The winding vines now looked like blood dragons and the rhizomes made one think of blood pythons.
Countless Direbeasts were shrouded in the scarlet forest. They were now in trouble. Scarlet vines shot out. What followed next was a series of pitter-patter sound. The vines pierced and killed all Direbeasts at once.
All the Direbeasts in the area were wiped out in the blink of an eye.
“So awesome!”
“Is this a Wood-type Arcana?”
“L—Ling Jiu has Wood-type arcana?”
It stunned the trainees, including Zhou Ji, Christopher and Hirano Hatake, to see Ling Jiu’s performance.
Ling Jiu had previously shown his ability to control metal, which had shocked them beyond words. And now he was showing yet another ability: the Wood-type Arcana. Was he a monster?

Yang Ling-er and Ai Yuhe glanced at each other and saw a sense of shock in each other’s eyes. “I used to wonder why he had so many arcana, but now I finally know why. He is really OP!”
Ai Yuhe looked at Yang Ling-er. “Besides, if I’m not mistaken, he must have secretly replicated your Five-Element Manipulation!”
“I am more than happy if he has done that!”
Yang Ling-er broke out in a bright smile.
“You are beyond fixing, Ling-er!”
Ai Yuhe rolled her eyes. “Since you found your brother, you have completely lost yourself!”
“I am happy now, Sister Ai!”

Ling Jiu moved from one place to the next, slaughtering the Direbeasts relentlessly.
When others needed rest to continue fighting, Ling Jiu never needed one.
His madness finally attracted the Class-7 Direbeasts’ attention.
If Ling Jiu was allowed to kill at such a speed, he would wipe out all the Direbeasts soon, and the beast tide would fall apart.
This must not be allowed to happen.
Five Class-7 Direbeasts faded into five beams of light as they charged at Ling Jiu.
“Stop it, you beasts!”
Four trainers burst out of the training camp at once to meet four of the Class-7 Direbeasts. Only one was free to attack Ling Jiu.
“Ling Jiu!”
Yang Ling-er’s pretty face changed.
“Fret not. I will help him!”
Ai Yuhe lunged out in a flash, coming in front of Ling Jiu in just a few spatial jumps. “Let’s join hand to kill this beast, Ling Jiu!”
“OK!”
Ling Jiu nodded.
This was a giant tiger with a body length of over 40 meters and a height of seven or eight stories. It was snow white and had a pair of golden wings on its back. It was the Goldwing Holy Light Tiger.
The Goldwing Holy Light Tiger had inherited all the strengths of Tiger-type Direbeasts—incredible speed, amazing agility and infinite power.
Besides, the Goldwing Holy Light Tiger also had a pair of wings, adding to its already powerful body. In terms of combat strength, it was outstanding among the Class-7 Direbeasts.
“Kill!”
Ling Jiu took out a silver bar and turned it into a longsword to meet the Goldwing Holy Light Tiger.

Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.
