Chapter 241: Level 9 Realm, Mental Attack
Super Training Camp, Australian mainland.
Today was Sunday, and it was time to update the leaderboard again. All trainees had gathered here, quietly waiting for the newest rankings.
Time flew, and it soon came to 6.00 p.m.
“It’s been updated!”
“The leaderboard has been updated!”
There was a commotion in the square.
“Yang Ling-er is first again!”
“That is expected.”
“Yeah. She has been dominating the leaderboard for nearly ten weeks, even more terrific than Ling Jiu.”
“Absolutely.”
Zhou Ji, Christopher, Hirano Hatake, Christina, and others looked at the rankings and were no longer surprised.
When Ling Jiu left the training camp, they were elated, thinking that their opportunity had come. Little did they expect Yang Ling-er was replacing Ling Jiu in taking the top spot.
Yang Ling-er was dominating the top of the leaderboard, succeeding Ling Jiu, and continuing to overshadow them. They were not happy for this reason.
They had tried to fight back and think of many ways to counteract Yang Ling-er.
There were a few successes at first. But soon, their efforts were useless as Yang Ling-er was growing stronger and stronger with her points continuing to skyrocket. Since then, she kept dominating the rankings with a wide margin. It would not help, no matter what they did.
Gradually, they stopped bothering to compete because it was useless.
“If I am not mistaken, this is already the ninth consecutive week that Yang Ling-er has topped the list. The rewards she got must be scarily handsome.”
Those trainees could not help but look at Yang Ling-er with envy flashing in their eyes. How terrific would it be to top the list for nine consecutive weeks when the rewards for topping the list for three and six consecutive weeks were already so high?
“Yang Ling-er. Yang Ling-er. Yang Ling-er.”
While the trainees were talking about her, a loud broadcast resounded over the square all of a sudden.
“You have topped the rankings for nine consecutive weeks. According to the rules, you can get a special reward. Please go to the camp commandant’s office to get your reward immediately.”
Just as expected.
Those trainees looked at Yang Ling-er with an envious look in their eyes.
“I will go now, Yuhe.”
“I will see you around.”
Yang Ling-er arrived at the camp commandant’s office.
“Please take a seat, Yang Ling-er.” The camp commandant motioned for her to sit down with a smile. “Before receiving the reward, I have a question for you.”
“Yes, sir.”
“You must have attained Level-Eight, right?” The camp commandant still had a smile on his face. “You must be a Level-Eight arcanist judging by your high points and you hunt Class-Eight direbeasts only.”
“You have a keen eye, sir.” Yang Ling-er said, not bothering to hide her strength. “I just became a Level-Eight arcanist recently.”

“Tsk, tsk! I couldn’t believe that you have actually attained Level-Eight in such a short time. You are just as talented as, if not more than, Ling Jiu,” The camp commandant said. “You are now a Level-Eight arcanist. It is a waste of time to continue to stay in the training camp. I wonder if you would like to go to the Ultimate Matriculation Camp. I believe that with your current level of strength, you have no problem joining the Ultimate Matriculation Camp ahead of time.”
Yang Ling-er’s eyes lit up. She nodded. “I would like to, sir.”
“Great.” The camp commandant smiled. “I will submit the application now. If everything goes well, the application will be approved in half a month.”
“Thank you, sir.”
“You deserve it.”
The camp commandant waved his hand. “Next, let’s talk about the reward.”
…
“I can’t believe it! You have awakened this arcana?”
Bai Ya at last understood why Ling Jiu could ‘give’ her his arcana after he explained it to her.
“I was surprised, too. But this arcana is kind of useless to me.” He shrugged with a nonchalant expression.
“Useless?” Bai Ya was speechless. “Do you know how terrific this arcana is? If all you do is give people arcanas, they will treat you like God.”
“This is the same as the gods bestowing their believers with magic arts in ancient mythology. This is something only the gods could have.”
“You have a point.” Ling Jiu guffawed. “You just mentioned the ancient gods. Could it be that they were just arcanists like us but deified?”
“I will not rule out this possibility.” Bai Ya nodded. “Whether the gods exist, it has not been verified. But the existence of arcanists is real. Arcanists like us are indeed no different from the ancient gods.”
“Make sense.” Ling Jiu smiled. “Let’s continue to practice, Honey.”
“You go first. I want to study the new arcana that you have just given me.”
“All right.”
He kissed Bai Ya before going to the next room, sinking his mind into the mysterious, dark world.
The three star systems were running quietly.
The golden star system, which represented the Arcana Replication, had 16 light orbs.
The black hole star system, which represented the Plunder Arcana, had two light orbs.
The white star system, which represented the Bestow Arcana, was no longer by itself as there was a green light orb showing that he had just given Bai Ya the Anti-Aging arcana.
He continued his self-cultivation after seeing these.
Time passed, and another 10 days had passed. The cooling period of his Arcana Replication could work again. But he did not wake up this time.
He was only one step away from becoming a Level-9 arcanist. So he decided to bang it out at once until he attained Level-9 realm.

