The Numbers That Brought Our Fates Together Chapter 19: Are You Very Interested In My Personal Life?

In the Academy.

Jason was napping at the table while Corey was actively typing something on his laptop. The lecture was about to begin, but Elena didn't show up yet.

'Damn, where is she? I can't wait to ask her what happened yesterday when they left with David. Oh, I hope there is something interesting going on already!'

While Corey's mind flew in her wild fantasies, she did not even notice how her friend sat quietly beside her.

"Oh, my God!", Corey cried out in surprise, and immediately came into even greater shock. "Baby, what happened to you? You look awful!"

"Hmm, I just didn't get enough sleep." Elena replied calmly.

"Oooh, and what is the reason of you not getting enough sleep? That reason's name is Mr. Anderson, isn't it?" Corey smiled slyly and prepared to listen carefully.

Elena skeptically looked at her friend and sighed.

"Uh, I don't get it. What does this mean? Tell me what you had with David yesterday? You two left so suddenly."

"Corey, can we talk about this later? I'll tell you everything with every little detail. So I will just sit quietly for now. I practically didn't sleep at night." Elena replied. 'I wish I hadn't slept at all,' she thought to herself.

"Sure, no problem. But if something bothers you, tell me about it immediately! Otherwise, why do you need the best friend?"

"Well, I will definitely tell you." Elena smiled and hugged Corey. "It's so great that I have you."

"Haha, of course!" Corey laughed and hugged Elena back.

The door to the audience opened, and David came in. Everyone stopped talking immediately and stared at this spectacular and attractive man. He glanced around the audience and fixed his gaze on Elena. The girl immediately lowered her head and pretended to be reading something. David grinned and walked over to his desk.

"Hello! Glad to see you all today. As I said yesterday, your task was to make a report and hand it over. While I am checking my e-mail, you will have 10 minutes to finish what didn't do and put the complete work on my table. And these 10 minutes begin now!"

David sat down on his chair in slow distraction and began staring at the phone.

There was an instant noise all over the audience. People rustled their papers; many began to write something hard. One of the girls got up, walked over to David's desk and put a folder with a report on it.

10 minutes passed by far. There was still only one report on the table. David put the phone in his pocket and stood up.

"Well, as I understand it, no one plans to submit the report anymore?"

Melinda got up and said with great importance "Mr. Anderson, with all due respect, but one day to prepare such a report is not enough. Give us another day please."

Other students also began to support Melinda's idea, which made her look with even grander air.

"Miss Matthews, I understand your noble impulse to help your fellow students, but, as you can see, someone still managed to do the work. This means that this is not such an unrealizable task, is it?" David answered her.

"Someone? One person doesn't count. For example, even our A-level student Lee did not handle you a report. The same goes for Williams and Barton. Or do you have any personal relationships with them, and they don't have to submit anything at all?" Melinda smirked, feeling glad that she could take a moment and arrange the provocation she needed.

"Miss Matthews, I understand, are you very interested in my personal life?" David grinned back at her.

"Huh, I saw you yesterday with these two at the club. Somehow I have doubts that you will be as demanding to them as you are with others."

Students began to talk among themselves, discussing such juicy news. Elena glanced indifferently at the triumphant Melinda, and then looked again at her phone. Corey continued to work at the laptop, Jason innocently sniffed.

Anger was stirring in Melinda's soul since she did not achieve the desired effect.

"Here! Look!" She pulled out her phone and began to show a picture of David and Elena getting into a taxi together. "See! You even left together. Maybe you want to share with us what is happening here? As far as I know, we do not encourage the relationship between teacher and student."

David calmly looked at unsuccessful attempts of the girl to lead the topic to a more delicate direction, but her game was still completely worthless.

"Miss Matthews, so that you already know for sure and not mislead others, I will explain a few moments. Firstly, the relationship between teacher and student is NOT prohibited. Secondly, interference with the privacy of another person without his consent is an offense. Thirdly, I indeed saw Miss Lee off to her home, as I had to take Professor Richards' important documents from her. By the way, she gave me her work yesterday evening, along with the documents."

David pulled out a folder from the briefcase and put it on top of the report lying on the table, which had been submitted earlier by another student.

"Mr. Anderson, may I ask you a question?" Corey raised her hand and turned the entire attention to herself.

"I'm listening to you, Miss Williams."

"Jason and I prepared reports, but we didn't have time to print them. Can we do it during the break and then hand them over to you?"

"Not necessary. Just send them to the chair's e-mail address."

"Thank you, Mr. Anderson!" Corey saved the document she had been typing all this time and closed the laptop.

David turned to Melinda, frozen in confusion, then he grinned and continued. "Well, 4 people out of 12 managed to prepare their work. As for the rest … Thank Ms. Matthews. That half an hour that she spent on an argument with a teacher and distracted your attention, you could spend on the assignment. Unfortunately, the time of the lecture has already passed. All other reports will not be accepted anymore. Goodbye."

David took the finished reports from the table along with his bag and left the audience.

Melinda sat down in her place and did not know where to put herself. Angry groupmates were looking daggers at her from all sides.
