that she can communicate with me normally when she finds out about my true feelings. I don't want to lose her because of my greed."
"It's just that I'm afraid that now you can really lose your last chance to confess her about the situation," Elena replied to him.
"So be it. If she is happy, then it suits me even more. Moreover, Rick seems to be a very good person. And clearly better than I am. Besides being the son of the minister, I have nothing more to brag about."
"Jason, you just underestimate yourself. Be confident."
"Yeah, sure. Your wisdom, Miss Lee, as always knows no bounds," Jason grinned and winked at her friend. "By the way, Elena, dial me up. I can't find my phone for some reason."
"I would love to, but my phone's discharged. Corey will come back now and you ask her."
"No, I'll pass. I'll go to the locker room, and check it there. Wait for me at the gate, OK?"
"Good."
Elena and Corey were staying at the gate and waiting for Jason to return, so they would go home together. At that moment Melinda approached them, which was quite unexpected, considering their relationship.
"Um, Corey, can I talk to you?" she said.
"Talk, although we don't seem to have common topics to discuss," Corey answered Melinda coldly.
"Can we step aside? This is personal."
Corey's face twisted from the unusual courtesy of this girl. She looked at her friend. "Go. I'll wait here," Elena replied to her. Corey and Melinda stepped aside a few meters.
"Excuse me, are you Miss Lee?"
Elena turned around and saw an unknown young man behind her.
"Yes, it's me," the girl wanted to ask what this man needed, but at that moment she felt a sharp pain and her eyes immediately darkened.
"Well, tell me what you want from me," Corey asked Melinda.
"You see, the thing is … Oh, it seems your phone is ringing. Maybe you want to pick it up?" Corey looked at the phone display. Jason was calling.
"Hello, I'm listening. What do you mean, where are we? You said to wait for you at the gate. Elena is right opposite the entrance… ."
Corey turned in the direction of her friend and saw a strange man pick Elena up in his arms and put her in a parked car nearby.
"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!" Corey dashed to her friend who was already inside the car.
"LET HER GO NOW!! POLICE !!!" The girl grabbed the man by the jacket and began to pull him out of the car.
"Hello?? Corey?? What's going on?" Jason walked toward the gate, but suddenly he heard Corey's scream. The young man ran toward the source of the noise, but all he could see was how a strange man hit the girl on the head and dragged her into the car. After that, the door slammed shut and the car quickly disappeared behind the turn.
The only thing left was Corey's phone, lying on the pavement next to the road.

Believe me, it means a lot for me. Every feedback, comment, vote of yours is something that may not seem very significant to you, yet all this is just a huge support and motivation for a person who has just embarked on his writing journey.
I understood this even more when I began to write this novel. Each chapter takes several hours of a hard work. At least in my case. So if you like what you read, feel free to share your opinion. And I speak not only about my novel but also in general, as a whole. In any case, once again, thank you very much and all the best! I recommend it! Welcome to LitRPG Michael-Scott. Glad you joined the fam!" - Aleron Kong, author of the Chaos Seeds series and The Father of American LitRPG “Lion's Quest is the type of book I'm always on the lookout for and rarely ever find. It's the beginning of a series I know I'm going to enjoy, with great writing and hints of deep in-game lore. The characters are fun, the plot is engaging, and I never know what is going to happen next. The action is fast, brutal and realistic. This is one of my favorite LitRPG stories in the entire genre.” - Blaise Corvin, author of Delvers LLC: Welcome to Ludus and Secret of the Old Ones “A great first foray into LitRPG. Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

Rise of the Human Emperor
The Gods and Goddesses felt dissatisfied with the development of the mortals, and thus they decided to create a game. Animals mutated, and fantasy-like monsters invaded the world. Humans thought they were forsaken by the Gods. However, hope came after discovering that anyone that killed a mutated animal or monsters would awaken an internal energy called 'Mana'. Miraculous abilities such as the manipulation of elements, moving objects with the mind, and more super-human abilities appeared one after another. But... Would the humans truly survive the trials, be them internal or external? Would the terrors that come from their mutated planet, and beings that come from the vast sea of stars have mercy on them? Or would they fight till one side is exterminated? Would the Humans rise through the endless chaos, or succumb to the darkness of death? A sick game for entertainment of the Gods, and survival of the humans. This is the Rise of the Human Emperor. Disclaimer: The cover's drawing do not belong to me, it was edited by a good friend.