A steady stream of dark bio-energy came in from all directions and poured into his body. The energy then flew into the nebula before being absorbed by the spinning Gene Arcana core.
His Gene Arcana core had grown very large at this point of cultivation.
He still could not stop the Gene Arcana core’s expansion despite the continuous compression. There was little surprise here, given that the Gene Arcana core was absorbing dark bio-energy day and night.
The Gene Arcana core had grown to the size of a watermelon at this point. It rotated like a top, just at extremely high speed.
Ling Jiu knew that the Gene Arcana core’s rotating speed and pressure had reached its limit despite the ridiculous speed. This meant that the core was no longer shrinking.
This also meant that it could no longer absorb more dark bio-energy, and he had reached Level-8’s limit.
If he wanted to break through the limit and attained Level-9, he would need to speed up the core further.
“Accelerate the core!”
He took a deep breath. Using his mental power as a pair of tentacles, he pushed the core to spin at an even higher speed.
This process consumed a lot of mental power. If his mental power was not strong enough, he could have failed from over exhaustion.
Fortunately, he had a dark psionic crystal inside him to boost his mental power at all times.
Even he himself had no idea at what level his mental power was right now. All he knew was it was fairly easy for him to push the core.
Push! Push! Push!
His mental tentacles kept pushing the Gene Arcana core, so it spun faster and faster.
When the speed of the core reached a critical point at last, the Gene Arcana core was getting a terrifying pressure force on it.
Under this pressure, the core gradually shrank, and once again started to absorb the surrounding nebulae.
At this moment, Ling Jiu felt he had stepped into a new realm, where the world and his senses were clearer, and his vision was broader.
“I am a Level-Nine arcanist, at last!”
He murmured to himself and spread his Arcana Field in all directions—100m, 500m, 1,000m, 2,000m, 4,000m, 6,000m, 8,000m, 9,000m, 10km.
When his Arcana Field reached a radius of 10 kilometers, he felt he had hit the limit where his Arcana Field could no longer expand.
“10 kilometers is the limit of Level-Nine arcanists’ Arcana Field,” Ling Jiu muttered to himself. “Besides, my Arcana Field and the control of it has reached an unprecedented level of strength.”
At this moment, he could clearly sense that he could easily separate nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide from the air.
He could clearly see every component in the earth, such as the minerals, organic matter, and silicates.
Of course, these were nothing. The biggest change was, he could integrate his Arcana Field into the world and mobilize the power of the world.
He could merge with the air current, mobilizing its power to form a terrifying storm.
He could integrate with the sea, mobilizing the momentum of the seawater to create a super tsunami.
He could become one with the earth, borrowing its power to move mountains and fill the sea, breaking up land and bringing down mountains.
“The convergence of the Arcana Field and the world and the mobilization of the power of the world could push the power of my arcanas to an unprecedented level.” Ling Jiu murmured. “So the Arcana Field’s BUFF bonus of a Level-Nine arcanist is an astonishing 50 times.”
50 times was a terrifyingly tall figure.
Such as his Gravity Arcana; as he was a Level-9 arcanist now, the basic gravity force that he could control was 9×2×10=180 times.
50 times of the BUFF bonus was 9,000 times!
He could control up to 9,000 times of gravity.
Terrifying was not the word for it.
“There is a breakthrough, at last.”
Ling Jiu stretched. “While it took just one dark bio-energy crystal to attain Level-Eight, it took three to get to Level-Nine. This is a bit expensive.”
It doesn’t matter if it is expensive, since there were tons of dark bio-energy crystals onboard the Leoux.
And in Leoux’s words, the Leoux could extract dark bio-energy and compress it into crystals. The last thing they had to worry about near to a white hole was energy.
“It’s time to replicate another arcana.”
He glanced at Bai Ya, who was still in a self-cultivation. He again quietly got out of the airship without interrupting her.
“I just saw a pretty good direbeast in that direction using my Arcana Field.”
He vanished with just a thought, and when he reappeared, he was in front of a valley seven or eight kilometers away.
The valley was surrounded by mountains on both sides, blanketed by fog, just like a fairyland on Earth. He entered the valley and reached the deeper part of it in no time.
A pool of water with a rising white mist appeared in front of him. The pool was clear, and the place looked like a painting.
Ling Jiu stepped on the water and walked to the center of the pool, looking down at a direbeast in the pool.
This was a giant beast resembling an eel. Its 100-meter body was golden, covered with needle-like tough spikes. It swam quietly in the pool, as if a golden dragon in a fairy pond.
Name: Unknown
Species: Golden-Dragon Spiked Eel
Arcanas: Goldenization (awakened, replicable), Super Speed (awakened, replicable), Mental Attack (awakened, replicable)

Post War Rules
Life on Torus Terminal is usually fast paced, but simple. A frontier Terminal has little room for easy living, but the great, circular station does boast shopping and culinary experiences from many Imperial races and cultures. Any star is, by its nature, extremely far from its neighbors. But laser highways, and the great shimmering sails of the light-rider spaceships make the trip into only about ten years. Still, the denizens of Torus Terminal eagerly await the day when the Anti-Euclidean Engine their station is built around finally comes online. Once that is done, they will have unfettered access to the entire Empire. Instantaneous travel and trade across hundreds of stars. Torus Terminal does boast one other oddity: a creature which calls itself Human. As he says, the last of his kind for now. He has made quite the life for himself on Torus Terminal, especially in the darker corners of the station. The elites of Torus Terminal praise his name, for once he took up arms, crime began to fall. What they did not realize was that was because he had claimed the seedy underbelly of Torus Terminal for himself and his own goals. The elites praise him as a paragon of law. The criminals fear him as a ruthlessly clever crime boss. Those closest to him, know him as the General. This story was originally posted on the Humanity Fuck Yeah subreddit, where it evolved from a simple play on a historical figure in a science fiction setting into a full blown space opera. I kind of took it as an opportunity to explore a setting I've had rolling around in my head for years. I also decided that it would be nice to have it in a place where I could more easily come back and edit it later, so I'm reposting it here. Here's a link to the original posting if you're interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/e9cwpl/post_war_rules/ If my genre and tagging is subpar, let me know. I'm still new to Royal Road and I'm open to help. Feel free to comment and make suggestions, or discuss. I love comments, and so long as we keep things civil I also love criticism.
